Dorman makes a full OEM stainless steel fuel line kit for the LMM. It's easy to install and works with my AirDog 165gph lift pump. I highly recommend those upgraded stainless steel lines. They have quick connect sections and are easy to install. I just cut the old rusty factory lines off.
Edit: What brand headlights did you buy? I have a similar looking cheap Amazon set, not even 1 year old and the UV coating is peeling and turning yellow.

2008 LMM 6.6 Duramax - Had a similar problem but it was more severe. I was towing a trailer and kept getting low fuel rail pressure code. Pouring white smoke also. Turns out that the flexible ends on the fuel lines wear out and will bend over. It was fuel starved because the fuel lines were mostly pinched off in 3 places. 2 spots around the fuel cooler and the worst on was where the fuel supply line connects to the fuel rail at the engine. I dropped the tank and replaced the sender (the top was rusted out) and replaced all the fuel lines with braided stainless steel.
Note that the truck ran fine (ish) until I tried to pull a 10K trailer - the pinched lines could not keep up with the fuel demand.

Sweet truck. You're talented. I had a white 06 lbz LT crew cab. Loved that truck. Only thing I don't care for is a huge empty wheel well. I usually run a 3-4 inch lift and do some fender trimming with my 35's. I think it looks much meaner with a full wheel well.

I hate that feeling when something tears up on a vehicle… prepare for the worse and hope for the best! Glad you got your truck fixed though 👍 short story but I had my dipstick tube break at the mounting point on my 08 6.4 after I took my family out about an hour away. Noticed a ton of oil all over the front and ground when we got home and thought my engine had a hole in it. I got lucky though as I still had oil and it happened as we were almost at the house from what I could at least tell. Was able to replace the tube next day thanks to advance auto parts. Definitely gave me a sinking feeling in my stomach when it happened though so I feel you on your situation 😅

Just a thought. Is it possible that where the fuel was leaking it was picking up some coolant from the coolant leak. I know the fuel filter would filter any debris but it is forward of the lift pump so could it have been coolant getting into the fuel through the leak?

I've always been taught petroleum products on rubber are a "no no"...to my understanding petroleum based products are supposed to degrade rubber more quickly over time...like that oring with pet. Jelly on it....the thing I was taught to use for added lubrication if necessary is spit or white lithium grease...

  • @99Eternal

Did the white smoke smell like coolant? Air in fuel lines can produce similar symptoms as a bad injector. That's my guess is you weren't burning coolant, it was air bubbles in fuel line messing with the injectors and that'd explain the rough idle and how your numbers went back to normal after you fixed the air leak.

    Duramax tech here
My best explanation for what happened is it was sucking air, that’s why cylinder 1 was high. It was overfueling to compensate for the air. That overfueling caused it to shoot white smoke. I’ve seen this happen several times and always just fixing the damaged line, filter housing, etc fixes it

My fuel cooler started leaking last summer well I was on vacation with the wife in the U.P.! No one had 1 in stock for 300 miles I had to drive it back home leaking. Call the diesel shops around me they all told me if I don't run it under 1/4 tank I can delete but if I heavy haul no one recommended it! So I bought a new 1 and lift pump! If I only have to replace it every 17 years I can live with that! My mpg on the way home was 6mpg with it leaking and hauling my 5th wheel lol didn't miss a fuel stop that's for sure!
