This era of record production in my opinion was the pinnacle of all recorded music. Brilliant, emotive, lush -- the bass lines themselves are to die for. Listen to the strings and choral work and the stereo mix. It feels completely live and we're right in the middle of the mix. So grand.

I was seven then, and my sister and I staring dreamily at the ceiling while playing this. You can feel the romantic sadness in this song. This was during Charles' country music era. He mixed country with soul and once said of country music at the time (I'm paraphrasing) was a white soul music. I believe all music is for everyone to hear. And he proved it. What took the soul out of country here in the US? Now it's pablum. But these beautiful songs will last forever. Maybe family were big Ray Charles fans. I saw him live, and it was amazing

One of the greatest musicians in history. Blinded as a child in Georgia, his loving mother sent him to a state school for the blind in Florida. Knowing his life was going to be tough as a black and blind man she wanted him educated and independent. There he learned piano and eventually setting out as a young man to get far from the south, he went to Seattle and the rest as they say is history. In ‘62/‘62, when the music buzz was wilting he cut the Modern Sounds In Country Music and he brought the people back into the record stores in record breaking droves! “Worried Mind” still the best example of country, blues, jazz combination piano and singing EVER!
