And quite a few across the world. I heard Farnham for the first time back in the 80s and became a huge fan. Turns out he's as good a person as he is a singer, and that's quite something.

All of Australia is lending strength to John and his fight. He has touched so many of us and is more than just a 'singer'. He is the essence of what we call a good 'Aussie Bloke'. He is the greatest singer for sure, but he is also just one hell of a human. Love you John, always. PS Nick - he wasn't rushed. It was a planned surgery.

Wasn't it amazing?! He receives devastating personal news, which much be particularly hard given he just lost his friend ONJ to cancer days ago, and he IMMEDIATELY make it entirely not about himself. He is one of the greatest vocalists in the world but, more importantly, one of the very best people in the world. I don't think I've ever read or heard a bad word about him, and for good reason.

Breaking news here in Australia. John was admitted to hospital this morning to have cancer surgery. Apparently surgeons were confident they were going to be able to get it all so here’s hoping. The thought of possibly losing John does not bear thinking.
He has sadly been diagnosed with cancer....How awful....He just lost a very dear friend to it. In typical Farnsey style he delivered a message that was all positivity and class. We're behind you Farnsey! All the way. You got this!

It is not si easy to name a favourite, so many different styles, and they are all so brilliant - phenomenal Farnsey just cannot be surpassed. When I listen to his singing I often wish he'd recorded more in the lower registers because, again, there is so much depth of emotion there.. I love Youre6 the Voice, and It's a long way to the Top. It just outdoes AC/Dc - astonishing. I watch all the videos that have been posted on youtube to the degree that I can now 'see' the whole performances in my mind. It's just beautuful. 14.9.23. E❤

Too right. I was diagnosed with skin cancer a month ago. I was operated on a week after that, and the Doctors managed to get it all. My wife contracted breast cancer in 2005. After extensive treatment, she went into remission 5 years later and too this day it has not come back. She managed the complete process like she it was her job. Positive energy and attitude help in defeating the Big C. John will do the same. He has the same attitude.
i too have had skin cancers - lots and lots of them but all have been attended to. I get a full body scan from both my doctor and the PeterMac cancer hospital.
Sadly word has it that he will never be able to sing again. But... We have people like you Nic who have been promoting his very beautiful voice and talent to the world. Thank you... He is a living legend in Australia and we love him.

I was devastated when Olivia passed away and it seems that it was then that John got his diagnosis. He wasn't rushed to hospital, they just didn't tell the media until the morning of his operation. It was successful and he had part of his jaw removed - whether he sings again is anyone's guess, praying for him ❤

I grew up with John Farnham on constant replay on the family’s record player.
My music taste evolved as I grew up, and I can’t remember the last time I voluntarily put any of his music on.
But I will not hear a bad word said about this man.

As you said cancer can be beaten. And John can too. When I was 14, now in my 60s, my neighbour had cancer, 3 times, I rang her for her 93rd birthday last week 😊💞

I sang with John when i was 8 years old after his stage show
"charlie girl"in Auckland New Zealand,he asked my mum if he could take me back to Australia with him,but mum said i was to young to leave home.lol
The cast all came back to Mum and Dads house for a BBq and
signed and wrote lovely words in one of the shows booklets,which i still
have to this day,im 60 now.Such a great artist i was and still am a fan.

Good news reports in Melbourne that doctors are indirectly quoted as expecting a full recovery.
The tumour was in his mouth and he had part of his jaw removed and is in ICU right now. I didn't even know about this as I don't follow national news - more into American and overseas stuff with this war with the cabal that we are in. So sorry to hear this. I very much doubt he will ever sing again but there are so many wonderful videos of him singing so people won't miss out. I hope they got it all.
The fact that you love Farnham like we do here in Australia, just makes me so proud. He will beat this ...he has the backing of every Australian !! This man has the best voice of any singer alive. At 73 he still hits those notes every single time. Get well soon John.

Prayers to John. I was devastated when I read that on Twitter yesterday. I definitely want him alive for a long time, particularly since I only just discovered him a few years ago and began actively listening to him thanks to your reactions. I think he’s a fabulous human being and I just because of his talents but because of his personality. Very humble and seems very down to earth. I wish him the best. I like this performance because he’s using his more mature voice and edgier voice, unlike the younger performance we saw a few months ago. He definitely needs to live long enough to keep singing this song! Let’s all hold hands and believe and pray. You got this, John!

He started his mike tricks when he was younger. I have seen him throwing the mike around when the mikes still had cords attached. I will pray that John becomes well and lives a long life.
There’s a very grainy video of him doing a corporate gig somewhere in the early 80’s, possibly singing ‘hold the line’ where his corded mic skills are nunchucks/karate level 🤣🤣🤣🤣

I grew up listening to Whispering Jack and his albums since, literally the first songs I sang in the shower (and I'm now a classically trained mezzo-soprano ) and to me this was just the norm. Just ol John Farnham. Only now, 30 odd years later do I understand how unique a talent he has. It was the norm to me growing up. I wanted to be Vennetta Fields or Lisa Edwards, his incredible back up singers. It's wonderful to watch your, and many other's, reactions to something I took for granted for so many years. I'm not sure if he knows how much he means to some of his subscribers, but thanks to him I'm no longer on antidepressants, if I'm feeling depressed, I go back and watch his reaction to " when something is wrong with my baby " and I'm instantly smiling. I hope I get to meet him someday so I can express my gratitude.

When One came out out brought the record and then the album. The album I think had Comic Conversation, Jamie and the others. I just love him. A bloody down to earth man. I could never understand how Americans had never heard of him ? Although he never did concerts overseas. He obviously never had to. It is the way he is.

This is so hard to watch, Nick. I can only assume that John and his family received the diagnosis about the same time we lost Olivia Newton-John. I only hope she didn’t know as she would have been devastated, as we all are. I have been a fan of John’s since the beginning of his career - the very first single I bought was John’s, I was a member of his fan club, had all his records and kept scrapbooks of his career, went to appearances at shopping centres to get his autograph, and attended numerous concerts and theatre shows he was in (one where he met his wife). To say I love this man is an understatement. He is not just a great entertainer but an amazing human being. John is royalty and a legend in Australia and loved beyond measure. I am glad you have discovered what we have known all along. Hope John recovers quickly. 😘💕🥰🤗🇦🇺.
Nah, he would have had the diagnosis a while ago and kept it secret. They don’t do this type of majorly drastic surgery without trying other options first.
The likely hood is that he has already gone through rounds of chemo and radiotherapy in attempts to to reduce the tumours.
It then takes significant time for the team of surgeons to plan out the surgery. They don’t go in for something like this without knowing exactly what their plan is!
John cancelled a series of concerts at the end of last year. It’s most likely that’s when he got the diagnosis.

I grew up with John Farnham"s music. My dad was into The little river band. I'm 44 years old now and it never gets old. Listen to the song "The other guy" or " Down on the boarder!"

Terrible news about John, hopefully he makes a full recovery. This was the second song I ever heard him sing and it blew me away. It's great to watch the earlier version when he was young and his voice wasn't as developed (though it still was a lot better than most), then hearing this where he blows the roof off with his belting power.
