    I don’t like the join on the interchangeable needles; stitches get stuck there. To fix this problem, I purchased fixed (non-interchangeable version) individual needles, with which the problem doesn’t exist. I’ve used square needles of different brands for a number of years now. In my opinion, the Addi squared needles are the best. I’ve retired all my other needles and use only these. I know that squared needles sounds counter-intuitive, but try the Addi product. They will make you a believer!

    I bought a fixed US 4 a while ago to try them out and after using them once I was in love and ordered the set. I did get the Novas which is just the German version of the Rocket Square and cost about $30 less on Amazon. They are exactly the same and come with exactly the same cords and accessories. I agree that they should have included a needle gauge, even a cardboard one, since you can't use a regular needle gauge with these. Also worth noting is that they do not come with a US 5. I purchased the US 5 tips separately. BTW I have 8 different sets of interchangeables, so I guess I have the same philosophy about collecting that you do.

      Interesting my set does have a US 5. But, that may because they're packaged for the US market?
      And ohh 8 sets. I'm kind of jealous (I'd be lying if I'm not eyeing Chiaogoo shorties)

    I just purchased several Addi rocket squared needles in a 40” length to knit Magic Loop for socks. I don’t like the cords nearly as well as my Chiaogoos. They are very stiff and have a memory. Do you have any hints as to how to soften them or make them lose their memory?

    Loved your review... I bought these needles (3.5") recently. I had bought a pair of the regular Addi Lace Squares and LOVED them.... I already have an interchangeable 5" tip set from Hoya Hoya so figured I would buy the smaller tips and just fill in with a few individual pairs of the Addi longer tips in sizes I commonly use like 9's..... These needles are so comfortable and i love the the quality. The Hoya Hoya set is great too but alas I find the cable connections unwind sometimes and that is troubling. Maybe I am not locking the Hoya Hoya's probably??? I don't know. I highly recommend this set!!!!!

    I just bought two sets of tips and I love them so far. Now, they're not as slick as the others, but they are lighter and don't make my hands hurt. The only Addis I don't like are the Bamboo ones . I also have six interchangeable sets. I think. It may be eight😁

      You both are my people. I love needles more than yarn. I just got my set yesterday. I feel like my tension is better without sacrificing too much speed. As far as the join, I'm okay with dk weight yarn or bigger. I struggle with fingering or lace. Gimme some knitters pride mindful set or my Chiao goo for those. I also like that the squared set has a pointer point than turbos.

    I have Addi Rockets in the pink case 5in and the 3.5 in in the brown case. Both are white bronze over brass. They changed the formula as you said on the whole line. Read the fine print when you’re buying. I love all my Addis. Super fast.

  • @ashleyhowell8425
    @ashleyhowell8425 Год назад +1

    I have the shorter version of this set and love them. My only gripe is that fingering weight yarn gets caught on the join. But it’s not a deal breaker as I don’t knit with that weight as often.

    Hi there, Carrie. A wonderful review. I found the texture on the needles interesting. Bummer that the sets don't include stoppers. I would have guessed they would include them. And a needle gauge seems like a necessary item to include with them because a standard gauge won't work. Still a lovely looking set. ❤🐻

    • @CarrieCraftGeek
      @CarrieCraftGeek  Год назад

      Addi is selling a separate wood gauge and ruler set that works with the needle. But, it's an odd choice.

    I've the same blue set: long, square and lace tipped Addi interchangeables. However, I understand them to be Novels...am i in error here? Or might you be?
    I too love them, so far. I yearn for the Nature set, just because I love olive wood and have tried a fixed version..YUMM! But, I don't need them, nor do I knit enough yet to justify the set. FYI, if you order off Holst Garn's site, they offer the lowest price I've seen on Addi sets and more, that is one's which have held appeal to me.
    Thanks for your review.

    Great review. I love my Addi’s but have had trouble with the join mechanism. When they go in properly they work great! I’ve had defective tips and my supplier has always exchanged them and then they work fine. I can’t access the lifeline in the cables without a big hassle so I don’t bother with it. I put in my own. They are super fast and slick which I love. My Knitters Pride Nova Platina are so fast but some of their tips are just too pointy. I won a set of the Day and Nite Interchangeable set by Knitters Pride and they are really nice. The wood is polished so they are quite fast. I’m normally a metal person but these are quite good! As far as using the t pins to join and screw in my ChiaoGoo needles it’s worth it. The join is flawless but the steel tips aren’t as fast as the others. The cords are great though. I, like you, have a lot of sets. I think these squares will be my next purchase. Merry Christmas to me, lol. Thanks for a great review!😊

    I’m really glad you put a review out for this set. I have them as well and I was so hopeful as I really adore Addi Squares but I have struggled with the join so much. The ridge in the join is too big and slows down my knitting. I wish I could return them. I don’t want to discourage anyone as Carrie doesn’t have a problem with them.

    I have the European version of this set (it has red cables and possibly a 7mm needle instead of a 6.5mm) and I don't use them a lot.
    I do love them, but mainly I use them with yarns that I don't think will play nice with my favorite needles which are the Knit Picks 4-Square Majestic wood needles.
    Right now I'm using the Addis with Lion Brand Basic Stitch Anti-Pilling Acrylic, which is plenty soft, but has a kind of micro-fiber feel to it which I thought would not glide easily over the wood. They may get more of a workout with my summer knitting projects since they might do better with cotton and cotton blends than the wood ones, but the Knit Picks needles are pretty slick for a wooden needle.
    I've also got some of the fixed Addi Rocket Squared for sizes too small to come in wood. I just wish they came in 2.25mm (I've only found 2.5mm and 2mm) for socks.
    I like the tips, I like the cords, the joins are barely noticeable, they haven't turned my fingers black, I just prefer wood for the feeling of more control of the stitches on the needles. And I agree, the lack of cord stoppers is annoying.

      Yes! Here is a linke to the needle gauge on Paradise Fibers. (I am an affiliate) bit.ly/3xMb51m

    I too have multiple sets of Addi interchangeables. I think they have been a waste of money for me. My other sets were very easy to connect. I struggle to connect the cable and tips on these. No matter how secure I think they are I frequently end up with a cable and tip disconnecting while I and knittting. All of the needles in my case are tarnished- even the ones I have not used. The company I purchased this set from has replaced all the needle tips. The new tips do not connect to the cables near as easily as my other sets. Still disconnect while knitting. Skacel denies there is a problem with these sets of interchangeables.

    I saw in another review that square needles have a slightly different guage. Did you find that?

    • @CarrieCraftGeek
      @CarrieCraftGeek  Год назад +1

      They probably do, but so many things effect gauge, including material and brand. I get slightly different tension between my KP Karbonz and my Addi Turbos. Or my Addi Lace Tips round vs my Hiya Hiya Sharps.
      It's one of the reasons doing gauge swatches is important if size is really crucial to a project.

    I hate the cords so bad. They curl and I have to plunge them in hot water just to use them. I have several fixed Addie square and it’s the cords I can’t stand. I love the needles. I wish they would improve on the cords

      @CarrieCraftGeek  Год назад

      I personally am okay with cords but I am surprised after all these years they haven't come up with their own stainless steel version. Even Knit Picks has that option now.

    Why don’t they put the 16” cord in the set?

    • @CarrieCraftGeek
      @CarrieCraftGeek  11 месяцев назад

      16 inch interchangeables need a shorter tip called shorties. They're usually 2 inches and come with a 12 inch cable.

  • @cwilson991
    @cwilson991 Год назад +1

    They are my favorites, also. I use something else when I have something on the go and have no other option. I do not have any problem with staining on my fingers. I think the tips are sharp, not too sharp they do not twist off as my other set does. I like you have had a problem with operator error. I will say I do not think it is so much strength and grip that the pads help. The tips and slip in your hands, and the rubber pad helps with the slip for sure.
