Part 23. Demolition of the West Heating Plant in Georgetown (Washington, DC).
The heating plant was built in the 1940s. It provided steam heat to government buildings.

One the best in this series, the operator is doing the job faster. Must be a different operator.
After working on demo equipment in the past, carefully does it, as those hydraulic hoses are very easy to rip out on jagged steel, on a job like this, this machine will likely to have an boom, stick bearing replacement, this kind of work is very hard on machines..slow and steady, wins the race...
@@paulkandi Don't know if the operator is the same but the shear they use since the last video clearly makes a difference.

Great job filming, John. Hope we can see the final video tearing down the front facade next to the sidewalk.
They are preserving the facade to incorporate into the new building.

That's right. It stops at 23. But I'm out filming other demolitions now.

We over in the UK don' have heating plants like the USA, so presume it not a power station, just a facility for making steam for the community, just lots of boilers and pipes..
What are they going to do with the front facade that they spent a bunch of money on to reinforce it with some impressive heavy steel? Nice video. Thanks John. 💯👍
The facade will be incorporated into the new building. The temporary steel bracing by the street will be removed as the facade is attached to the new building's structure.

The government sold it off a decade ago. It's being developed into condos by Four Seasons Private Residences.
My comment about the operator was about 58 minutes into the presentation!!!
On voit bien sur la vidéo que l opérateur ne c est pas par quel bout si prendre pour la simple raison qu il faut eclairsir et enlever ces gravats par une autre machine une qui coupe et l autre qui deblaie

Have you been on the high reach they don’t go any faster the operator is doing a great job
@@Bigaliy Agreed, nice and careful, every contractors dream, no brake downs or torn out hoses, he got the job done, always looks easy standing and watching, very different in the operators cab...
