Just bought one of these Bolse hubs, been meaning to pick one up for a while now. The link and your endorsement made it an easy decision to buy this one. Thanks!
I just ordered my £1200 pc and its being delivered in a few days for me to build! Can barely wait! Who got me interested in building one? Linus! :D Cant wait, thanks Linus, you gave me confidence to do my first ever pc build!!
I got the amazing AverMedia Game Capture HD II. It's a great device, specially because you don't need a PC to record, you can plug in a USB device or insert a HDD. Love this device!
I sometimes see an Option for 4k video quality and then other times I see an option for 1080p for LinusTechTips videos. Is this an issue with youtube, or is LTT just only sometimes shooting in 4k?
I have a gaming PC and a Wii U and I love both. They offer different things and Nintendo still has the best first-party games, at least for me. The Wii U might not be a technical powerhouse, but it knows what it is and sticks to its strengths.
DavisSgt ninty doesn't push hardware like other publishers so it's easy for them to 60 at high resolutions. the graphics in mario and many nintendo franchises are actually very simple.
1:20 Nice one Lol Anyways, I have a Question I have a samsung HD monitor, well on the box it says 1080p But am I gonna be able to run games at higher resolutions? I mean would it make a difference or am I gonna experience some issues?
Can you review the new Elgato 60HD? It is designed with live streaming in mind while still serving as the typical recoding device. Priced in at 180 I feel like the new Elgato will rule the market.
4:05 What you are requesting there didn't happen because when the released this capture card 1440p wasn't around like it is today. They probably designed this card during 2012-2013! 1440p again wasn't around like today. So those features are gonna sadly have to wait. For example on how slow these capture cards are coming out for low prices. Elgato just released their HD 60; There 1080p 60FPS Capture card. Why doesn't it come with 1440P capture? idk probably because it wasn't designed for it. But it shows that is the market these companies are selling for. If u want the latest Tech look into Blackmagic Design.
Is there a capture card that lets you capture sources that use VGA, like Older PCs (for capturing footage from older PC games that won't work well on Windows 7 or 8, or even DOSbox), or the Dreamcast?
This is definitely the best capture devices. Records at 1080p 60fps and has USB 3. Unlike Blackmagic's Intensity Shuttle, this device works flawlessly on any USB 3 chipset and does 60fps where as the Intensity series is capped at 1080p30. This also provides an input stream with no delay, which is perfect for streamers since they don't have to synchronise their audio inputs against the delayed input video. The only device competing against this is the Elgato Gamecapture HD60fps, which unfortunately uses USB 2, meaning the input stream is delayed. Here in the UK, the Extremecap U3 is cheaper than the gamecapture HD60fp. The U3 doesn't have HDMI so a HDMI splitter is required and are usually under £10.
Now LinusTechTips I want to know... You stated that this uses CPU to record lacking an internal x264 encoder chip. In this case, would it not make it detrimental for streamers? Streaming is CPU intensive work if you're doing it correctly and/or have weaker hardware. Or does it only use the CPU when you're recording, and simply having it acquire a video feed (as a camera-type device) costs nothing in terms of system performance? I need to know before I could recommend/not recommend to people.
there are easy ways to get ANY cap card to be used as a source though. most manufacturers include software for such things on their drivers/software pages
Excellent video guy! I wonder how do you record the computer games using your Capture Board AveMedia Extremacap U3. If you can help this humble inscribed with this doubt. I want to buy this Capture Card, more game saves to your PC. Thanks for listening! LIKE
But what's the software really like, I have the HD PVR 2 and the software lets the whole product down. It simply doesn't record half my gameplays, it just collects dust now. Shadowplay has taken it's place :)
i dont get the hdmi splitter part that linus used in this video. did he just use a splitter to split the signal from consoles to ---------capture card(pc) and ------------ to the monitor directly. That's the only thing i can think of what a hdmi splitter will do in this case. i am so exhausted on solving the problems when setting up my ps4 streams.
+forever Hungry Yeah the HDMI output of the console goes into an HDMI splitter. One signal is sent to your monitor or TV and the second signal goes to the capture card.
So how out of date is my Hauppauge PVR 2 Gaming edition? I mean, it's around that price point now, and does the HDMI pass through, and also has component connections for recording PS3 (old tech, I know, but still good games).
I would like to see you do Elgato Game Capture HD 60 seems like it could be good for the 60 FPS and it has HDMI passthrough and I hear Elgato software is good too.
I have one. I bought a splitter to go with it since I use it more for consoles. It works great. I did have some syncing issues at first, but some were on my end as I realized that not everything I was playing was at 60fps. A game that was running at 60fps did not have its main menus at 60. It would be 30. Things got weird then. And yeah, not having .97 or .94 is a bummer but maybe an update can fix that. But overall I like it and considering how much more I'd have to pay to get 60fps without it by going to Blackmagic Design or the likes saved me a lot of money.
Got something of a strange question here... Is there any other product capable of 60 FPS capture from an analogue YPbPr source, such as the (first) Wii? Nothing against this one but would like to see if there is anything else ;) *No comments telling me to buy a Wii U to capture from via. HDMI thanks..
What abt the Elgato HD Capture device? It records at 1080p, 60fps and has hdmi passthrough. Alot more functionality and an overall better product or am I missing something?
I personally think onboard h264 is great for casual use, but for technical recording and acquiring of source for production, Uncompressed is something that should not be so rare.
LinusTechTips can you please do a video showing us the lag like comparison between straight connection to tv and what you get on your monitor moments after you shoot for example. please and thank you
LinusTechTips I'm going to buy the avermedia u3 I just wanted to know cause I watched on another video that someone lost audio when using a hdmi splitter what hdmi splitter should I use to not lose audio and does the maximus vi formula have the right USB 3.0 for this device
Hello there, and please tell Bolse that your video made me aware of them, and as I'm currently looking for a USB hub, I found their USB3 7 port hub. I'm sold! Edit: Except it's not being sold in Denmark :(
I am planning on livestreaming to twitch with my xbox 1. I want to get a card to stream to my pc monitor and want to be able to play off the monitor so I believe elgato is out of question. I am kinda stuck between 2 cards the Extremecap u3 and the Live Gamer Portable. Which one would be best for that? Either since I am playing on console? I dont mind it using my computers CPU but to be safe better having the card do all the work?
Hey, I'm looking at getting a 5k retina Mac, 27", I want to be able to use it like a TV as well - as a monitor with my PS3 and chrome cast through a hdmi cable, but I'll never use a recorder. What would you advise??
thnx guys! i almost bought this one thinking that its an updated/better version of the previous one.... why on earth would they create a new device with less capability? WTH?
Ive made a build with the gtx 750 ti oc and i thought what would be best with the amd fx 6300 but i also really looked at the g3258 what do you guys Think would be best ( im gonna almost only be playing games Else ill use my ipad. Im playing Leauge Of Legends, Realm Of The Mad God, tf2 and stuff Thanks this would really help me out ;3.
I currently use shadowplay and to me it's the best. But does anyone know a PVR that records at 1080p 60FPS BUT doesn't use the computers resources? Is there such a PVR out there?
Can anyone please tell me the name of a capture card that can display my ps3/wii/xbox360 gameplay and audio on my PC SCREEN in real time. Thats all i need so i can just capture it with OBS.
Regarding 60fps on consoles, most fighting games run at 60fps. Although I'd doubt they're rendered at 1080p, Guilty Gear Xrd on PS4 should fill that void and the game looks gorgeous at full speed~ Either way I'm sticking with my Intensity Pro.
PLEASE HELP!! I have a Aver Media LGP Lite GL310 and i want to record my game footage from my laptop. I use an external 1080p monitor because the laptop only has a 720p (roughly). I set it up as instructed (even by Aver Media) but it will not pass through the video signal too my monitor. Have i missed something? Please help and Fast i don't want to have wasted money!
Came for the review, finished and was more interested in the Bolse USB charging hub. If they make a PCIe Version that can go in an optical bay, I'd shit bricks and buy a few. Especially if they have USB 3.0
Not long Linus before you receive your gold you tube play button.. ;-)
:D
+LinusTechTips :3 Like da button?
Another Useful product for a sponsor, I might get this for Christmas! :D
I got the amazing AverMedia Game Capture HD II. It's a great device, specially because you don't need a PC to record, you can plug in a USB device or insert a HDD. Love this device!
I really love that Doctor who tardis in the background
Holy balls, an ad spot that people can take advantage of outside of North America!
It's a miracle!
3:03 What did you screen record with there? it's a really bad recording
Awesome vid Linus!
Question: How do I get my PC audio to mix in with the recorded footage? I can't seem to do it and it's driving me nuts.
Linus and Slick you guys got challenged by Barnacules Nerdgasm for the ice bucket challenge. cant wait to see it
I sometimes see an Option for 4k video quality and then other times I see an option for 1080p for LinusTechTips videos. Is this an issue with youtube, or is LTT just only sometimes shooting in 4k?
60fps is critical for all video capture devices now that RUclips (and probably Twitch eventually) will allow 60FPS.
Twitch has it for a while now
twitch already has 60fps and youtube will have it by the end of next year imo
James Prime Ya but it looks like garbage if you stream at 1080p at 60fps on twitch and at the maximum bitrate of 3500.
***** unfortunately it is a lot less popular.
I could stream to both sites :D
Already have the Live Gamer Portable and I'm pretty happy with it. That Bolse USB charger looks great though.
damn that power speech in the end
I have a gaming PC and a Wii U and I love both. They offer different things and Nintendo still has the best first-party games, at least for me. The Wii U might not be a technical powerhouse, but it knows what it is and sticks to its strengths.
What I would like to see is a new version of AverMedia Game Capture with 60fps support.
What's wrong with the Wii U? It runs 60FPS.
lolz
Metroid Prime on gamecube ran at 60 fps often also.
Raymond Tyson Many people underestimate Nintendo's consoles.
I think you misunderstood the joke,Linus said "assuming the consoles can run games at 60FPS like the WiiU
DavisSgt
ninty doesn't push hardware like other publishers so it's easy for them to 60 at high resolutions. the graphics in mario and many nintendo franchises are actually very simple.
DavisSgt o lolz. PC Master Race I assume.
1:20 Nice one Lol
Anyways, I have a Question
I have a samsung HD monitor, well on the box it says 1080p
But am I gonna be able to run games at higher resolutions? I mean would it make a difference or am I gonna experience some issues?
Typo at 1:23. It should say "separate". With an "A". Not to be a grammar nazi, just thought I'd point it out.
*Nazi...LOL
Rackham YT *lol... LOL
Is it only me or LinusTechTips' videos louder than everyone else's?
Yes they are I almost broke my speaker.
It's a shame :(
that was awesome at the end there :)
I'm curious, what's the stand that linus uses in his videos? (the blue one in this video to hold up the product) ._.

Good reviews as always
So uh, Linus since your reviewing capture cards can we see a review for the Elgato Gamecapture and HDPvr?? Please?
Is there a capture card that lets you capture sources that use VGA, like Older PCs (for capturing footage from older PC games that won't work well on Windows 7 or 8, or even DOSbox), or the Dreamcast?
Can I capture gameplay footage from a Nintendo 3DSXL? By using that capture device?

Hei Linus, Y U NO make a nice video comparison of action cameras like the GOPRO?

New phone wallpaper!
You do vids on the averedia but what's your opinion on the new elgato
Are there any AC USB adapters/chargers that use USB 3.0's new electrical standards for charging?
Could you record a hdmi video from a camera instead of a gaming pc? For example, a hour and a half presentation.
Linus, what do you think about the Elgato Game Capture HD60. It also does 1080p 60FPS. It would be awesome to hear your thoughts on it.
Excellent video guy! I wonder how do you record the computer games using your Capture Board AveMedia Extremacap U3. If you can help this humble inscribed with this doubt. I want to buy this Capture Card, more game saves to your PC. Thanks for listening! LIKE

What a fast outro god O.o''
When the videos will start to come @ 1440p and 4K? My LG G3 is ready... Furthermore, the videos on TechQuickie are already in this resolution (1440p).
Currently unavailable.
We don't know when or if this item will be back in stock.
when is the VII formula review coming? :3
I know it was only a joke Linus but a load of Wii U games run at 60fps and some at 1080p! PC + Wii U is the best combination.
Seems like a good product, the missing HDMI pass through seems like a massive oversight.
What keyboard do you use...i need a new one because the LED's on my k70 are dying and corsair wont replace it.
So how out of date is my Hauppauge PVR 2 Gaming edition? I mean, it's around that price point now, and does the HDMI pass through, and also has component connections for recording PS3 (old tech, I know, but still good games).

Linus have you tested out the Elgato Game Capture HD60 internal card before?
Will you be reviewing the new elgato?
Intro: When You Talked, YOU FUCKING SCARED ME WHILE I WAS FIXIING MY INTERNET ROUTER!!!
You guys gonna review the Elgato HD60 Capture Card?
This sponsor was actually kinda interesting
So,does YT support 60 FPS right now or is it still in the work?

Hey Linus, you should do a comparison video between this and the new Elgato HD60 which is also 1080p 60 fps.
and compares in price to this

Hey Linus, I'm looking for a wireless usb adapter for my desktop. I'd like to be able to game over the wifi. What should I buy?
You guys should have looked at the elgato game capture HD 60 which has hdmi pass through, and an H.264 encoder built in.
New Sponsor - Balls!! oh i mean bolse ! sry
Doesnt live gamer portable also do 1080p 60fps also?
Am i the only one who realised the "Ultimate Gaming System" Sponsor says it has a 600w PSU when the pic shows a 500w one?
thnx guys! i almost bought this one thinking that its an updated/better version of the previous one....
why on earth would they create a new device with less capability? WTH?
i'm happy with the Live Gamer Portable and Live Gamer HD... 60fps isn't terrible for viewing... playing vs watching is different imo.
Ah yes the capture card I need in 2021:D
You should do a review of the elgato hd60!
Ive made a build with the gtx 750 ti oc and i thought what would be best with the amd fx 6300 but i also really looked at the g3258 what do you guys Think would be best ( im gonna almost only be playing games Else ill use my ipad. Im playing Leauge Of Legends, Realm Of The Mad God, tf2 and stuff

How about reviewing the Elgato Game Capture device?
Can anyone please tell me the name of a capture card that can display my ps3/wii/xbox360 gameplay and audio on my PC SCREEN in real time. Thats all i need so i can just capture it with OBS.
It doesn't have to real time because there's the "capture device" option on OBS.
So why don't they compare it with the Blackmagic Design capture devices ??

how do I record extreme capu3 on Xbox one I got the cables plug in but when I press record on the PC to Xbox it says "no signal" help
Could you do a review on the Elgato HD60 ?
hi linus can i use this device to connect my mac pro 2013 to my imac late 2013 as diplay?

Do a review on the new Elgato HD 60
Can i use it to extend my windows desktop on my imac 27" late 2012 ?
Mind doing a review on the elgato HD60?
