I am going to miss these two men together, doing things like this, but hopefully they will still do things together now that Stephen will be over at CBS.
here from the future Jon retired a a legend while Colbert went from being one of the greatest satirists who ever lived to a political hack whose jokes basically boil down to "Republicans are bad".
@@enigma1028 it really is crazy how the world fell apart aint it. used to be a united country. used to have some sanity in our country. I guess the rally to restore sanity failed. definitely a lot more fear today.
Jon steward I bealive in u I share your point of view so strong! I'm going to be a part of making this world a better place. Their are not a lot of wonderful humans like u man. I will spend my life trying to be
I love these two guys who have the greatest gift for satirical political comedy. As long as there are two, there is hope for the U.S. A. A fan from the "old", "socialist" Europe (Germany) ^ ^
After hearing Colbert explain his thoughts at Google about the presses reaction to the rally, it becomes very obvious why he's constantly chuckling when people ask them questions.
I like how comedy has become the new medium to check corretness in media. Before it was Media checks Politians and then other media check them but since media has started to take a turn for the worse a new player has entered the game and that is comedy. So much funnier to watch as a bonus :P
Surprising to hear Jon Stewart say he leaves every interview wishing he had done better when I always think he's just PERFECT. Stewart for Prez, Colbert for VP, Ventura for Secrtary of State, now that would fix things!
I wouldn't want them to run for office, not because I don't like them, not because they're not suited for the job. It's not their place, it's not what they're meant for. I believe that these two will help shape the future of our youth, not to guide them down a certain path but to open their minds and see more then what's in front of them. They're not leaders, but I believe they help us see the world in a more honest way and I think that's where they will be happiest.
They are so determinedly avoiding answering the questions - but I guess they're being treated like some kind of political candidates and they're trying to make the point that they're not. I guess they just point to the ridiculousness of the system but it's up to others to do the work of changing it. But even that role is important in that process.
benedictify Why bother organizing a rally then? That seems unnecessary and like a step in a different direction, hence the press asking them questions about what the hell all this was about.
Damn, if Stephen talked more, this would've been better. Other than that though, this was great. loved how this was just Jon and Stephen as themselves answering a bunch of questions both seriously and cracking jokes.
Then you don't understand Colbert... he cares more about the point he is making about the news -- but he is masterful enough not to lose any of it in his comedy.
14:28 This surprises me. I can't believe Jon didn't say he believed people should vote. I guess this might be because he was such a George Carlin fan and George didn't believe it mattered.
4:03 I really dislike that they dodged that question a bit, because I'm a frustrated individual that really wants to work to change government and politics in a more rational way. What can I do?
Look at Swartzenegger and Ventura...they both cracked me up in the 80's and they were both Governers. Ventura as a WWF comentatory was as funny as Arnolds famous 1 liners.
The media is so dumb! They keep asking real political questions but they're not listening...IT WAS A SHOW! These guys are comedians. The people at CNN are so dense.
So I realise this might be the latest reply ever to a YT comment... but if you or anyone else is still wondering, the "incident" refers to the (at the time recent) firing of CNN anchor Rick Sanchez after a radio interview where he called Jon a bigot and claimed the people who ran CNN were similarly prejudiced, and basically laughed at the idea that being Jewish meant they could also be considered an oppressed minority.
I feel sad when people are interrupted. Colbert had a shake. I suppose that the Colbert Report is now gone? Probably not going to have another Satire to replace him on that one.
Why is all the questions are only directly to Jon? Don't get me wrong I love Jon but he is not alone, for example the guy in 14:26 said "Hi Jon, do you think guys...?" what the f***?
I'm glad someone observes the amorality of the free market, and doesn't see it as a living, benevolent (in the case of libertarians) or malevolent (in the case of socialism) organism. Ron Paul cannot be called a "Neo-classical" liberal though. His opinion is either "neoliberal" or "classical liberal". What makes him different from for example John Locke and classical liberals in the 18th and 19th century?
i dont think they will ever even think about running because jon stewart sees too much corruption and ill-intent in politicians and leaders of the US. there are too many warped ways to become a powerful POLITICIAN not a comedian and as a comedian first jon stewart inspires the people but chooses not to lead or really REPRESENT them. to try for a political role would seem like a doublecross and hes too honestly an average human being for anything like that.
Yeah, I watched an interview with Colbert and he said that Jon was more serious. However, both of these shows are firstly a comedy show. They just take the news and spin it to be comedic. In a way you are learning something, because most of the events are really in the news. He said that he was more of a character than Jon. The news being offered on his show is sometimes a lie though, more so than Jon's. Colbert's character is ignorant and he tells his guests to be honest with themselves.
I think that was the first time I saw Stephen as Stephen. Two of the best! :)
They're are both just so SO cute together
"The hardness kind of leads to the joy" - Stephen Colbert
I love how Colbert's face says: «I can't believe they're really throwing serious questions at us !»
I am going to miss these two men together, doing things like this, but hopefully they will still do things together now that Stephen will be over at CBS.
***** I think Jon produces the Colbert Report and thats why he doesn't get on camera. Im only guessing though
The Lone Voice
Huh? I think he meant the Late Show, but Jon has been on The Colbert Report many times.
here from the future
Jon retired a a legend while Colbert went from being one of the greatest satirists who ever lived to a political hack whose jokes basically boil down to "Republicans are bad".
@@enigma1028 it really is crazy how the world fell apart aint it. used to be a united country. used to have some sanity in our country. I guess the rally to restore sanity failed. definitely a lot more fear today.
Two Libtard fuckups who together have a single digit IQ.
Jon steward I bealive in u I share your point of view so strong! I'm going to be a part of making this world a better place. Their are not a lot of wonderful humans like u man. I will spend my life trying to be
Jon Stewart. One of the most important voices of our generation.
that was such a great day on the mall; watching this brings it all back. i wish they'd do it again. love those boys!
"Jon Stewart, reformed Jew."
I love these two guys who have the greatest gift for satirical political comedy. As long as there are two, there is hope for the U.S. A. A fan from the "old", "socialist" Europe (Germany) ^ ^
They seem so fried after the show. Gotta love their work.
After hearing Colbert explain his thoughts at Google about the presses reaction to the rally, it becomes very obvious why he's constantly chuckling when people ask them questions.
Stephen's so cute in this haha, he's all smiles
I remember that day :) The rally was an awesome thing
Serena Williams’ husband being called a blogger by ‘Jon Stewart’ is the best lowkey pop culture moment I’ll be talking about moving forward
These guys almost ruined my wedding! But it made for a more memorable day at the NPC. ;)
Thanks for posting this! I was sad I never got go see this when it first went out. Been looking for it ever since.
I was there in 2010. Great physical discomfort, half a mile from the stage and not a single good photo, but it was awesome.
How I miss this Colbert
This is the same Colbert you've been seeing for the last 8 years
1:40 Oh my gosh! It's Amanpour! She's amazing at what she does 😀
The insanity and fear continues to this day. Donald Trump. QED.
Wow. Stephen seems like the most genuinely nice person when he is not in character.
I like how comedy has become the new medium to check corretness in media. Before it was Media checks Politians and then other media check them but since media has started to take a turn for the worse a new player has entered the game and that is comedy. So much funnier to watch as a bonus :P
4:30 Alexis Ohanian (co-founder of Reddit) asks a question, Jon Stewart calls him a "blogger"
Surprising to hear Jon Stewart say he leaves every interview wishing he had done better when I always think he's just PERFECT. Stewart for Prez, Colbert for VP, Ventura for Secrtary of State, now that would fix things!
Deadly combination too: it's hard to disagree with a man who is so sharp in both fields.
Jon Stewart Sanity/Fear Press Conference STARRING Stephen Colbert
I was there!
Hardness always leads to joy.
I love these two. dont know where wed b without them. balance out all the insanity here. True American heroes.
Good times ✌💜
"That's not a dodge, that's pride"
"you have fully inserted yourselves into civil society" pwahahahaha I nearly chocked laughing at that one!!
Great last question.
@5:00 that sounds a lot like cgpgrey.. :o
Recap: There were a few years where Jon lived under Stephans desk on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert. But Jon did go on to do another TV show.
11 years later and fear has won.
imagine if these were the two leaders of our country? we'd have a great nation, once again.
Ah Stephen just don't tremble like that again and Jon both of you are great
They are so determinedly avoiding answering the questions - but I guess they're being treated like some kind of political candidates and they're trying to make the point that they're not. I guess they just point to the ridiculousness of the system but it's up to others to do the work of changing it. But even that role is important in that process.
benedictify Why bother organizing a rally then? That seems unnecessary and like a step in a different direction, hence the press asking them questions about what the hell all this was about.
Sadly, me and most of the U.S agree with you.
Some of the questions were more geared towards Stewart and I wished there was more of Colbert speaking.
Those would be the best 16 years EVER
wow they must be exhausted
That... would be. AWESOME!!!!! I'll be able to vote that year too!
your POV: its 2020 and youtube recommended this to make you question what the hell happened
4:32 "Hi, Alexis Ohanian from Reddit.com, soon to be husband of Serena Williams!"
Jon Stewart for President 2016 & 2020
Steven Colbert for President 2024 & 2028
they need their own network
America will be saved for 16 years!
i wish stephan colbert john stewart john oliver and steave carwel would lv do a show together i love these men
I think that was called: The Daily Show, lol. Colbert, Oliver, and Carrell were all correspondents during Jon Stewart's satirical reign.
Nick bensongton lmao 'steve carwel' is a national treasure
Ummm the daily show...
They should be VPs for eachother for sure!
y u dislike Bill O'Reilly!
how do you not spell stewart right its right there
2028 for Jon in President Colbert!
How I wish they would run!
Who is the poncey female journo
Is cool to see Colbert out of character. I wish he would do it more often.
Good luck with that. Clearly the race is going to go to a more feasible, serious, and legitimate candidate, like Colbert.
It'll be a shame when they retire, but they'll have earned it.
Why is it so fucking quiet.
I wish Steve and Jon made a request to Adrianna to say " Dahling i love you but give me Park Avenue ".
Vermont?
14:28 This surprises me. I can't believe Jon didn't say he believed people should vote. I guess this might be because he was such a George Carlin fan and George didn't believe it mattered.
i bet the voices in the your head agree with you completely.
Sad thing is I actually think these guys would be great politicians.
4:03
I really dislike that they dodged that question a bit, because I'm a frustrated individual that really wants to work to change government and politics in a more rational way.
What can I do?
I too, was taken back by that. The production team obviously has not considered how many of us are OCD. We are the new demograph1
Man, heartbreaking to hear from Alexis.
I can't believe Colbert threw "The Faculty" in Stewart's face. Low blow.
Look at Swartzenegger and Ventura...they both cracked me up in the 80's and they were both Governers. Ventura as a WWF comentatory was as funny as Arnolds famous 1 liners.
Jon Stewart is doing most of the talking here.
How did a 15 year old become President of the National Press Club and a reporter for Bloomberg?
The media is so dumb! They keep asking real political questions but they're not listening...IT WAS A SHOW! These guys are comedians. The people at CNN are so dense.
badass
9:54 "The hardness kind of leads to the joy" -Colbert
Oh innuendos...
Sorry, I had to mention it.
Hey Jon how about letting Stephen talk!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
you noticed that too eh? =P
I take that back. Fuck Stephen!!!
How the fuck are you taking that back? What Stephen do that you've changed your mind?
Charles A Colbert is awesome!!
what was the "incident" ?
So I realise this might be the latest reply ever to a YT comment... but if you or anyone else is still wondering, the "incident" refers to the (at the time recent) firing of CNN anchor Rick Sanchez after a radio interview where he called Jon a bigot and claimed the people who ran CNN were similarly prejudiced, and basically laughed at the idea that being Jewish meant they could also be considered an oppressed minority.
I watch Colbert for comedy, I watch Stewart for satire
That is the difference
I feel sad when people are interrupted. Colbert had a shake.
I suppose that the Colbert Report is now gone? Probably not going to have another Satire to replace him on that one.
This way google controls content
He was born in Washington DC
news can come from anywhere. Even comedians. Hear something and research it, find out if it is true.
Yes there like Yin and Yang though, they balance each other and it just works well! Don't you think?
Why is all the questions are only directly to Jon? Don't get me wrong I love Jon but he is not alone, for example the guy in 14:26 said "Hi Jon, do you think guys...?" what the f***?
You're looking at the president and vice president for 2016
dose anyone think the image in the back ground looks like stephan colbert mixed with not john stewart
He did legally change his name to "Stewart" though. The reason is because he didn't want to be associated with his dad who left.
i dont think they will ever even think about running because jon stewart sees too much corruption and ill-intent in politicians and leaders of the US. there are too many warped ways to become a powerful POLITICIAN not a comedian and as a comedian first jon stewart inspires the people but chooses not to lead or really REPRESENT them. to try for a political role would seem like a doublecross and hes too honestly an average human being for anything like that.
Stewart/Colbert 2016
Still have the little hand towel they handed out at that immense, little party.
I want to know this : Lets get a consensus on who is better, Stewart or Colbert. Like for Stew, dislike for Colbert.
He wants his guests to prove that they are right against someone who refuses to agree.
but Stephen i loved Death to Smoochy!
Yeah, I watched an interview with Colbert and he said that Jon was more serious. However, both of these shows are firstly a comedy show. They just take the news and spin it to be comedic. In a way you are learning something, because most of the events are really in the news. He said that he was more of a character than Jon. Yeah I like his neil degrasse tyson interviews the best cuz he respects him and doesn't stay in character at all
