Kayak Fishing and Big California Halibut Took the Swimbait

- What another great day on the water having some fun with good friends. FIshed pretty close to the same structure that we fished the day before which was the prior video to this one and managed to score a halibut myself just 24 hours later.
This guy came in at 16lb and 35inches. Amazing how much those 4 inches in length add in the weight of the fish.
If you're watching this on the day it is released we are currently heading to San Diego to jump on the Islander out of Fishermans Landing and be targetting some nice gamefish hopefully. Stay tuned for that video soon.

Been a bunch of nice fish recently. These fish went strait to the dumpster after being filleted.
I fish NJ for Summer Flounder and I can't get over how similar similar CA Halibut look like the east coast flat fish with one major exception besides the eye placement...they make the Summer Flounder look like peanuts. In terms of rareness that 16lb is probably like getting a 5lb Flounder. 99.9% of flounder fisherman will never catch anything above 12lbs let alone 16lbs.
Its amazing how fish across the country can be so similar in everything from look to taste.
