Tbf I can do a lot of work even on my iphone so I am curious how unbelieveble people will think it will be
I did a demo of the Vision Pro at at Apple Store today, and the only thing that really caused a wow moment for me was the immersive video. Navigation of the UI was very accurate, but it would take some getting used to. I’m excited to see how this product will evolve over the next few generations. In the current state, I personally wasn’t wowed enough to spend $4,000 on a product I knew I would return.
Can’t help but feel that this device is part of the reason why Apple is not interested in really making multi-windows work on iPad OS. I mean, this runs multiple iPad apps that can be anywhere. The cynic in me also think that the one Mac window is designed to be that way because they want a new App Store with new revenue. In Australia this device will be crazy expensive when eventually released. Really think that version 2 of this device that benefits from better power management will be more likely to entice me.
I can’t speak to the state of stage manager on iPadOS, but in terms of the one Mac screen, it’s better than I thought it would be when you can make that one screen 100” large and open native windows next to it.
Great video I’ve been watching everyone’s videos & takes on Vision Pro and I’m getting more excited to just go & try it see how the future is going cause I believe all u guys this is where the future of tech is going as far as media consumption, social media, etc… thank u and very much loving the podcast overtime 😎🤙🏻🐬
Ah that makes sense as that’s probably another reason they needed an external battery. Even with the trade offs, I think Apple made the right choice to blow people away with great pass through and VR. They could have done a worse version, but I think this is the smart way to start in a new world where you need people to be like wow.
What I've found interesting is that you can't let's say switch batteries, you have to disconnect one in order to plug the "next" one, or you have to be attached to the charger, there's no intention of continuous usage
Cool video! I’ve really enjoyed it so far, but it’s definitely fragile! I dropped mine once because of the battery cord getting stuck on a chair arm and it actually scratched the glass panel! Luckily it was not where the camera is, but it was nerve wrecking! I also got the care plan 🙏🏻
🐬 I really think that they should show the VR gaming possibilities. A lot of people think that the device doesn't have horsepower to do this, and if Resident Evil 4 VR was ported to Vision Pro, maybe using the PSVR2 controllers would be a awesome showcase to bring that sort of interest in this awesome machine! I've booked my demo for this Thursday, can't wait to test it! (Also I'm from Brazil! Only here for a couple of weeks, but I feel very lucky to get the chance to try it!)
I'd like to see apple come out with a feature that allows your share what you're viewing in AR with ANYONE else over airplay whether it's to their iPhone/iPad or another Vision Pro I don't mean screen sharing what you're seeing but having shared AR assets the are identically position locked and content synced and the other person has their own independent point of view of AR objects apart from yours.
I would advise anyone to withhold judgement on the AVP until you actually try it out..I was not buying the hype but after getting demo all I have to say is WOW!!! It truly has to be experienced first hand! These RUclips videos don’t do it justice! I got lost in that damn thing 😂
i think what you said is spot on. Look at it like buying a 150" portable TV that has some bonus features. It makes perfect sense to buy an Apple XDR Display or a huge flat screen OLED and those cost way more than the Vision Pro and can't be moved from room to room as easily. The fact you get basically a macbook air along with it is a bonus. The fact you can do immersive stuff is another bonus. That's my take at least. View it as a monitor/display and judge it based on that.
I spent the last better half of the last two weeks trying to think about use case scenario's for myself. And the analogy that I think about is driving directions. Here is what I mean. When you have to get to a destination usually you have options and typically you always chose the shortest/ fastest distance from point A to point B . Occasionally though ,if you have a scenic route as an option, you may decide to take that slower scenic route instead. To me, Vision Pro , or any spatial device , for now, is that scenic route choice. I don't think I can see a place where you will be more efficient in your daily workflow using this device. I see it has an an occasional device when you want to have a delightful experience, consuming some amazing media content , photography content or web content, but again in terms of productivity, I just don't see I don't see how spatial interface, specifically eyesight and tap interface, will be superior in efficiency of work, as to what productivity of point, click & touch interfaces have given us over the years. What are your thoughts?
Once people find a way to incorporate this into their life, BEYOND looking at it as a means to do work, perception will change and we will evolve. Because I can guarantee that the next generation will adopt this into their day to day lives (similar to the mobile phone) and drag the rest of us with them into the future, which is happening right now.
I think the price for the Apple Vision Pro is pretty reasonable especially when comparing it to something like the Microsoft Hololens 2 (which starts at the same price as the Apple Vision Pro and goes to $5k) and the Varjo XR-3 ($6k for a yearly subscription to nearly $20k to purchase out right on certain models).
I remember when the iPad was introduced and the big criticism was that it was just a content consumption device. I expect that Apple has an evolution plan for the Vision Pro as well. As a gen 1 OS and piece of hardware it's very impressive.
I am having a blast with the AVP. Between working on my laptop with this and watching some great 3D content this is fantastic piece of tech. The UI is crazy impressive.
Useful descriptive video on the features and using it, thanks. I hope you take your dog out for hunting small game or at least chasing... ;-) The productivity section was most interesting. Any thoughts on visor headset which can use 5 screens (but is not out yet) and is a lot lighter headset. For sure for Entertainment/Media AVP makes sense but given it's not great for productivity and is cumbersome an costly it will be interesting to see the future uses of this device aside from productivity killer as you say. Thanks, I'll leave a dogo at the end: Happy hunting.
2 wants,,, one native keyboard and trackpad support,,, two,, keyboard and trackpad, or mouse inclusion in environments,, or even a floating table top? this would make things must better,, got avp launch day, I haven't used my Mac monitor, tv, once since,, its crazy how the workflow could be with some small tweaks
Hearing from some people about a "binocular" effect when using it. Is there a vignette-like border that you notice when using the VP and if so, is it noticeable/distracting when consuming media?
You can see the black edges if you point your eyes all the way to the left or right. And a tiny bit at the edge has color fringing. I’ve been loving it for watching movies. You’re staring at the center of the screen and don’t notice these things while you’re just enjoying content. Although there is a bit of lens glare if when you watch bright content on a dark background. Still I’d say it’s the best video consumption device ever. The natural and cinema environments catch the screen’s light and are pretty much photorealistic.
@@acslater017 thanks for that! I do some video editing in my workflow but have a 16in MBP and 12.9in iPad Pro for all that. Really was sold on the 100 ft screen for content so was hoping it worked as advertised.
i have a hard time believing that cable is power only, it has a ton of pins. it probably is proprietary to Apple technicians atm though. I don't see why it couldn't have data pass through to the USB-C port. I wonder if it's soft locked or if the hardware isn't there. Has anyone taken the battery apart yet?
It still would be nice if they let you mirror the iPad or iPhone but so far…not yet it sounds like. I still think the more options, the better. Especially with a computer thing. But yea I guess you don’t need to mirror those devices since you essentially have a ton of iPad apps on the device.
@@scottmartin5492 yea good call. Wasn’t thinking about that. Creative way to get the external stuff working on it. Yea hopefully they allow more in that area.
I fire up my HP Reverb G2 headset, paired with 4090 GPU and run proper VR AAA game. The immersion of this experience is on another level, it’s unmatched. Vision Pro is an innovative peace of hardware but in terms of user experience it is so so poor. It basically has very little to offer at the moment.

Apple told me not compatible with M1 computer only M2 and above. Have anyone else hard the as? I see Reddit say some people are saying it works fine on M1 computers.
What an ironic comment. You’re literally on a social media / video streaming app on a smartphone. Anything more than a bicycle is just “for the sake of it”.
I do think it’s an interesting question. The phone and tablets let you see the world. We already have AirPods that let you listen to anything you want while you are using your eyes to see the real world. So I do think this technology is different. It has the potential to do more. Kinda like holograms always looked super cool in science fiction movies back in the day. I think we are realizing that was a cool idea, but we don’t need things creating holograms. The whole thing could be a hologram all the time. But I do admit this is a scary potential future.

It feels like all the efforts to bring a window system to iPad was just a trial run towards the window system in Vision Pro. Even though the UI layer of the window system is bespoke to the Vision Pro, I suspect the multi-tasking system was foundational.
VR/AR is something you might not think you're interested in but the more you learn its potential, the more amazing it gets. It's more of a self discovery that you need to dig deeper to found its value unlike any other devices which is the other way around

I love your review, but you're talking just so fast! I'm English and it's my native language,... but I found this hard going. Just slow down a bit. please. thanks
Revenue generating tasks? Who cares. 90% of people or Apple customers use their apple product for communication information entertainment and that is it. Revenue generating.. that is a small group. Very small. I know it is called Pro but that is just a name.
Relatively speaking there is effectively nothing "first" about the Apple AR/VR, other than the insane price (and yes, their HMD device is nothing more than AR/VR - you can put a tuxedo on a cow but its still just a cow). They're name changers - not game changers - and they're 10 years late to the party but expect to be the talk of the event because they're apple but their fans aunt buying the hype on this occasion but its nice advertising for existing and founding AR/VR devs!
You know there are a ton of VR goggles in the market right? In witch they do better things and better screens. The Apple Vision Pro is kinda behind in innovations from other VR Goggle. With around $120 you can buy a Quest 2 that does more. And with Around $400 you can buy the Quest 3 that is just amazing.
Other vr headsets are great and all but Apple is the one to properly market such amazing device to become everybody device and Vision Pro have the best spec in standalone in a lot of ways
@@thedinosaurzeco Oh that's not all is capable of at all. You'll be amazed of how vr and ar is still in its 3% potential compared to other device which have already reached 100% like 2 decades ago. There is much thing you can do than screens or how it is showed in Apple's demonstrations and reveal trailer. Why couldn't it have a calculator is it a hardware limitation to you???
I've had 3 Macs, countless iPhones, 2 Apple TVs, 2 Apple Watches and an AirPort Extreme. I'm not remotely interested in this product. EDIT: And 2 iPads.
How is walking down the streets of NYC with a $3,500 device on your face a safe practice, please people use some common sense, I can see some thug running by and ripping your headset of your face.
It’s definitely an amazing piece of tech. But aren’t we all way too distracted by our devices already? Last thing I want to do is now strap that device to my face and have it invading my living space. This seems like a step too far in computing. I want a quasi church/state wall between my computing life and the real world. And of course it’s going to have a familiar interface to the iPad. Apple isn’t going to release a product wherein the user has to learn a whole new way to interact with it. That would violate Apple’s principles of human interface design dating back to the very first Mac desktop metaphor. And it doesn’t beg a question. It RAISES a question. Begging a question is assuming a conclusion in a premise. It’s a logical fallacy. Stop misusing this phrase like you and thousands of others do. So annoying.
Never has been interested of any Apple product until Vision Pro, the downside is that is locked within Apple eco system. There is other VR/AR product that serve differently and good in its own right but Vision Pro for overall quality is the best in the market but not in value
@@toututu2993 I'll wait for an Android version. I am absolutely certain there will a company or two that will come out with an Android version of Vision Pro. Saying that this product is innovating is delusional even to an apple fanboy like me... like bro there are several other headset that do the same already

Did my demo today and, oh boy! They're pretty freaking amazing. I'm not sure if I'd pay $3500 for them but I can't say they aren't "magical". They're going to haunt me. 😂
You might use this as your TV... But that's yours nobody can see it. It's very disconnected dude... 4000 buys a lot of tvs.

What a great honeymoon period it was. Now reality sets back in… 😭
9:02 She isn’t wearing anything and you’re watching NBA instead?
Where are your priorities!! 😊
Other vr headsets are great and all but Apple is the one to properly market such amazing device to become everybody device and Vision Pro have the best spec in standalone in a lot of ways
nah the others are way behind the VisionPro
@@toututu2993 dude all you do is have a screen in front of you.. no games.. no calculator app
It’s all for showing you have no financial life
@@thedinosaurzeco Oh that's not all is capable of at all.
Sure, I want to wear a $4000 set of goggles on the streets of NYC! NOT
I thought I activated a 2x video speed or something, you talk too fast lol
Wow your guide dogs rubbish whats his name Lucky ? 🤣
That’s Archie ! 😂
@@9to5Mac You're really going to have to train him a lot better than that, if you're going to be walking around in vision pro goggles 😉
Who talks sports with their wife? 😂😂😂
Not a real life scenario
first
you can buy a sick gaming laptop and a quest 3 for 3500$ just sayin .
*less than. 😂
You can build a 4090 PC and an OLED for less 😂
This device only work for Apple fan boi/gurl
Never has been interested of any Apple product until Vision Pro, the downside is that is locked within Apple eco system. There is other VR/AR product that serve differently and good in its own right but Vision Pro for overall quality is the best in the market but not in value
@@toututu2993 I'll wait for an Android version. I am absolutely certain there will a company or two that will come out with an Android version of Vision Pro. If Vision Pro become overwelmingly popular, it will only accelerate the process. Just like iPhone and Samsung competing against each other. I can't stand the Apple ecosystem.
Saying that this product is innovating is delusional even to an apple fanboy like me... like bro there are several other headset that do the same already
You just spent 3500$ , so sure you’ll be positive … I don’t think there is any point in this device… you do everything at same time, but accomplish nothing… you are not focused with all the windows
Meta quest wins 🎉🎉🎉
Microsoft and Google will create better versions of this product. Apple makes cheap crap these days.
