YFZ 450 Engine Teardown | Replacing Case Half Pt1

- Today were working on a 2005 yfz450 atv.
Chain went through the case and broke it.
Customer tried to weld it but it didn't go as planned and clutch actuator was stuck.
So were disassembling the engine and swaping a new case half in there.

2002 Grizzly 660 4x4 on demand plus Dif lock in dark green
2005 Polaris Sportsman 500 4x4 in dark green
Bikes:
Pitster pro x2 with Piranha yx140cc engine (camera bike)
Thumpstar 125 with 140cc big bore kit Black
Pitster pro x4 150cc Blue
SSR 170cc Black
SSR 170cc Orange
Would this be the same process for the right side case replacement? Meaning could you leave the crank,transmission and internals sitting in the left side case and put a new right side on?
Did you have issues with the new case? A lot of people make a big deal about mis matched cases. I need to replace my right case.
dont do it get matching sets
Hello I currently have a damaged left half.. a piece broke that holds the timing chain guide.. I bought a new case set, but I'm trying to get that piece welded on and maybe build 2 engines .. my question for you is, did your new half match the other side half? I hear that you cannot use different case for themselves. That they are a married set .. any thoughts or comments on that.

I’ve herd the same but I have swapped with other case half’s and it seemed to work just fine. I’ve had a local shop quote me on swapping one of the case half’s as well. So I think it should be just fine but I’m not a professional so I can’t say for sure 🤷🏻♂️

You’re not supposed to mix and match cases if you’re replacing one you do both they are cast as one

That would be left side.

Yes it’s very similar
Only difference is the Yz has a kick start and the yfz has a electric starter

That was a job I did for a customer. It would come out to roughly 1000$ in labor and customer buys parts.
I’d do it for others but if your not local it makes it difficult
