  • 👉 Ido Portal is the world-famous "movement guru" to MMA superstars like Conor McGregor.
Here are the 7 most powerful lessons I learned from his Method.
    🔥 [READ BLOG]: www.gotrom.com/blog/ido-portal
Ido himself is an impressive athlete.
In fact, his mastery of his body (what he calls "self-dominance") is what led me to train with his Method in 2014.
Beyond Ido, his "Movement Culture" is also a force of nature.
Poised to rival even Crossfit, Bodybuilding, Running, and Yoga - he and his "movement" are taking the world by storm.
    But who is this "guru"?
    What does he teach?
Are his teachings for average Joe's and Jane's too?
🎥 In a video highlighting his method, Ido explains:
“Bro, what kind of muscles you have?”
“No-bro, what kind of patterns you have?
    Can you flip?
    Can you invert?
    Can you crawl?”
    You see...
❌ For Ido, being buff and lean isn't the goal.
✅ It's about the Patterns. Movement. Movement complexity.
...and yes, even average Joe's and Jane's can benefit.
    In fact...
Todays' video shares the 7 most powerful lessons you can implement NOW.
    Enjoy!

Ido Portal brought these movement principles to the mass and I feel grateful for that and also his strong leadership in the "movement culture" development, but lets not forget either that his material comes in large part from Gymnastic Bodies and his first mentor Coach Sommer.

Shane, incredible and generous sharing here, thank you very much!!
I’ve known about Ito for a few years but didn’t study him much . Seeing your video (link after seeing the lovely Dr Andrew Huberman do a video with him )Im a 60 yr old F in okay shape but sadly lacking in real flexibility and this helped me to identify my top 3 goals (splits, resting Asian squat and a back bend. I’ve always done the Eastern sit because I’ve been fascinated by it)
I already feel so many of these things that you mentioned and it was nice to hear someone else say them.
The things that helped me the most in your video was not to worry about monotony and that “unsafe” motions are not unsafe if you prepare for them. 👌 (with progressive load) That being the nagware and unprepared is the real issue…
And duh, the #1 thing everyone recommends; don’t miss sessions…it’s a real commitment.
These are such common sense things and it’s good to see so many disciplines converging into healthy movement.
I have a book called “The Genius of Flexibility” you might be interested in it, it’s quite interesting.
I also watch the incredible Tapp brothers and GMB for primal movements.
Thanks again for your very helpful video and for the things that you’ve added as well, I’ll be looking into those.

@@GotROM well yeah. Any tips on hamstring tightness?
I practice Ashtanga Yoga, strength training, movement, sprints, but there are times where I just can’t seem to recover in decent time from yoga session. Should I just build my hamstrings more in volume and strength or is it time to find a concrete solution?
My teacher won’t let me work on my horizontal splits, says it’s to early (I’m almost done with primary series)

What is the goal in ido Portal?

    • @GotROM

Hey Dulquar, good question! Basically for me, it's movement, strength, knowing your goals and pursuing them with awareness and clarity. At the same time, if you'll try them, you might have a different insight. It usually differs for each person.

and BtW I don't think that continuous progress from one session to another is a realistic principle, I mean tendons and ligaments adapt slower than muscles, unless you are young and with optimal genetics (or on steroids) there is no way you can avoid plateau or you will likely injure yourself.

    • @GotROM
      @GotROM  2 года назад +1

Depends on what metric you are using for progress. Progress can be form, depth, "feel", tempo, weight, reps, speed, etc, etc. With microplates you can even progress weight pretty consistently. But, of course, never force anything just because you're "supposed" to constantly progress 1 variable. What's your take on that? :-)

  • @hobbybaschtler7896

While it is impressive what Ido does, the way he is portrayed as an "enlightend mover" is a bit strange to me. It seems a bit elitist. I get that he is very versatile in his movements, but if you compare him to other professional athletes it seems, that others know his truths aswell.
