Really enjoying these couple of tutorial style videos. The traffic light analogy is a smart one to follow. I also think when demo-ing a racquet that the stick which you feel most confident stepping in and hitting green light balls is probably the one to roll with(assuming comfort is there too).
Yep! Excellent advice with the green, yellow and red zones to determine shot selections, also true is the person who plays more balls back onto the court wins the match (proven by so many pushers at club levels).
Very nice illustration of shot selection. Could it have been useful to also show what happens when you make the wrong selection? Loved Karl's beautiful FH.
My most successful approach was aiming for that zone just beyond the reach of the player and low . Like when footballers strike ball and bounce just in front or side of goal keeper. All all this changes on how the player moves and predictability And mixing power and speed is another topic. Confusing opposing player to miss strike
Supernice content! Would be nice if you also could do a mental tips video. How to think before matches, during in different situation to not get so nervous and how to analyze the match after to get better.
This exactly what was needed for my game. I have been struggling recently with making the right choices. This will automate it for me. Rather than go for that Nadal wide x court backhand…..which ends up landing in the car park. Thanks
I am guilty of trying to hit too good of a shot at the first instance! I have been thinking I need to tone it back and be more patient and this makes a lot of sense.
Jonas, these Karl videos are outstanding! Lots of Prince Advertisements around the court…. nice to see. I know the pros don’t use Prince because of lack of sponsorships, but do you see Prince racquets being used at the club level?
Realy good video, and I understand the meaning of it. But the video doesn’t show the same things your partner says. As exampel, he takes some ”green shots” in the orange ”area”. After all, the meaning of the video is not to do that. But again, the video is realy good after all, and I understand what you want to explain with it.
This comment might not receive well, but I'm still going to say it. Sorry, I just can't stop laughing about it, I thought the video was just a joke. But seriously, the reason Karl is able to hit anywhere is because he has better fundamentals, so he can afford to hit whatever strategy he can afford to, meaning his range of shots is wider not due to better shot selection, but better shot production. E.g. Karl's cross court one hand backhand winner at the line at 18:30. If Tennisnerd attempt that shot it would not go in, not because his shot selection is bad but his shot production is just not at the same level. Saying red, green, yellow confuses me more and will make me hit worse than simply focusing on my shot production so I can hit freely since saying it out loud made me have less brain space to think about where I should hit to to win the game or match. When Karl said about increasing confidence and be able to hit smaller zones, that is funny because the whole point of the video in the beginning is to say that you should not go for risky shot, always go for the green zomes. If the strategy is never pushing the boundary, there is no chance someone has to figure out how to hit better to hit those smaller zones. Meaning those two suggestions are contradicting each other.
@@Tennisnerd I'm fine. I tried to be positive mostly but what I noticed is that all my positive comments makes me feels like I am lying and being a hypocrite. I'm mostly a straightshooter in real life, so trying to make a comment pretending to be part of an echo chamber just makes me feel weird. I didn't mean any ill intent, nor am I trying to attack anyone but I can see that my comment might rub off the wrong way to some people.
@@pencilcheck The video in general makes sense. The point is to not go for winners too close to the lines or too early in the point or from a difficult position... that is high risk, low margin tennis which won't help you win matches... you want to win matches or hit a couple of crazy winners every set but keep losing?!
@@mail2cmuthu i'm not exactly sure what you are trying to say. My point is not about crazy winner or hitting winner early. My point is simply that to improve you need to be able to hit better quality shots and that enables you to hit to a lot of places that were considered risky when you were lower leveled. Federer can't win if all he can do is hit to the center of the court. Nadal can't win if all he can do is to hit to the center of the court. Better players are more comfortable hitting lines when most lower players can't or even dared due to the lack of good technique.
@@pencilcheck No one asked you to keep hitting to the centre of the court lol... you really to understand this video... otherwise you will be hitting a lot of wide balls and keep losing against non-aggressive players at the same level as you...
One of your best instructional videos. So naturally it won't get half the views of a racquet review. He is a great coach.
This is great content, Jonas. Karl is a great coach indeed!
Everything that is said here is so true and to the point. A must watch for every amateurplayer. Thanx!

such a good content, spot on for most recreational player and the mistakes we made....
Thank you for this video, indeed very helpful for my singles game.
Brilliant content! Hitting every shot as a winner was exactly my pain on the court 😩
Not sure why I haven't heard of this system earlier, definitely going to work on it! Jonas & Karl are the best
This is exactly what I needed ! Haven't played a tournament in 17 years, but am about to, so this is gold to keep in mind !
really impressed w/ how he crushed those green zone balls which were only a foot or two inside the baseline!
Great advice. Enjoying this series, Jonas. Cheers!
Awesome video. Voice over by Karl is very helpful.
Glad it was helpful!

Great approach to game management. I need to settle down and make better decisions on the court. Thank you for the videom
Love Jonas' Ps Ncode. Old school
Great video, good solid advice!! Thank you 🙏

Happy you enjoyed it, John!
Short of pro, this is a great match tennis lesson.
Appreciate it, Marty.
Great content.
Thanks James!
Thanks!
Very good!
good coach
Shrink the court!
What if you are in the red zone and you see your opponent charging the net?
any suggestions for a soft-medium poly for my blade v7 16x19?
Hyper g soft
