Zverev indeed is playing at a very high level and he’s playing at his highest form of the season. I don’t expect Fritz would be a problem for him in the semis. If we do get a Zverev-Sinner Final that could be a classic.

If not for Sinner, Zverev would easily be the most improved player year on year. This guy is finding his levels this season and competing toe to toe with Sinner and Alcaraz. He's in his physical prime and his game has shown remarkable all round growth. Made the RG finals this year, and you expect him to be competing for all the slams in 2025. If we exclude Djokovic, tennis has a new big 3. Finally some good competition for Sinner and Alcaraz outside of Djokovic.

    • @Mackay-z4r

Zverev's primary challenge lies in his mentality during tight, high-pressure matches in Grand Slams against top-tier opponents. While he possesses the skill and game to compete at the highest level, he often falters at critical moments, struggling to close out matches.

@@Mackay-z4rAs you can see in this match and the last match vs Ruud he is playing more confidently and did well in the tiebreaks. That will help him in the future to be better more successful in close matches to be mentally stronger. He greatly has improved his serve, forehand and net play this year. The mental side is also something he is working on. With much of the personal drama in the past being over and his injury being healed he will be able to be more focused and confident mentally.

Zverev has upgraded many parts of his game the last few seasons. His volleys are much better, his forehand is much better under pressure, and his first serve is now one of the best in the game (second serve still a little shaky, but not the weakness it once was either). The last thing that Zverev needs to upgrade is his mental fortitude in grand slam finals

Zverev has multi Slam winning potential if he plays fearless tennis like he displayed this tournament.
He becomes too passive in big Slam matches.

Zverev is often underrated compared to the current duopoly Jan-Carl but a reminder that he's come back from a long injury and still escalated back the ranking to become number 2. Also, he's won this tournament quite a few times.
This year could even achieve a grand slam victory.

Thats the way you have to play Carlos. Great performance by Zverev who has improved since his injury.
You clearly can see that Sasha made a development in personality and tennis skills.
I wish him all the best for him, cause it looks like that he is in his best years now.

Zverev finishing a lot of important points in the four court! Remember Federer mentioning that if zverev wants to win big matches , he needs to come forward and not hang back. That advice showed dividends in this match for sure!

For mer that half volley pickup by Zverev on the set point was such a clutch play that even Carlos was shell shocked because he was thinking Zverev could never get that ball on his side of the net. It surely was a turning point of the match.
