Question if anyone cares to answer: you can use a more powerful frame to get more power on your shots, or you can keep the same frame and lower the tension and that gives you more power too, right? What's the difference? Why would you choose one path over the other?
Hmm my 1st thought is the consistency of the effect? Poly tension loses tension quickly, the other is maybe an effect on feel/time on strings? Also I think rebound angle is affected? I once dropped to 33lbs and gave it a decent amount of time and couldn’t adjust. I usually play around 45-47
You can get more depth with a lower tension, but it will be more of a slingshot power than the power that a stiff frame gives, which is more like a direct effect from the string bed. Try and see if the lower tension works for you. I tend to play better with a stiffer frame at my usual tension, but that can be uncomfortable for the arm at times.
@@Tennisnerd That's interesting. I also prefer stiff racquets but Ive always struggled with over hitting. I kept upping the tension on my multi strings and it never helped but recently I switched to a soft poly at 50lbs and it was a big improvement. Similar power level but it feels more direct for me. I keep wondering if I should switch to 16x19 to try and help with spin but the idea of a more launchy stringbed makes me reconsider.
Very interesting video - thank you! The player that stands out to me who could use a racquet change would be Tiafoe - during his long spell in 2024 when he was doing poorly, it became clear that the margin amongst top 50 players is very narrow, and playing with a Vcore Pro (in a Percept paint job) against guys who are bringing so much power, I feel like he is doing himself a disservice and needs to always be fighting uphill with such a low powered frame. He doesn't necessarily have a big weapon of his own, and that became clear during his long dry spell.
Interesting! I just got a cheap pure aero 98. I dismissed it early on because it hurt my arm, but today it didn't. Do you have any string and tension to recommend?
I like the feel of higher tensions so im more hesitant to change, but almost everyone everywhere is saying lower is the way to go (my elbow would probably agree). If i went for a slightly firmer string and dropped the tension, would that give the benefits of the lower tension or would the two changes cancel out?
@@Tennisnerd Agreed! PA100 is probably a better option for most rec players. I loved the PA98 and played well with it, but the feel just isn't for me and made tennis less fun. If I was playing mostly doubles though and feel didn't matter, I'd opt for the PA100 with it being more forgiving and easier put-away power.
Grigor Dimitrov I think should make a racket switch from a 95 to a 97 or 98, he still plays really good for having a 95 head size, but I feel he can unleash some crazy power potential in his ground strokes.
I set my my PA98 with exact sinner specs and ive never been so dominant from the baseline, the stability and power I could generate was insane. I ultimately stopped using that setup because touch shots, volleys and defence were tough! To play with these specs you need to swing super fast on every shot, but oh my can you counter punch like a god. For reference I’m a 9.5 UTR.
I really want to see Fritz make a change. Super light (relatively) 95sqin 18x20 and he keeps getting overwhelmed by Sinner.
Yeah, good point, I think he has been with his IG Radical MP since the dawn of time
Sinner would have to downgrade to a wooden racket to give others a chance haha
I feel like in a few years we'll say that the aero 98 was one of the best rackets ever made

lol you have been in Peninsula Club! that's a club I am playing in .. love it!
Beautiful club! You are a lucky guy
@ club is indeed second to none, thank you! Sad I didn’t know you are here, would love to see you playing with PA98 as I use it too :)
It's the balls. Never seen balls as slow as this year. It's like they are playing with the kids red dot training balls

Thanks! Interesting with Tiafoe
Daniil needs a Pure Drive, he needs to be a serve bot against the top guys
Hmm...his baseline game is so control-oriented and flat, not sure that would work, but it would be fun to see him play one
That string combo looks cool on the aero. Is the vcore 100 more powerful than the aero 98?
Yes.
Interesting! I just got a cheap pure aero 98. I dismissed it early on because it hurt my arm, but today it didn't. Do you have any string and tension to recommend?
Maybe a softer Solinco like Tour Bite Soft or Hyper-G Soft at 50 lbs
The rallies these days are ridiculous. So many absolute athletes
Ezone 98 or PA98??
Ezone can serve bombs.

I think firm and low is better than soft and high
I love highish tension. Playing with RPM blast 52 lbs in my pure aero... not gonna go sub 50 lol
You need to find a string that you can string low without losing control like lynx tour for example
it's so tempting to buy PA 98 but I know it's too demanding and I will play worse than with regular Pure Aero 100
Nothing wrong with the Aero 100!

@Tennisnerd obviously
Great racket
Aero vs + tour Bite Soft 43 lbs.
Sounds like a good setup

Isn't he already on a pro staff 97 custom 18x18 pattern?
Grigor uses a RF97 with an 18x18 pattern
LMAO. Another new string from toroline ?
Not a poly though
Εverybody needs to switch to Sinner s Racket it so obvious for me
