How do you distinguish between gold and other metals using your detector? My detector has a ferrous discrimination setting which should in theory ignore signals from nails, iron, objects made from iron etc. Yet I continually keep digging up objects made from iron. A friend of mine keeps telling me to listen more carefully to the signal - he claims that he can often tell when the signal is gold or a ferrous based object. Sometimes I think I have learnt the skill but I can't repeat it out in the field often enough to be confident in what my ears are telling me.
So I use the old technique of digging up EVERYTHING and hoping it's the right metal.
    😁

It's taken me years for my ears to become tuned into what a good target sounds like. You still need to dig them all just in case but when it's a Low going high sound and deeper than normal then get a bit more excited. Different detectors and coils are different. Just get used to your setup. Thanks for your comment.

Most of the time I find gold. Occasionally I have a one or two day drought but then I go back to where I know the gold is and carefully detect and generally find some more. Even I don't get it all. Different days and different settings seem to find those nuggies that are missed previously. Thanks for the comment and for watching. Much appreciated.
