Is The Sonicake Matribox 2 Better Than It's Predecessor?
A little while ago, Sonicake sent me their Matribox guitar pedal to test out & I was impressed at how much it offered in such a small package. Now they have just released the new & improved Matribox 2 guitar pedal & today i get my hands on it to test it out and talk about the difference between this model and it's predecessor - and answer the question... is it any better?
Hope you enjoy the video!

For the $229(usd) this unit is hands down the best out there! There is no other muti effect unit that sounds as good
for the $$$!
Is it better than valeton jr200?
What an intro. That seriously rocked 👻🫨😎🫨👻
Superb playing mate, great skills, really appreciated that. Man i wish i had your dexterity!.
finally got it, what a piece of kit it is. Good advice pal, here we go.
Very nice demo ..
I like the design and look of this unit . Very affordable
I am getting one ..
you make it sound good!! congrats!! which is your actual live setup? still powered by tech21?
Seems like a decent piece of kit Rob and for some a very reasonable price.💯👍
Definitely! Very impressive for sure
That brit gain patch seemed a bit anemic compared to the others.
Does the matribox 1 sound the same as matribox ii....obviously there other options that are certainly an upgrade. But in terms of sound only, how do they compare?
They both sound the same. The matribox-2 just has more features
@@ChakraOver9k thank you.
@@Reldvs1 They have the exact same processor. Don't let these reviews fool you. I own both of them and there's no difference in tone
Hi, I am intrested in its looper. Does it have a looper that I can turn of with a single stomp? And how about the pitch shifter? Is it ok as a capo? tks!
Anyone know how the looper and drummer features in the Sonicake MatriBox2 compare to the Donner Arena 2000? The Donner offers no count-off feature when using the drummer -- in fact, the drummer and looper seem totally isolated -- as in, the drummer does not even stay in sync with the looper.
Hi nice sounds, I already own the first Matribox, I generally practice at home with headphones. Do you think it is worth to get the Matribox 2?
Thank you.
I don't have the OG Matribox for comparison, but I have the Matribox II. The II has a solid metal case, and extra CTRL button (so you don't have to go into stomp mode to enable/disable effects), a larger screen, and individual buttons to enable/disable certain effects as Rob noted. It's super easy to create/modify your own patches. I've found I don't really need to use the software.
I debated on saving the $100 USD and getting the OG Matribox. I'm glad I spent the additional $100.
I’d say so! You definitely won’t need the first one if you have the second 🤟
Hi there, I think I can help here! I just bought my Matribox I a few months back and stumbled across the Matribox II probably not more than a few days after Sonicake’s eBay page first posted it a few weeks ago. Bought it immediately. Why? Do you ask. Well one thing was very important to me. The FX Loop. Now I can add any type of stomp boxes that I want into the chain. On the whole though, I personally feel the sounds are very much upgraded(I actually tried them both back to back), they added a bunch of new amps, cabs and pedals, the bigger screen is a very big plus, having the buttons for each effect on the unit itself makes changes a lot more fluid and quickly, the metal chassis it’s in is more robust than the plastic of the first unit, supports midi, now there are 100 free spots for your own patches while still maintaining the original preset patches and on the whole, the flexibility of each effect and amp I feel has been upgraded with a few new bells and whistles in terms of tone shaping with a few options that were not with the originals amp models. All in all it’s a worthy upgrade for me. Not all is lost with your Matribox I however! I’m keeping mine as a night time headphone amp and that’s okay. It still does a bang up job as a headphone amp.
@@kickitindad Hi there! Thank you again for your input. Super cool! I will let know how how much of a difference in sound!
Consideras que supera a la nux mg30?
Can you plug it directly into PA or front of house without the need for a DI box?
almost certainly!
How do I adjust the volume level of the AUX IN input?
Good price and I wanted to like it......but it sounds pretty average unfortunately. Very digital.
I always find that with the budget multi effects there's lag when changing from one effect to the other. Like going from overdrive to clean its usually really noticeable. Does this pedal suffer from switch lag?
