Hi Akshay Patil, good question, thanks for your comment! Many banks ask less fees, but give you a very bad exchange rate, like also the two banks that you are mentioning. Transferwise instead gives you the actual exchange rate and you only pay the fees. This is very transparent. This is why the amount you can find under "You Receive" in the same table is highest for Transferwise. In Bank of Ireland the amount I would have received is more than 14.000 INR less than what I got through Transferwise.

Hi Loki, as per my experience the transfer times depend largely on your bank from which you make the transfer to TransferWise. Once the money reached TransferWise it usually is very quick (significantly less than 5 hours).

You do not need wise for it. You can use an Indian credit card and activate it for international transactions (more fees), or you can also load a prepaid card with Euro that you can use in ATMs in Germany and take some cash at the same time. Usually banks like Axis Bank will assist you to get such card as well as Cash in Euros already in India. Remember in Germany everytime you use other cards in ATMs, a charge is levied depending on the bank.

For performing transfer itself, You don't need to pay tax. But if it's a profit or earning then you might depending on the scenario. You should consult CA for that.

We can't send money from US (or any other country) to India through Wise. It's facilitating outward remittances only from India under the guidelines set out by RBI.
Hi Sahil, I did my last big transfer to India from Germany through Wise last year in February. I am not aware that they have changed the rules or that this is not possible anymore. I just checked on their page and I can still choose sending money from EUR to INR as before.

Sounds fake. Why should u pay tax to him, if at all then to the government. Do not transfer.

They have changed the company brand name but in principal this should work. The interface might be different.
