im doing this with a John Deere LT160, ive already lowered it, swapped a manual transmission into it and swapped a Kawasaki FH491V onto it. This is an amazing build and an amazing inspiration.
@@ghoulish- its honestly not too hard, if you have a mower and they made the same style of mower with a manual, id buy a used transmission from one of those. for me, i used a 6 speed from a craftsman lt1000 and i had to cut holes in the body for a shifter so its not the cleanest, but you can do it with anything you have avabile
I’m a certified John Deere mechanic and I absolutely love it. I’m in the process of doing the same thing with an stx38, almost identical to the 108. The only thing I would caution is that without the fan shroud you’re running waaaay hotter than you need to be and are probably going to blow head gaskets or drop a valve guide if it hasn’t done so already. They run surprisingly well with a blown head gasket and dropped valve guide. Can’t wait to do this to mine. No
Had one made from an old cub cadet with a yz490j two stroke in it. Thing was wicked fast and Its what i drove to HS because i never got my license until after lol We didn't use much besides the body, frame, and controls. We got rid of the trans axle and it was turned into a chain drive to accommodate the new engine and trans. Turned the deck lift into the gear selector as well as mounted the clutch to it, making it a grip and rip, turned the brake into the throttle and the clutch into the brake. Thing was fun and could reach highway speeds with the gear ratio we had going on (I forget what the yz had going on but the rear was like a 20 tooth)
that is one siiiiick mower! Hats off to your ingenuity and craftsmanship at such a young age. Keep up the great work and you will surely go far in life with your mindset and skill!
it handles well becaise of the front neg camber. dont let anybody tell you to change it... very nice work. the welds can be cleaned up. what matters it appears sturdy and looks like it rides great
I had an older JD riding mower from the 80s, cant remember the model #, when I was a kid in the early 2000s. My dad and I put a smaller pully on the transmission and that thing literally went 20+ MPH and could burn rubber and damn near pop a wheelie. About 6 months later the transmission was burned out haha.
Awesome job to you both! When you nail it , it's just right. You have started a trend now, I think the world will see more of your creations if you stay in the game. Go with your design gut instinct and you will win.and
WOW. How the f is that transaxle holding up that much time? Thats crazy. Not 1 broken gear since you swap? Is it getting hot after a while? looks like a beast, congrat :D
I don't mean to diss you but my old welding teacher from high school would have sent me back to home room if I showed him those welds! Seriously, it's all good if it holds.
That's awesome bud❤️🔥! Job well done👍🏻😃! Replace the pullys & belt with sprockets & chain & add a small racing wing to the back😁! Thanks for sharing. . . .be safe👌🏼
So with this could you retain a stock cutting deck and cut the lawns Cause I know it’s low but it looks low from the body dropping not so much suspension or frame low
@mycustomgokart your craftsmanship will come in time. That little tractor is rad as hell brother. I built the two bicycles on our channel here when I was like 15-20 years old. Keep up the good work!
That got me thinking but I don’t think it would work unless you put a torque converter on the front. Since the engine shaft is always moving it wouldn’t work, you wouldn’t be able to stop.
i do enginineering for trade so im not guna say much apart from as long as you have lots of fun that kind of all that matters and being your first build ...not to bad-ive seen worse😁good to see you've improved with each build, bravo young man👏👏👏
Easily the best looking low mower I’ve ever seen! My son and I are starting one this weekend, thanks for the inspiration bud.
Can you adopt me?

Hey I’m working on a John Deere 160 would love to get in contact on how you did some of the lowering stuff on your John deere

Amazing build! Love the build it’s beautiful!
This video has cleared up so many questions. Built one and I sorta sucks, but now I found a better one to build. Thank you for this video.
I just picked one of these mowers up for this same build . I'm not a very good fabricator. But I'm going to give it a shot
Thanks for the inspiration
The way to learn is to just do it.
cruising and drifting on it looks so smooth and flowy, Love the build!
Im planning to do something like this so this is such an inspiration for me man
post updates! would 100% watch it g
yeah same upload that shit
The stance on this thing is on point!🤘🏻
Thank you for making a racing mower the way it should be made, garbage welds and all, keep up the good work!
🤣🤣🤣
that thing is just classy ^^

All he did was put a smaller pulley on the back?
@@floridagirl386 Smaller pully and a shorter belt, yes. And it went incredibly fast.
This is a must-have for me and my son. Thank you so much for posting this video!
Probably every guy in the comments checking fb marketplace for a JD 108 mower right now 😂
Can’t deny I havent looked
How did you know 💀
Bro I hope more people will find you from ig, this is lit af
Thanks man 🤟

Yeah, that’s a cool little rig you got their, gives me some great ideas for my own build!
Just epic lads. Probably my favourite video of 23! Light hearted, good fun, nice build. Not sponsored??? Whaaat 🤷🏻🤣
Y’all out here making history Fr fr
This guys gotta create like a kart shop. Kids brilliant.
You're a good egg young man, more power to ya!
That’s a really sweet looking John Deere! I used to race lawnmowers and I miss it!
you can still build another one!
Working on my 12 year old sons first mower now. I pulled an old craftsman out of the backyard & it has the ic gold.
WOW. How the f is that transaxle holding up that much time? Thats crazy. Not 1 broken gear since you swap? Is it getting hot after a while?

It does not matter what the weld look like as long as it runs and you're having fun it's all it matters
It's videos like this that inspire me to keep building. Now my craftsman is 1 magneto away from hitting 60 mph in its deep blue paint
Amazing build and creativity
I’m just looking at my riding mower right now smirking. 😂 this is awesome!
I don't mean to diss you but my old welding teacher from high school would have sent me back to home room if I showed him those welds! Seriously, it's all good if it holds.
So with the stock motor it runs that fast? Thought they were slow. Any advice on this would be a big help. Looking to start a similar project. 👌🏽
The mower rollers are so hard 😂
The real Mario!!!Bro!! Love it my guy
That's just flip'n cool right there !..........super sweet !
I just got a free craftsman rider with a junk deck and bad solenoid. Might have to chop and lower it like they. My kids would love it.
We need this in mario kart.
This dude just made a real life Mario Cart
That looks like a lot of fun 😊
Awesome build! How did you lower the front end? I have a Deere 111 that Im putting a v twin in.
I’m just confused how is the trans axle being flipped not making you to have reverse as forward and all the forward gears reverse
Me too I don’t understand
Flip and rotate
@@kar21ol96 rotating it would do nothing flipping it changes the direction the pulley will spin so im confused on this aswell.
Its sick bro! Is the trans axle locked
nice job with that john Deere 108 drift edition 👍👍💯💯🏆🏆🤛🤛
Awesome build man
It's Awesome! Don't take your buddy to seriously lol.. You gotta start somewhere. Let's see his build.
I really like this one.
Are you able to just flip the tractor transmission over and run it without issues?
Thanks for posting this
Top speed ? Governor? Awesome work !
That's rad man 🤘👌 makes me want to lower something to play around on
Is the transaxle locked in some way to eliminate the open diff and make both tires spin at the same time?
Awesome build. How’d you turn the deck lift into an e brake?
Its just a lever to pull the stock brake thats built into the transaxle
for our drift mower we rerouted the cable that raised & lowered the deck to the brake on the transaxle
That's awesome bud❤️🔥! Job well done👍🏻😃! Replace the pullys & belt with sprockets & chain & add a small racing wing to the back😁! Thanks for sharing. . . .be safe👌🏼
thats a nice project. 100%.
Amazing bro ! Just got one question, so u don't have break anymore ?
I mean u only have a hand brake now ?
i want to make on now so cool
👍
Anyone seeing this, what engine would you recommend for the same 108 he has?
Dang!!!! I love that Thing! 🎃
Such a beast
Is it available to purchase the 108 online? I’m having difficulties finding it and the closest I found is a 100.
Very cool!
What was the stock mower… does it matter which one you use. If so what is the best?
just guys doing what guys do best
So with this could you retain a stock cutting deck and cut the lawns
Cause I know it’s low but it looks low from the body dropping not so much suspension or frame low
My childhood becoming Mario kart!
That's amazing absolute ripper!
Awsome build ive got a jd 110 side shaft mower i will do something with one day
Are you a rapper 🧐🧐🧐🤔🤔🤔.... I heard a lot of good freaking rap songs in your videos. Is it you 🧐🧐🧐🧐👌👍
Great work fella. We're gonna build one

@@Shornandkenny hahaha that’s sweet!!
Thing looks fun as. Need to make one of my own
Hey, question what size Poly did you use to help you on the top end I'm in a process of making a 111 John Deere Racer mower. Thank you
This thing hard af
I think a 2 stroke dirtbike engine or like an atv engine would be pretty cool in that machine
You rock man so sick
Who do you replace those rear axles with? Just another one off of a different mower??
A ton of dumb fun for short money. I’d call that a big win
Did you have to get a different size belt after the pulley swap or did the spring just adapt to the size?
This is amazing.
OK question I have a John Deere 100 that has a three speed manual transmission. How would that work to turn into something like that
Your mower is pretty sick.. I race lawn mowers too
You eun that without the blower housing on the engine?
What a cool ride!
Belts are my weakness too bro still trying to figure out a chain system
Could you make a video of how you lowered the front?
How much speed can you get out of a stock engine and the pulley system upgrades?
Whats the width on the rear tires ? Im having a hard time finding 18x6.5x8 tires
This day and age, go with what you can get.
Is your diff welded?? Also did you put grease or gear oil?
Whats the top speed?
47mph
@@mycustomgokart pretty fast, makes me wanna build one more 😂
Can you switch the pulleys and belts out for sprockets and chain and use a standard clutch? I'm just wondering
That got me thinking but I don’t think it would work unless you put a torque converter on the front. Since the engine shaft is always moving it wouldn’t work, you wouldn’t be able to stop.
@@FarmFowlers I was saying a clutch like in a manual car or motorcycle, but a torque converter would do the same thing👍🏻

Where'd you get the exhaust stack? Or make it?
All stock motor?! No way! That’s sick 🔥
Yes way 😂
Pulleys 🤷🏻♂️
@masongetz3397 does the front pulley need to be bigger than the back? & is there a ratio I should be following for the trans to the front?
how the f did you just swap the rear, don't you have 4 reverse and one right gear?
You flip the axle thing upside down then 180
Yeah but in the video he only flips it over doesn’t do a 180 that’s why I’m confused. I have the same mower and all he does is flips it over.
She's a beauty
The beginning was as random as my dreams
That things sick I am going to buy a John Deere 108 with a v2 Kawasaki In it
This is the first time I have ever seen bald tires on a riding mower !
Shit boys we might have to meet up when I get my 111 done I didnt realize you guys were in Michigan, im just north of ya in Ontario
How did you lower the front end? Looks like you simply inverted the spindles?
That's the easiest way to do it.
