Apocalypse Now
Believe it or not... CCR were NOT from the south. They were from CALIFORNIA !!
MARILYN MANSON! React to him! Dope Hat, The Dope Show, Sweet Dreams...
The irony of this southern Mississippi sound is that they're all from California. React to "Run Through The Jungle" or "Lodi" next, please. You'll love any CCR song you listen to. Thanks, Polo. May GOD bless you and yours!
I hear California
Yep they really captured the vibe
my mind exploded when I found out that they were from Califorina. Im still not entirely sure I believe it.
And they rocked Woodstock, too!
@@richardbrown7239 From the Bay Area area yet
CCR didn't know HOW to make a bad song. Trust us, (all of the commentors), when we say that being you've loved the two Creedence songs that you've heard thus far, you'll probably love them all.
Absolutely!🤙
CCR wrote at least 30 of your new favorite songs
@@ZacCostilla They didn't write Suzie Q, they just recorded the hottest version of it.
@@rosevfx I know that. It was originally a Dale Hawkins song. But their version is the definitive version, for sure.
I'm not a fan if CCR at all. Hated Fogerty. The tribute band with actual members is pretty darned good, tho.
CCR has so many great songs, Fortunate Son, Have You Ever Seen the Rain, Run Through the Jungle, just so many great songs
_Born on the Bayou_ is my fave, but _Run Through the Jungle_ is a very close second.
Have you ever seen the rain is definitely one that a lot of reactors react to and each and every one of them likes it such easy listening music
as swampy as they sound and from Cali. John had a vision
Check out the long version of "I Heard it Through the Grapevine"... it is epic.
3 number 1 albums in 1969 .
First CCR tune I ever heard at age 12. Turned 68 two days ago. Love this more with every year. 😎
One of my favorite bands ever!! Love CCR
"Run Through the Jungle" is another superb C.C.R. tune.
CCR had at least *20 hits* in the space of about 3 short years... just unreal. And two of them (Born on the Bayou and the classic Midnight Special) aren't even on "Chronicle - The 20 Greatest Hits" (the album cover in your video), they saved those for "Chronicle part 2"!
CCR's song "Green River" would make your 4Runner list!
John Fogerty is a awesome singer and guitar player, he and his kids all play in a band together and they play his songs and they sound great
Best free concert ever seen at Spokane Fair grounds early 90s was so loud the legs of my jeans were vibrating ❤ ✌️ Polo...
The 60 and 70 were the best time for music. Loved living through it!
One of my all time favorites! The song and the band. Lov’m
OMG! 6th grade played this with my friend on a small record player over and over and over. Great memories associated with this song
Long As I Can See the Light. Incredible soulful vocals by John Fogerty. He also played electric piano as well as a tenor sax solo.
Saw them in concert 1970 in Monroe Louisiana plus Three Dog Night
The singer, John Fogarty, is on your right now. He’s getting up there, people should go see him! I saw him in 2017 and he was fantastic
My dad used to wake me up every day by coming into my room and singing this to me at the top of his lungs.
That southern/Mississippi sound you speak of - back in the day we called it swamp music.
So funky! Sick azz drums 🥁 and bass guitar 🎸
So glad you have found CCR. They are from El Cerrito, California, just north of Berkeley in the Bay Area.
more from CCR: Wrote A Song For Everyone, Long As I Can See The Light, Down On The Corner, Green River
I just recently found you on line and I love you finding these older and newer songs I have grown up with! Johnny cash to tool! all in my wheel house! we live in a house that all types of music is playing at almost all times. you don't know what you like until you open your mind and listen to the music and thought behind it.
Yay! CCR!
CCR, my first album. John Fogerty's voice and those rhythms...
John Fogerty is one of the greatest, most talented singer-songwriter-composer-instrumentalists of all-time, right up there with Lennon and McCartney; however, Susie Q is one of the few songs he actually didn't write. He WAS CCR, the principal songwriter for nearly all their songs. He was and continues to be a one-man machine! He is a living legend!
Polo, I remember hearing CCR when I was young and thinking what part of the swamp in Louisiana did they crawl out of? We had no internet to look it up. So years later when I found out they were from Northern California I was like WTF!? Their songbook includes so many great tunes. It still draws me back when dad was in Vietnam. 🖖🏼
This song always reminds me of Apocalypse Now.
I happen to love " I put a spell on you"!!! Credence Clearwater Revival! If you check it out, enjoy!!!!!
CCR on headphones got me through a lot of dental root canals....Dentist grooved with it & sang along. Good therapy for both of us.
John played a 1969 Rickenbacker 325 Sunburst guitar on this tune.
I thought I’d drop a note of thanks for being such a great place to come and visit.
I enjoyed the Larry Bird trash talk video and really really enjoyed the Procal Harem video.
Keep up the good work..☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️☘️
Check out their version of Heard it Through the Grapevine. A fun version of a song that has been covered by many bands.
CCR reminds me of every garage band I heard playing in their attics in the 60s.
I knew the horn was going to blow-Berkeley Boys be good!
that guitar lick at 3:48 I'm pretty sure is from Howlin Wolf Smokestack Lighting. I don't mind cultural appropriation if is appreciation and CCR does a hellava good job. This is one of my all time favorite songs. Really dig your channel btw.
This was the short radio version. The long album version has several more minutes of guitar solo.
They were from California P.s They also an extended 8 + minute version with several long solos
Funny that they aren’t southern. They grew up in Berkeley, CA! Swamp Rock!
A top 5 band of all time! Hands down. The number of hits is Ridiculous! Fogerty is a music god.
John's recipe for guitar solos - play everything four times 😅
The intro of Swamp Rock
Can't miss with CCR
Pretty much the only CCR song I liked. I love the Jose Feliciano version.
And this isn’t even one of their better songs. It’s solid, but they’ve got a lot of GREAT songs. It took me a while to really comprehend how good John Fogerty and CCR really are.
You have to listen to their cover of Marvin Gaye's I Heard it Through the Grapvine. Also, you got the short version on this. The whole version includes a cool vocal harmony interlude....and more "nasty" guitar.
JANE'S ADDICTION
Listen to Born on the Bayou. Correction listen to all their songs . My high school music starting in 1969.
Why do reviewers always pick the shortened version? The long (real) version is just a SHORT scroll away.
midnight special
My favorite CCR song. Also, I Put a Spell on you (that’s the name of the song, I didn’t really spell you 😂).
Hey Polo. CCR is one of the greatest bands ever might one of my personal favorites but I have something I want you to check out. I know you're from Cleveland as am I you can see that whenever I post something about what you're listening to I always try to keep a Cleveland reference in it. However I want you to hear and react to a song from the Cleveland band wild horses. The song title is funky poodle. It was only a big hit here in the CLE and surrounding areas. But I think you're viewers would like to hear it it's a great little tune. And I'm saying the smiling cuz I just got done listening to the song so go ahead if you are feeling daring.
CCR doesn't do a bad song. Try Proud Mary, Born On The Bayou, Fortunate Son.
You've now listened to what I've always considered to be CCR's two _best_ songs. All of my other favorites of CCR were on their first 3 albums: *Penthouse Pauper, Ninety-Nine & A Half Won't Do, I Put A Spell On You, Fortunate Son, Green River.* Everything after that became increasingly meh, though many were commercially successful, but to my ears they had lost the crucial blues influence that made their early stuff so appealing...
Please do Sweet Hitch Hikah, uh Hiker. Good, basic stuff.
That HOODOO sound.
Trust me when I say you need to listen to Born on the Bayou next.
Hi mate Vaughan from Australia may I offer a couple of absolute classics from Australia 1 cold chisel (Bow River) 2
Susie Quatro (Devil gate drive)
3 Jesus Christ Superstar Australia cast Cate Cebrano (Everything is all right) on hey hey it's Saturday.
No one hit wonder for sure.
Keep going with CCR.
They are legendary.
I'm so very grateful to have grown up with all of the amazing talent we had in the 60s and 70s.
A BIG FAT YES TO THAT!! : )
Agreed x3
“Born on the bayou” is a must…
👍🏻
Another killer song by CCR is "Fortunate Son."
My favourite.
I'd bet every Vietnam movie ever made, has a CCR track.
Apocalypse Now has this one…
I love how you find great songs by artists that no other reactors are doing, yet they still are great songs and showcase the bands well. Thanks for doing what you do.
when Polo gets the "stank face", you Know it's Good! Keep On Brother!
😄👍👍
And you thought Led Zeppelin was a rabbit hole; John Fogerty is still performing today! 55 years and counting. His catalog is enormous. Lead guitar and Vocals in CCR. Songwriters HOF. Rock & Roll HOF.
It’s hard to go wrong with CCR.
Saw John Fogerty 2 weeks ago. Playing gigs for over 60 years and the man still has it!
lucky you 🤗
So jealous! Where did you see him?
@@maryrosekent8223 in NJ. He is touring with George Thorogood this summer.
@@southjersey7693 Yes! We saw him and George at Tanglewood in Lenox MA about a week ago. Great show
Seeing John was one of the best concerts I ever went to. Wish I could have seen him with CCR.
Fortunate Son!! Great song by CCR
John Fogarty was a California guy. Amazing how he and the band developed such a Southern style of music
Thought it was the Bayou country they were from.
I think he's on a tour. Next stop, Ohio.
@@scottzappa9314
They’re from the East Bay Area.
@@maryrosekent8223 Thank you
Fogerty......
You are just getting started.Dive deeper. You won't be disappointed
This was the shortened version , you will really like the long version with the extra long guitar solo
One of the greatest American bands ❤❤❤❤❤❤❤❤
CCR is AWESOME. Check out "Bad Moon Rising" - that's one of there several All Timers
This is off their first album........and they just keep getting better and better
Amazing!
He has that voice AND plays one of the nastiest guitars in rock & roll history.
Love "Suzy Q" Named my Panhead "Suzie Q" The best........ Creedence was awesome at Woodstock "69" Peace out........
Wow! You have a panhead - ride on, sista!
"I put a spell on you " is your type of jam 🤘
Another banger by them
Polo, Creedence is pretty much universally beloved. No reason to feel odd if you enjoy it!
Born on the Bayou, Lookin out my back door, down on the corner, run through the jungle, proud mary...
This song was in "Apocalypse Now" with Linda Carter dancing in a USO show. That image always pops into my head with this song. Run thru the jungle , fortunate son or Bad moon rising are good followups.
Linda Carter of wonder woman fame
Not sure if you've reacted to their rendition of "Put A Spell On You" but it is absolutely hypnotic. Blows the original out of the water IMHO
Annie Lenox has also recorded _I Put a Spell on You,_ and it’s absolutely spellbinding!
This song came out in 1957 performed by the writer Dale Hawkins. Many have done it but this is one of the best! You should hear their version of Heard It Through the Grapevine.
Proud Mary, Have You Ever Seen the Rain, Who'll Stop the Rain, Lodi. You need to play those
Love Lodi
I remember 54 years ago putting this on Mom and Dad’s stereo and just rocking! Also Green River!
'Keep on Chooglin' LIVE at Woodstock
Then early album song 'Long as I Can See the Light'
You'll Love Both!!
My fav. CCR song, so many parties we would play it around midnight and blow the roof of the house...They use to close their shows with it and it would be bonkers....
Great tune. Throw in Pagan Baby, too!
You just took this 68 year old gramma back to her youth! Thank you! It makes these old bones hurt less after I got up and danced!
Such a late 1960s sound. This song is 56 years old. CCR's music is generally simple but fun. They are never super technical like Rush or Led Zeppelin, it's more the feel of their songs.
One of my favorite fogerty stories i read was about how he paid out of his own pocket to have a bunch of old blues players that died poor or broke headstones put in so friends, family , and fans could go visit the graves of these amazing artists. A true music icon in my eyes.
That change in the vocal quality about halfway through was from Jihn Fogarty singing through a mega-phone. In the early days, a venue might easily have a sound system. To increase volume, the performers would sing through a mega-phone. No electricity is required. 😮
So you probably actually meant to say “…a venue might easily [not] have a sound system.”
@maryrosekent8223 yep. That's what I meant. I was just thinking, the Beatles used a megaphone in part of Windchester Cathedral too.
@@sweisbrod6109Beatles? Not hardly!
My favorite CCR song is Born on the Bayou. Nasty guitar and vocals. The best!
Why isnt it everyones favorite CCR...its damn near my favorite over all
The full track is 8 minutes long. You'd really dig that longer jam. And on the 40th anniversary of their debut album, they included a 10-minute live version of this song that is awesome. If you thought "Born on the Bayou" was a one-off, you're in for a wonderful surprise. CCR has the highest slugging percentage of all time. Nearly every song they did is worthy of a reaction, seriously. Try "Penthouse Pauper" and "Bootleg (Alternate Take)", and "The Working Man", "Porterville", "Gloomy", "Walk on the Water".
Saw CCR at Woodstock. They absolutely killed I Put a Spell on You!
This is a (dare I say) singular and unique band. They always sound like them, but no two songs are the same. I think they will continue to surprise you, Polo.
Try "Who'll Stop the Rain" or "Fortunate Son".
This song is their only hit that John Fogerty didn't write; this was a cover (originally done in 1957). Creedence' did it 11 years later.
They also covered Marvin Gaye song...
Funny thing about CCR being so associated with Southern Rock: they were a bunch of California boys.
Want to have your reality altered: Find their (original) version of Proud Mary. That’s not a Tina and Ike song; that’s a CCR song.
I second that!
Agreed. Funny thing is, I wonder how many people know that the Sacramento River fom Sacramento towards SF Bay is kind of of like the Mississippi Delta and the Louisiana Bayou.
Saw them open for Steppenwolf my first time at the Fillmore, June 1968 and they did this. As a Susie, I've always loved this version. LOVE CCR! ❤
Love it. California swamp music. Please keep going.Gteen River next please
