  • We bring to you short videos by Karuna Sagari on various topics of Bharatanatyam that are authentic, bite-sized and accessible. It may be a valuable resource for Bharatanatyam dancers and educators. This is part of Bhakti Natya Niketan’s Outreach Initiative to promote insightful dance education beyond geography.
    About Karuna Sagari:
    Karuna Sagari is a Classical Bharatanatyam Artist who is currently under the mentorship of Malavika Sarukkai. She is a Kalakshetra Alumna who previously trained under Sheejith Krishna for a decade. She holds a Masters Degree in Tamil from Annamalai University and a Masters Degree in South Asian Studies, Heidelberg University, Germany.
    About the Institute:
    Bhakti Natya Niketan (BNN), founded by Karuna Sagari in 2008 is a Bharatanatyam Institute at Coimbatore. Over 14 years, BNN has trained more than 500 students from over 14 Indian States and 6 countries with over 20 qualified teachers who have worked with the institute.
    Organic Pedagogy:
    With a rich experience of working with students from diverse backgrounds, Founder Karuna Sagari devised an Organic pedagogy where a learner learns Bharatanatyam like how a child learns his/her mother tongue.

    Are these excercises for begginers. I don't use to do excercise and wouldn't like to hurt mi ankles or knee.☹

    Hello, thank you so much for this Akka! I am a 39 year old learning Bharatanatyam and warm and strengthening is so important for me. Would it be possible for you to make available the remaining two ‘s’ -stress and strengthen? Thank you in advance
