I just want this nightmare to end and for this weight to be taken from my shoulders... I might take a look at the easy peasy method because that's somewhat worked before.

When it comes to hope, one thing I think is important and often not mentioned directly is that there aren't two hope states, there are actually three. The third is hidden (indirected) but functionally quite real.
    1) Hope(ful) / open or capable of moving in a particular direction
    2) Hopeless / learned helplessness.
    3) Inverted, negative hope. This looks like hope but has actually replaced the core of hope with the death drive, a person's energies are reallocated and devoted to either rekmaining safe by remaining dead, or towards self destruction of one form or another. This is based around the freedom via death impulse, the attempt to be ended and made anew by annihilation. Death and rebirth.
Number 3 never actually works because the labyrinth itself becomes a form of safety and on the eve of completion or leaving it, becoming apart from the maze of pain and confusion, a person will generally destroy everything they created and then retreat back into the dark. Without being trapped it all loses meaning, so leaving the labyrinth is associated with death. True death. Rather than living death, which is a state of godlike control. There are other layers also, like associating the labyrinth with truth and the outside with false light. Being disempowered and sunk deeper into illusion by leaving, complete loss of control, which is the worst way to be trapped. Most likely trapped "again".
