Sure wish could get that brand O paint the tother side of the pond. I know it works. To experiment with something that "may" work would be useless. Flip side....wow, what a huge "thing". Never really noticed how friggen gawdy it is. Now, I too...cannot stop seeing it. Love your systematic approach and stream of what you do. Stay calm and watch Del do his thing. Thx. Addendum...much better blacked out.
Here's a tip for ya, with any dried bug debris... soak it. Spray some soapy water on, then lay on some kitchen towel, leave it wet for 10mins and they wipe clean off!
Awesome video brother! The guard came out badass, great prep work ! Btw that exhaust sound is music to my ears when you were getting it off the bike lift . Beast of a bike !!! Keep up the great work brother stay safe guys cheers from New York !!!!🎉🎉🎉🎉
Good morning Renzo, great to hear from you as always, thank you for your kind words brother, we're glad you approve! Have a great week both of you, D&Px
Loved the time lapse sequence. Somehow you and Penny can even make "watching paint dry" into a great video. 😁 The rad guard looks great. So much so I might be tempted to put a guard in front of the guard. I know you say it's a daily rider but it sure is looking like a show bike now. Great work Del and Penny !!! Stay well and safe my friends.❤👍👍
Thanks Rick, it is looking rather smart now, just goes to show it doesn't take much aye... enjoy the rest of your week there, keep safe and be well, D&Px
Love the look now, I confess to have not really noticed it all that much before, and then Bam! "Can't unsee it" is exactly right, hahaha. If I even think about painting a thicker wet look coat, I always get severe drips, sags, and horrible runs. You have a real gift for this, man.
Oooh that sounds nice :) Always such good advice on painting and such. It is highly unlikely I'm going to need it for myself, but its easy to imagine that you ensure many others do a great job and will be highly satisfied with the results from advice you give. As ever thanks, great stuff :)
Its way more Bruce Springsteen than Liberace now! Im no fan of " the Boss" but I'd rather be seen in a club with him, if you catch my drift! Happy days ✌️❤️🤗
Yes, it is much better and low-key now. Was surprised that you didn't have a mask on to sand up the chromium. I'm just thinking about you, buddy. All the best, Del and Penny x
Cheers buddy, am always keen on PPE, with the DA Sander it has a vac hose that ffeds through the airline sucing away any residue and, of course, you're sanding bare metal to scratch it up so virtually no residue anyway, maybe just a little debris from the paper itself... thanks for the nudge though, we must all take care of ourselves!
Back from Italy and looking forward to catch up with your latest videos, Del. The radiator guard looks much better in black thanin chrome imho. Cheers from Nürnberg, Günter
Very nice Del, it now blends in perfect with the look of the bike, and good to hear you giving the tip with using the thiners beforehand, there's nothing worse than a finished paint job and it looks like c**p 😢 so it has to be all striped back and redone again, it's all in the pep: great video as always M8 now get it it out on the road and enjoy a ride about for it is a stunning looking bike. So Del/Penny all the very best to you both and stay safe...Don.
Good to hear from you Don, and thanks for your kind words... and even better, it's warm and sunny here now at last, so will enjoy some time out. Enjoy the rest of your week too, and ride safe! D&Px
I quite liked the sanded look, personally. It would have been interesting if you had temporarily mounted it on the bike after sanding and before the paint, if for no other reason than to have photos of polished vs matte vs painted. I do agree that the black makes it disappear a little into the whole and not draw the eye so severely like it did before. It did stick out like a sore thumb polished :)
Really looks nice, Del. Very well done, as usual. The preparation makes all the difference in a paint project, and you always do it so well. Hope you enjoy riding the GSX-R this season; all my best to you!
Nice job Del, you're so right about degreasing, you have to be so careful. I deliver to the trade and have heard horror stories about contaminated spray booths having to be fully cleaned with airlines and filters having to be replaced. The strangest culprit I have heard of is a deodorant for contaminating a booth!
@@Moonfleet41 it can stay in the lines and rear it's head again 3 months later. The guys I know say the hardest part of any job is the prep. You're really thorough and meticulous and it pays dividends in the finished product. I love that I always learn something from your uploads.
Always a pleasure to watch you take your hand to these projects. Very meticulous in your work and your content is really informative. It would really nice to see you do a nut and bolt restoration of a barn find classic alongside these videos.
Great tips, I always learn a lot from your videos, didn’t know about cleaning the metal and I never would have thought to go 50grit first. 👍 Is a spray can paint like that viable for a frame in your opinion Del or would you always go for a powder coat?
On the Sportster project frame i used 2K paint and it came out beautiful, deep gloss and tough.. ive built the whole bike around it now and not a scratch despite brushing tools and fasteners against it from time to time.. so 2K for sure.. but rattle can paint would maybe be a bit soft..!
Short of several acres of wood veneer & being called a 'radiogram', it needs some black speaker cloth, four nylon corner guards & 'Marshall' stenciled on the front . . . oh, & a great big rev-limiter knob that goes all the way up to 'Eleven' - just for the NOx! : )xx
Great video, Penny and Del - just the thing to start the day! That is a really nice transformation from overstated to understated and so well executed from prep to final coat. Looks awesome on that awesome bike. Take care, be well, and ride safe, dear friends.
Hi Kenny, Great to meet you too mate, the MT sounded awesome. What a long old time it's been aye, and good to catch up. and yeah. Maybe see you there next week if you're about, and we could maybe talk about that too.!
I love it... And I didn't know about cleaning off residue before scuffing so thank you for the tip.
Most welcome mate, just passing it forward!

Black! what a total and unexpected shock!!
I like to keep you on your toes .!
it was beter silver..like mirror
Looks better in black, I agree. I hope the bugs come off that satin black finish. I haven't had much luck with that over the years.
Here's a tip for ya, with any dried bug debris... soak it. Spray some soapy water on, then lay on some kitchen towel, leave it wet for 10mins and they wipe clean off!
Now it suits the bike. Nice job.
The improvement to the looks with the rad paint job are ten fold. That exhaust sounds Meaty Beaty Big and Bouncy, you may say "what" but I say "Who".
Much better Del. Definitely the right choice 👌
Fantastic rework of that protector mate - looks so much better now!
Glad you agree mate, looks a lot tidier!

Thanks buddy, lots of practice and along with the right preparation and cnoditions, you can usually make it work!

You're right Del it has toned the guard down. Looks in keeping with the rest of the bike now 👍
Thanks Richard, glad you approve!
Hey Del, thanks looks pretty darn nice. 👍
Nice video Del & Penny. Excellent job mate, looks a lot better in black. Penny and you enjoy the last part of your week , take care. Cheers
Thank you, and you, enjoy the sunshine, we also have some here at last! D&Px
Fantastic finish from a rattle can Del - it's all about the preparation!
Sure is mate, really happy with the finish and the new look!
Love watching you paint very relaxing after a day’s work ! Keep them coming mate 👍🏻
Thanks Ashley, appreciate your kind words mate!
nice work del spot on again

What a great bike, I know you said it’s not a makeover but that bit of TLC has made it a fab bike again - enjoy the summer riding!
Thanks Michael!
Excellent paint job!
Blends in nicely, gotta love that paint 👌🏻 hope PP is doing better.
Thanks Dave for asking, she's had a rough couple of weeks but every day is progress... have a good week mate.

Pleasure to watch as always Del. Great job.
Thanks Shaun, glad you approve mate!
Nice one
I'm really not into naked or Japanese bikes but after all these mods, I wouldn't mind having this one in the garage.
Looks excellent, good choice of colour 😊😊😊😊😊
Thank you mate!
Lovely job Del, looks so much nicer. One great looking muscle bike. 👌
Thank you Peter!
Great Video Black looks great top job Del 💯👏👌👍
Good eye, Del. That’s a nice subtle improvement. I didn’t know about the possibility of sanding in oils on your metal surface, so thanks for that!
🏍👍🏍
Most welcome Gary, just passing it forward, learnt it from Milo many years ago, a wonderful pearl of wisdom...

Sure thing buddy, I think the painter's worst enemy has always been the dreaded silicone... it never seems to go away!

More heat to the engine, good for protection
I wouldn’t recommend radiator guard.
