You cannot say No to your manager in this situation. It all depends on which project you work. Some projects are very cool. You can finish your work in short time and can learn something in your free time. They are support projects where you have to work 24/7....

There should be a sustainable growth in any profession. Increments and privileges should be sufficient to meet the needs, it shouldn't be too high or too low. Once they have paid heavily for few percent of people and indirectly almost everyone got huge Car loans and house loans. Due to IT sector, there was a huge impact on economy and affected life of other people also. I was with HCL TECHNOLOGIES in my earlier career for first 4 years, then I myself resigned and became a self employed. We should let a peaceful life. I planned myself to be away from being luxury, mental pressure, improper work life balance. Things will look normal in IT sector, but it affects indirectly in our life. Both IT companies and the employees should plan accordingly, for sustainable growth all through our career and life. There should be no layoffs.

Org restructuring or needs funding or acquisition In today's competitive world all companies follow short term goals. The attrition rate is tracked every year. The layoff is not new, it been there for a long time. When employees accept the offer he is bound to the terms and condition of the organization which he signs. Nothing to blame off CTS. On an average people get 8-20% hike year on year. A fresher gets 20K to 30K minimum, on the contrast, for example, a sub-editor (non IT) gets the same salary after 10 years. In my exp, I have seen HR fired. People don't speak when an IT employee gets a high salary of 50-1lakh per month? the same goes for JetAirways. Its pyramid structure, be aware of the risks when you join an organization.

I am sorry for all these workers loss, it is not only affecting them but their families too, if the companies plan to terminate at least they should give them 3 to 6 month notice so they can plan to forsee their job loss. Imagine if there was a new born baby or newly married, what would they think in the family, its because of this child or spouse i lost job and unlucky. But unfortunately no one can take these companies as they move out to another country like Philippines or remote workforce. The sad reality is IT is not for every one most of these folk are in project support, writing test cases or just a head count to bill the client.

You cannot say No to your manager in this situation. It all depends on which project you work. Some projects are very cool. You can finish your work in short time and can learn something in your free time. They are support projects where you have to work 24/7....

Media is more concerned about IT industry.. but speak also about Automobile industry.. atleast IT employee in 10 years will earn in Lakhs and would have saved a bit. But it’s not the same case in Automobile. People are struggling more in Automobile industry.

I am sorry for all these workers loss, it is not only affecting them but their families too, if the companies plan to terminate at least they should give them 3 to 6 month notice so they can plan to forsee their job loss. Imagine if there was a new born baby or newly married, what would they think in the family, its because of this child or spouse i lost job and unlucky. But unfortunately no one can take these companies as they move out to another country like Philippines or remote workforce. The sad reality is IT is not for every one most of these folk are in project support, writing test cases or just a head count to bill the client.

IN that 13000 people how many are really genuine people, i know of many managers who just play dummy role and live of the hard work of contributing employees, Lot of Mid level managers are completely political people who do nothing better than boot licking. Boot licking will take us only so much, what value do these guys bring in as being 8 to 10 years experience, some of them have complete disrespect for co-workers, they come up with all cheating schemes like unrealistic deadlines, putting the other employee in night shift whereas these guys come in Morning Shift. Karma is a bitch for these useless category of Mid- Level.
But if the individual is a Genuine individual then it is worry some. But how many are going to hide under this genuine guise and how many are genuine is the question.
