Thx Streaky! Got to check them out. I sold my NS-10 about 5 years ago and miss them every day. Mixing is all about the midrange, so those might be just what I need as a 3rd pair.
Hey Streaky.. just want to say thanks for all of your videos they are super informative and think your doing a great service to the audio community! Just wondering if you have an opinion on Dynaudio monitors? Haven't found any reviews on you page.. been using the bm5 mkII's for years now and have been finding my mixes are not translating so well. Recently aquired a pair of Neumann KH120's and something that has immediately stuck out to me is the Neumann's are much more revealing in the mids and less hyped in the low and high freqs.. just wondering if you had an opinion on the Dynaudio sound? I find when listening to music I gravitate towards them as they sound "nicer" but when mixing my tracks there seem to be consistent problems
Great video……You have a 3 year old video about your favorite pucks for your monitor speakers, do you still recommend them or do you have a different favorite now? Thank you.
Very nice video! Liked and subscribed. A little correction on the price: Everywhere I’ve looked, these are $799 a pair and the CLA-10a’s are $999 for a pair. The higher price tag of the CLA-10a’s makes me think they are superior to these.. So I’m genuinely curious: What about these do you like better than the CLA-10s? (I currently have the CLA-10s in my Sweetwater shopping cart, so I am very curious and open to your advice before I make my purchase.) My monitor setup is: Reftone LDB3s (basically like mix cubes, 4” speaker), Either the CLA-10s or these, depending on which ones I get, And Yamaha HS8s. So, do you think I should get these as my mid-sized speakers in the room or the CLA-10s? (I gotta say, I like the visual look of these better, which matters to me a little bit too.) Advice appreciated! Thanks
I thought the speakers were supposed to be aimed at a spot just behind your head so that your head is just on the inside of the triangle as opposed to being the very point of it. In that case you would see just a slight piece of the inside edge of each speaker. I have no idea if this is 100% correct but that's how I've been setting up
The specs on the other Avantone NS10 copy you refer to say frequency response starts at 60hz. These say 40hz. do you hear a difference in the bass between the two? i think the NS10 copies lacked too much bass but i was hoping these had more because of the spec sheet.
Vertical placement also important esp in low ceilings. If mons are equidistant between floor and ceiling then are susceptible to phase. An often overlooked fact!
Should I buy These or Can I Go with Kali Audio in(5 or 8) as these come in a similar price range . Please tell me an answer I wanted to buy a Pair of studio monitors and im so confused . Please tell the answers ASAP..
Streaky I just saw the hardware version (the original)of the Weiss MK3 on your rack.... Please do a comparison with the software because that plugin lives on my MIX Bus😂Thanks Mate
Hi dude, I want to ask something about this Gauss 7 speaker , is this normal? when I turn on the samson power strip the speaker gauss 7 makes a sound “Dug” or “popping sound” ???
Hello masta!! could you make a video talking about monitor amplifiers and the ones that in your opinion are the best? I recently bought a pair of NS10 and I am a bit lost
the specs stating that these go down to 30 Hz is kinda fishy :) or at what slope does it reach 30Hz... what was your impression? in comparison the Barefoot MicroMain27 states 30 (+- 3 dB)
I have a couple of Adam audio speakers, any thought about those speakers? if theyr good for mixing? im sitting in a shitty room so im relying mostly on my headphones... Haha, but planing to move:) and get a proper room and proper speakers, any recommendation?
Very room size and budget dependent...kii three if you have the budget...but 3 way always good with some acoustic treatment and room correction software 🤦🏻♂️
is it very wrong if my head if 20cm too high ? i mean, compparated to what you said, regarding the speaker high. i would like the speaker resting on the desk, and having the monitor on top of the speaker.
so i think i'm gonna mount the screen below the speaker, but, because the speaker will need to be mounted horizontally, i need a 40x20cm stand. unfortunately i cannot found a 40cm stand, it's about 23 to 25cm, meanin 7.5cm each side will be over the stand, even if the stand supports 15 or 20 kg.
Who makes the pucks? On my speaker stand there’s some thin foam strips to try to decouple but I don’t completely trust it. Thought about Auralex Mopads but the pucks look more elegant IMO
Hi, thanks , between this gauss 7 or Adam t7v, for edm mix and master ? Room treatment already, now have monkey banana turbo 5. Use to have jbl 308 mkii
The main thing that makes those speakers sound so good is the Tweeter. It is a ribbon style Tweeter and not a magnetic speaker style tweeter. You can find this on the Adams monitors as well.
I prefer the ribbon speakers. I have only used them at other studios. I have been using my monitors for so long I am very hesitant to replace them. My brain and ears are trained to their abilities. I will get new ones eventually. Cheers!
Metal ribbon, AMT, etc. types of tweeters. They are good on your ears for long duration listening sessions. Smooth as buttermilk. They are very easy to damage, which is why all monitors using these types of tweeters have the tweeter membrane protected with a grille/screen.
It's not a ribbon; it's a pleated "squeeze" tweeter derived from the old Heil air motion transformer. Very low distortion is possible, but not all achieve it, and they tend to have low frequency extension issues for their size and cost.
Good bye jbl 305 say hello to Gauss right next to my A7x's...i was going to get some iloud mtms but these I may wait outstanding Avantone great job A+ for 2.5 ribbon tweeter on a ns-10 woofer ...genius
Well you didn't go in depth that much, but your share the essence effectively and therefore your reviews are unflawed in the absolute sense..! Thanks streaky! Will you do a review of the kali LP6? I think initiuvely that they outperform the avontonte gauss (especially in the mids and low end) for 300 dollars/euros. I have them! It's good if you tested them so to recomend them over krk's and Yamaha HS and jbl of that price. Cause well, these are so good for the price! Good to spread awareness! Have a nice day man :D
Could you set up these speakers with your set of NS10's and an Earthworks mic or DPA mic equidistant from each cone, center on(or also try it at your listening position/sweet spot), and do a back to back comparisons at the same levels? Start at say 75db, then 80db, 85, 90 etc? That would be nice instead of trying to tell us how they sound. You might be saying, well just go out and try them. Well 99% of us cannot do that due to money constraits! I live in Chicago and there isn't a single company that would let me take home a pair of these speakers to try them out without paying for them, or depositing a lot of money. So that's just NOT possible! You have to buy them to try them, which is a non starter because who the fuck want's to do that? No ONE! We try to do our research and save up enough cash to get the best monitors we can, but many times we go on what our idols are using that's in our price range. And that just sucks, because everyone's room is different, and what they used 20 or 30yrs ago they where just trying to get by. I've seen tons of home studios in Chicagoland, and 90% of them have those KRK yellow speakers in them! Hell they where my first pair as well. But they sucked for me. I did better on NS10's which where my 2nd set of monitors. My 3rd set where the Focal Shape 65's, but those are too flattering for me. Of course if money were not an issue I'd get a pair of Barefoots or ATC's.....but it is....very much so. It would be nice if people quit saying, well you just have to go out and try speakers for yourself! That does not help at all and is more part of the problem and not the answer!
Thanks Streaky for the set up, monitoring on these now and
I love em.
Thx Streaky! Got to check them out. I sold my NS-10 about 5 years ago and miss them every day. Mixing is all about the midrange, so those might be just what I need as a 3rd pair.

Nice tutorial 🙌🏾
Good job mate. That's a good lad.

hi,great monitor and review, can i place it horizontally ?? any advice ??please
hey Streaky, it would be nice to see you mastering a track from scratch to finish using only Fabfilter.

Could you review PreSonus Sceptre S8s? GS reviews are pretty favoring, but not many video reviews like yours.
Thanks
two pucks dad joke ... gets you a thumbs up lol
🙏✌🏼
Placing speakers near the wall is important to avoid sbir. The dip switch at the rear of the speaker is there to avoid excessive bass.
What is sbir?

Are they as fast & hard as CLA 10s as they are not a closed cabinet?
Oh, oh, what about the reflections off of your cap? ;) Great info as always! Thank you Steaky!
My ears are so active up to 30k the cap is working as a high cut at 15k to balance my hearing 👍😂😂
Lol nice

Thanks for the review! How would they compare to something like Neumann KH80s?
Love the neumanns but differecult to compare speakers are very room dependent
