So, it's about 6 months later.... How's it look? Still sticking? Has it cleaned up nicely after getting smeared with fish guts? Love the angle jig, hole jig, and 3/8" guides. Great advice there!
It's holding up great. No lifting and it is still clean. I keep it covered when not in use so the weather is not directly impacting it.

Great job on the layout and using jigs. Very smart! Were you happy with the 22 degree beveled edge? If you had to do it again, would you have made that angle bigger?
Also, a lot of people use spray adhesive. Have you noticed any corners peeling?
Thanks. I am happy with the bevel I think its a good balance of look and rigidity. I also think if the angle were more extreme I would of had to make my marks for the pattern different (smaller) so the mat would still fit in the area I wanted

Nice work! How’s the mat holding up? I’m thinking of doing the same so my dog can have something to grip to when she rides with me
The mat is holding strong, but I do keep them covered so the Sun does not effect it.
Is the surface completely smooth or is there a bit of a textured finish on your kayak. I got this same mat and am worried that it won’t stick because my kayak has a very slight texture :(
There is a tiny bit of texture. The mat is still holding strong and in great shape.

Right about 2 hours but if I were to do one again I could cut that down to 1.5hrs or less
I thought you were going to use cardboard
I only make complete kayaks out of carboard
