The announcers are Gene Johnson and Bob Betts. Johnson did the graveyard shift at WOKY in Milwaukee, and He and Betts did voice for radio ads. A greta pair of radio guys!
Around '73 one of these very ads kept screaming about Cha Cha and all my other heroes coming to Union Grove. I couldn't take it. No would drive me so I skipped school and pedaled my teen ass on a beat up 20 incher 26 grueling miles from West Allis to the Dragaway. Cars on the remote rural roads kept asking what the actual fuck I was doing and if I was ok 😂 The poor bike disintegrated halfway back and VERY hot water awaited me at home. But goddamn it was worth the price to watch and talk to my idols ✨ Fuzzy memories suggest I might've even copped a hug from Shirley 🥰that fine day. Or maybe I dreamt it?
Holy hell the flood of memories and the way this rocketed me back to my Milwaukee juvenile hooligan days just gave me fn vertigo. I may puke 🤢 Then melancholy sets in, counting the impossible number of *_decades_* that have flashed by. How the fuck 🥺 Pro Tip: _do not_ do the math old-timers, just trust me
Having grown up about 40 miles from UG, I heard these spots all the time. A blast from the past! TNX for the post.
Wow, seeing/hearing this ad brings my back to my childhood.

Betts was the PA announcer for many years at Milwaukee County Stadium
A blast from the past from my "yoout". Grew up in the mid-west and those radio ads always spelled "summer fun".
Made it to Great Lakes dragaway three times in the summer of '75, when I was stationed at Great Lakes naval base while going to "A" school.
