The last time I raced there was Friday night Memorial Weekend 1965. 57 Chevy E/Gas. Went into the Air Force soon after. Loved that place, night drags are the best. Lived in the Chicago suburbs at the time. We would go to Lake Geneva to look for "Wisconsin chicks" after the races. I live in Wisconsin now and married one of those "Wisconsin chicks."

I waas a seventh grader when this was goin on, two of my older bros were gear heads, had awesome cars, and took me to drag races .....Thank you for posting,/sharing with us...love this so very much....in our town on fri, & sat nites, us kids would collect at a stop sign on the main south bound street. all the gear heads would profile thru our city , hoping to meet some one at that stop sign to race....it was short, but exhilarating ...we saw all kind of cars shelby gt 350,mustang (Bob Riggs) camaro's,corvettes, chargers, gto's, etc etc .

I'm 78 yrs old now but Great Lakes drag strip was where I would race. Got caught up in the Vietnam war in 1968 where I served with US Army 4th infantry division I had a 1963 corvette 327 cubic inch 340 hp from the factory with added headers and 4:11 gears that I had stashed in my grand mothers garage not far from Great Lake Drag Strip. Got home from my two years in the Army and no body was racing. I did a lot of street racing back then and that was no longer going on. I left the corvette set while I got caught up in the Love/Peace/ and Rock n Role that was the thing to do. Thankfully I met a great gal that kind of took me away from that lifestyle. We have been together for 47 yrs and I still have the 63 vette roadster with a nice LS1 engine with a 4l60 trans.
