I love your technique of using one face mold for both the masculine and feminine dolls. Just slight tweaks in the face paint makes them look so different.
All my life I've only had two dolls as they didn't catch my eye. One was a gift that I accepted out of emotional attachment as a little girl, and the other is one I recently bought for myself during a family trip. The irony of not wanting dolls my whole life and becoming enamored with these beautiful pieces of art and not having the funds of buying them. Maybe someday, I will be able to purchase some, for now I'll just worship your hands for creating such beautiful dolls ❤❤ They are worth every penny, and I'd argue you deserve more for taking such care in every detail.
I would love to see you recreate some of your doll outfits for human wear! Something about matching with your doll always makes my heart happy so when I can I try this with my own and my dolls wardrobe.
Sofie, your skill and attention to detail is just extraordinary, truly. Yes love these dolls, they're perfectly crafted down to the shoes. Incredible work. And yes... make that dress for yourself too. I think it will be amazing.
This duo has very beautiful eyes. Doing everything by hand must take a lot of time. I really admire the artists who do this while so many others have machines to help themselves.
День добрый ! Получила огромное удовольствие от просмотра роликов где Вы показываете изготовление кукол . Невероятное мастерство и красота ! Вы волшебница !! Куклы как живые ! Удачи Вам !!
I would like to know how many hours of work are put into one of those dolls. It must take forever to with all the details and effort, truly impressive.
your work and skills are simply amazing. Beautiful and mesmerizing to watch. And please create dress for yourself - I would love to see similar one you make for your dolls on you. ❤
Wonderful! I love this art, but I suffer watching these videos, because I wouldn't know how to create and it wouldn't be possible for me to own these little gems!
They are both exquisite.I think the porcelain looks more realistic than the silicon. .Porcelain has a natural glow just as the skin does, and even when you add the colour to it,the glow is still there.I can just imagine how beautiful these dolls feel to actually handle.I think the subtle differences you made to the faces did change their look. They do look like siblings though .lol!..but I believe that was your intention.I love the colour you chose to do the beautiful dress and the shirt,it certainly compliments them.I love the dress,I would wear that too, even at my age lol!.You are a very talented young lady, and the dolls you make are so beautifully sculpted and moulded. You take time and it shows .You will go a long way I am sure.I look forward to your next masterpiece .Until then I wish you a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year.As I know it takes a lot of time to create each on 🥰
Your dolls look sooo pretty:) Very vell done :) I love bjd dolls and I wanted to make one for years, but for me the symmetric of the face was all the time a problem I could not handle. Thank you for shairing your process maybe I will try it again:)
Love your dolls so much, Sofie! Still waiting to be able to afford a doll from you. We spoke a few times via mail previously about a doll order. Also, you should hold online classes with an in depth process on how you make these dolls, and how to have a successful doll-making business. I know you posted another video about it here recently, but would love to be able to see all the small steps in greater depth. Would love to see that, as an aspiring dollmaker myself! Take care and please keep creating! xx
Hello, I'm happy to hear from you again! Thank you so much for your kind words. I am thinking about holding an online class or making a course, this might be one of my 2024 projects!
I would love to take a class from you, especially one that covers the mold-making and slip casting process in more detail. I have struggled to get a porcelain mix that doesn’t settle at the bottom of the mold and create a thicker area. I’ll keep watching to see if you offer a class. I’d definitely sign up.
miss sophie, would it be possible for you to make a pair for your duality line that has vitiligo? i absolutely adore your work and i cannot wait until someday i have enough money to buy all four of your dolls in this series!
Thank you! That's a great idea, but I am not sure how to bring it to life from a technical point. If I figure this out, I would definitively make dolls with vitiligo.
Wow! Congratulations! What a beautiful dolls…so serene looking and poignant…lovely…😘 I can only wish and dream to own your dolls…(surely I cannot afford them)😌☺️…greetings from the Philippines 🇵🇭
Очень красиво 🥰. Спасибо за ролик закулисия), мне очень интересно смотреть на то как всё делается! А можете показать и написать, какие вы используете материалы и краски для работ. Спасибо) 🤗☺
Aw, I wish you'd shared the characters for their names! The wonderful thing about Chinese names, is that the characters making up those names, can vary and have various meanings, and thus two people called Xiu and Xuan could meet other people, also named Xiu and Xuan whose names have different meanings! I personally like 庥 xiū - shade; shelter, protection - as it fits with the girl's quiet vibe. For the boy, how about 暶 xuán - which has apparently been used in literature to mean bright, beautiful and good-looking? I like the idea of the girl having a more "masculine" name meaning, while the boy has a more "feminine" name meaning, as their faces are so androgynous, if that makes sense! Also, if they were siblings, they'd have a shared family name. For this, I feel that 霞 xía - rosy clouds - would be sweet! Xía Xiū, and her brother, Xía Xuán! I hope to see more beautiful work from you, and I hope you don't mind my amateur input. I have been trying to learn mandarin for a while now, and couldn't help but feel inspired!
Thank you for your thoughtful comment! I meant Xiu as 秀 and Xuan as 軒. From what I learned, these options seem to be somewhat basic, but I was scared of accidentally naming them something completely out of place, so I went for safe yet nice options. I love your suggestions even better, and the androgynous aspect - that is very fitting! And the family name you suggested is beautiful and poetic. I am excited to learn more about Chinese names. Thank you for taking time to educate me on this topic!
Gorgeous! Love watching true craftsmanship in action. I did notice every time there is a voice over, a crackle and deep humming also kick in which was slightly distracting. Might only be audible to a headphone user though
Out of curiosity, do you notice any discoloration or issues with using hot glue for the wig caps? I’m always a little afraid of using that because I don’t want them to loosen in hot weather or discolor or anything like that.
Hi! No, I have never noticed any problems with hot glue. It is not so hot that it will discolor or damage the hair (as long as you are using natural fiber) and it does not melt easily. My wigs can even be blow dried as long as you do not use the highest setting. In fact, in my experience, wigs made with hot glue are incredibly durable, much more durable than wigs made with regular glue.
Do you think, Sophie, that sculpting and making dolls is simple or difficult? Because I want to make my own doll, but I think I will fail by making it Also, I love you
Hi! I would say doll making is one of the more difficult crafts, especially making a BJD. It requires a lot of skills and takes a long time. But it also could be fun and exciting, especially if you create a doll just for yourself.
As a 2000s kid I much prefer the "accidental 2000s hairstyle" over anything that's trendy nowadays. Besides, trends tend to be short-lived and they come in and out anyway, so there's no point in trying to make something trendy when it's going to be out of style later.🤷♀️
I really like those dolls I respect you for your craftsmanship and I am eagerly waiting for more delicate work from you . One request i want to see more skin colour verification . DISCLAIMER I don't want to be a racist if my comment disturb u please ignore it
Yes, they are fired. First a low temperature, bisque firing prior to the final sanding & polishing. Then a high temperature firing to vitrify the ceramic into porcelain. She also does several firings in between layers of china paint. That means the painting process takes weeks to complete.
Hi! The dolls are fired multiple times. You can see me put them in the kiln at 05:40 and 06:26. Also, each layer of china paint is fired at about 800C.
Hi there please I just want to take a few minutes of your time. Have you ever wondered about who God is?. He is the Lion of Judah, The beginning and the end, He is an omnipresent God, omniscience and omnipotent. He is the same yesterday, today and forever. He is the I AM that I AM, the everlasting father and more. He said to tell you that he loves you and has sent his son to die for you on the cross. He is calling you and waiting for you to come. Please don't reject his call. Thank you for your time and God bless you.
Hi! Some steps would be the same. You still need to sculpt the model, make the molds, cast the doll and sand it. However, working with silicone and resin is different from plaster and porcelain, and you need different equipment.
I gotta say my favorite part is the hands, wow. they are incredible! Even the little cuticles?! the tiny imperfections in the skin are adorable too.❤
