Thank you so much for your tutorial. I too left my L1800 without printing for some time and here is the fun part. I took my L1800 out the box, loaded the ink and had to leave it alone because I got sick and had to be hospitalized. I really thought I had a very large and heavy paper weight, but your video gave me hope. I purchased brand new dampers and tubing and made sure the ink bottles are flowing; wish me luck. I will keep you posted. Thanks again for your help.

Great video but this Ultra Sonic Machine ruined my basically brand new Print Head. I ran it twice at 180 seconds. After I was done, when I pump cleaning solution through nozzle 1, it comes up out of nozzle 3 and so fourth. I think the heat melted the diaphragms or loosened all the seals inside the print head. I recommend no longer than 90 seconds and let it cool before running it a second time.

The streaking you had after cleaning might be ink build up on the underside of your carriage. I have had success cleaning that by the following method. With the printhead removed, place some paper towels on the bed of the printer. Then put a little cleaning solution on the paper towel. Next move the carriage back and forth over the paper towel. Repeat this process until the underside of the carriage is clean.

Hello and thanks for the detailed video, question though I've seen another video where the printhead is cleaned but the guy strongly recommends not putting the printhead in the machine you used because according to him it can damage the gaskets in it. He recommends separating the nozzles from the printhead and putting only the nozzle in the cleaning machine as he said most times the clog is in their. What are your thoughts on that

I tried this. It destroyed the seal on my print head. It started bubbling up and I thought “yay! It’s working!” Then it started bubbling other colors through each nozzle. So it wasn’t me flushing too hard. That was literally a brand new printhead less than 12 hours in the machine. I took all the precautions to make sure the lines were clean, bottles were clean, new damper…head cleaning and wet cap at the end of the day. It shouldn’t have been clogged but after hours of soaking one white nozzle was totally blocked so I decided to try this and bam. $300 mistake.

Same here, After I was done, When I pump cleaning solution through nozzle 1, it comes up out of nozzle 3 and so fourth. I think the heat melted the diaphragms or loosened all the seals inside the print head. I recommend no longer than 90 seconds and let it cool before running it a second time.

Ouch I am debating what to do going onto maybe a 3rd head. My new "Refurbished" is giving me a terrible nozzle check prints are no white so frustrating and waste of my hard earned money.

Do not clean the head nozzles in an ultrasonic bath!
Ultrasound destroys the seal of the head.
The ultrasonic bath was invented precisely to separate dissimilar media and therefore the sealant will be separated from plastic and metal

Sorry but ultrasonic bath is not the way to do it, because there is very high possibility that you gonna end up with broken seal. When that happens the head is useless.

🤷🏽‍♀️ that's a matter of opinion when you're desperate. It has worked very well for me and a few hundred others. Is there a risk? Yes! And I clearly state that.

Thus far... it hasn't. But I definitely put in the description that destruction IS a possibility.

Hi , further research says that it is more detrimental to the Epson dx4/ dx5 /dx7 heads because the foil head is a lot thinner on those so maybe the cheaper models will be ok just be careful nonetheless 😉
