Wow I did not expect the series where Ash actually wins a league to have this many losses. Seriously this was brutal. But considering all the 1v1s and 2v2s and Nanu and Hapu yeah this was kind of a wash. Anyways good try and I can't wait to see what you do for Sword.

Ash's think on the fly, almost unpredictable usage of his different teams of Pokemon (some not even evolved) and their move (some of which are bad) kind of just doesn't really fit in the games. I mean, in this region alone Ash countered a Counter, used Feather Dance as a makeshift "get out of jail free" card, bit a piece of a Stone Edge for an attack, caught a BLAST BURN with Torracat and use it as energy and just Pikachu's Electoweb in general as move. And that's mostly just the league. What he does is admirable but also kind of impossible sometimes for challenge. ETU was bound to hit a roadblock at some point.
Despite all the headaches this challenge undoubtedly caused for you, I appreciate your effort to stay faithful to the anime. Thanks for your hard work and keep plenty of Tylenol on hand.

Pokémon was never meant to be super serious, and the art should compliment that. Honestly I see why you had so much trouble with this one lol. The Sun & Moon anime is the most different from the games, not only in terms of how the events play out but also on the overall tone. The game is just your typical Pokemon action adventure story, while the anime made a slice of life comedy with some action elements thrown in, that's why fights usually get interrupted or don't seem to matter that much. I find it funny that this was the region in which Ash actually won the league, when his team wasn't really competitive like the ones in Sinnoh or Kalos, they were just Pokemon he befriended along the way, the ones he liked the most you could say. I think that was the message of the season, that you can win at the games just playing with your favorites.

That was a rather good way to get around the Melmetal issue, and a damn good attempt. But, man, just goes to show how odd Ash's combat style in the Anime is and how it cannot be copied in the games really.
He’s a very unorthodox trainer and it’s hard to read him. That’s why gladion was a good rival. Instead of trying to oppose ash’s style he took pieces of ash’s style to add to his own and read ash probably better then any rival he had.

What I know is that Ash's strategy is rubbish, how can he win if it is theoretically impossible using those attacks and having an unevolved Pokémon, that is impossible.
Honestly, this makes me want to see a game mode in a mainline Pokemon game where you can imitate Ash's weird strategy. Like thunder armor or how Melmetal took out an Empoleon with just steel-type moves. Edit: I just realized this would just be a regular Pokemon game with more plot armor for the player.
I love that Necrozma, what's usually considered one of if not the hardest fight in-game, went down fairly easily and then the kahunas were what wiped you. Anime teams sure are something

Agreed. I think its the best Pokemon anime by far. The slice of life setting and art style fits Alola, and even though its goofy, it can be serious when it needs to be and has a lot of great battles. It's good stuff.

I've neither watched the Sun and Moon anime nor played the Ultra games, so this was already a unique viewing for me, and then further made unique with your inclusion of totem battles, legendary fights and such that happened in the anime. An boy, I expected this to be a tough one for you to go through but this went way beyond those expectations for how gruelling it seemed.
I know that these can probably be incredibly taxing to create, but I want you to know these are wonderful, wonderful videos, I love watching them and I want you to know how good of a job you do with all these
Pikachu didn't reset in SM, it take 100 Episodes for pikachu to lose a battle and it was against Mythical, he even beat a UBs Nihilego in less than half series.

Yeah, I knew this one would be a disaster. Ultra Sun and Ultra Moon are surprisingly tricky in places, and even by his usual standards, Ash had to pull a LOT of tricks that just don't translate into the games. And let's be honest, Ultra Necrozma was only doable because you had to break the rule of using anime accurate moves to get Black Hole Eclipse. I have absolutely NO idea what you could be thinking of for Sword version, seeing as the only battles from it that Ash did were Bea (even if not as a proper Gym battle), Oleana, Rose, and Eternatus. All of those would be pretty easy to win, though, given some type advantages tipping the scales in your favor and Eternatus being almost impossible to lose against.
Hapu was so hard for me it took days of luck and frustration, and by that I mean 2 hours of fighting, 10 minutes of crying, a lucky win, screaming, happiness
As someone playing Ultra Moon while only using Metronome I know the difficulty of generation 7. It's a surprisingly difficult game when limiting yourself to an insane level.
It sounds like the difficulty was more with the structure of the anime than the game. It seems Ash repeatedly used as little Pokemon as possible in the challenges he was given. It removes the ability for some Pokemon to pick up the slack.
Ok besides the gameplay i still cant believe Ash's face in alola was so messed up and it still creeps me out even to this day . With that out of the way cool video though.
for future reference, you can actually have all of ash’s moves and have his pokemon be your OT! so for example if you wanted pikachu with thunderbolt/quick attack/iron tail/electro ball, you can just breed two pikachus with those moves on your completed save, and the baby will inherit all four of those attacks. if you then trade it to your ash save file without hatching it, the hatched pokemon will have your OT and obey :)
I think it's fair to use shift battle mode if Ash fights a double battle in the anime while you're force to fight a single battle. It essentially emulates him tagging his 2 pokemon in and out on the battlefield

I honestly have no idea how I beat Ultra Necrozma the first time I fought it. I was maybe 3 levels over and somehow got it on my first try. Went through a second time and got rekt even though I was 10 over and had a pretty decent team to fight Necrozma.
It'll definitely be impossible to beat Sword and Shield. Seriously, why did they have to skip straight to Rose and Eternatus instead of remaining consistent and having Ash earn the gym badges
Be honest, Pokémon isnt gonna end anytime soon. If six generations from now, it still used the same “Gym battle, evil team ark, gym battle, lose the league” formula, would you still watch it? After a while they have to experiment
I think that at a slightly higher level a Dusk Lycanroc holding a Sitrus Berry (recall that Dusk Lycanroc eats one during the battle) could probably take down Nanu. If you had asked around, you could probably have found someone who could have traded you an Own Tempo Rockruff--I myself bred a bunch of them after receiving one through the event back at the start of USUM.
Is an Own Tempo Rockruff really all that uncommon? I still have the one i got from the event way back when and his many many genetically superior children...
Hey, Unown. I know I'm late, but you could've Bred the Lycanroc you got in the nuzlocke and traded the egg over. You can breed Dusk Form Lycanroc to get more Own Tempo Rockruff, if I remember right.
I find it ironic how the most difficult game for these challenges is the only region that Ash has actually won.

I think it's fair to use shift battle mode if Ash fights a double battle in the anime while you're force to fight a single battle. It essentially emulates him tagging his 2 pokemon in and out on the battlefield

I with my fully evolved team struggled with this game, I can only imagine how much FJ struggled to record this lol
If you hatch the Pokémon in the save file you’re playing in, you can trade it to you main file to get all the moves you need
I have never heard FJ so frustrated omg. I mean I solely watch challenges like these for the filling enjoyment of human pain, but FJ's pain physically hurts me. I guess his ability is Liquid Ooze.

I really need Pokémon Omega Ruby, Alpha Sapphire, Ultra Sun, and Ultra Moon so I can use all of the same Pokémon that Ash Ketchum used for every single Pokémon battles.
I honestly have no idea how I beat Ultra Necrozma the first time I fought it. I was maybe 3 levels over and somehow got it on my first try. Went through a second time and got rekt even though I was 10 over and had a pretty decent team to fight Necrozma.

Yeah with the decline in quality of the later Pokemon anime it's hard to do something like this but it was good and I can't wait to see what's next
Try going back and watching the early seasons and you’ll realize it’s just nostalgia, the quality has been getting much better.

Be honest, Pokémon isnt gonna end anytime soon. If six generations from now, it still used the same “Gym battle, evil team ark, gym battle, lose the league” formula, would you still watch it? After a while they have to experiment
I think that at a slightly higher level a Dusk Lycanroc holding a Sitrus Berry (recall that Dusk Lycanroc eats one during the battle) could probably take down Nanu. If you had asked around, you could probably have found someone who could have traded you an Own Tempo Rockruff--I myself bred a bunch of them after receiving one through the event back at the start of USUM.
In Kalos, everyone was buffed from their game counterparts.... in Alola, everyone was nerfed from their game counterparts. HARD.

Hey, Unown. I know I'm late, but you could've Bred the Lycanroc you got in the nuzlocke and traded the egg over. You can breed Dusk Form Lycanroc to get more Own Tempo Rockruff, if I remember right.
