Okay, first of all, I'd just like to thank anyone who has watched this. The support on this video has been amazing. There are way too many comments to reply to individually so let me just answer some of the most common: "Are you going to do this for other generations?" Yes! A video for Johto is in the works. Hopefully it shouldn't take too long (but the levels are harder to gauge and I just decided to start from scratch with any Kanto Pokémon rather than go through the whole game with a Level 80 Pikachu or something). "How did you get Pikachu as your starter in Fire Red? How did you get '_____' in Fire Red?" I used the Universal Pokémon Randomizer to get Pikachu as my starter and all of the other wild Pokémon that seem out of place were there because I edited the wild Pokémon before starting with Advance Map. "You can battle Sabrina before Erika!" I know. I'm dumb. "You should've used Seismic Toss on Charizard!" I should have. I somehow was entirely unaware that the Seismic Toss move tutor existed until this video came out. My bad. "You should've traded Charizard so it wouldn't obey you!" This is an excellent idea and if I had any idea how to set that up, I absolutely would have! "Omanyte Shyamalan is an amazing nickname!" Only like two people have commented about this and I'm pretty sure neither of them called it amazing but I'd like to thank them nonetheless. "Do you even remember what the other common questions on this video were at this point?" Nope. Literally no idea. If you have a question that I didn't answer though, you can just message me on twitter.com/EnterTheUnown and I should reply before too long! EDIT - Forgot about this one! "Are you South African/Stop trying to sound American/What's your accent?" I spent time between England and Ireland growing up so my accent is a weird mix of both. I'm Irish. I'm definitely not trying to sound American but somebody said that and I'm a bit confused about it, honestly. Thank you again if you read down to the bottom! I'm gonna keep working hard and trying to make interesting content that people can enjoy!

I think for the Charizard you can edit one of the trades in game to make it be what you want. I see it in crystal randomizers all the time, so I figure you'd find it useful
One of my favorite articles about Pokemon that I can't find anymore was about the process of preparing a competitive pokemon team and how horrifying it is from the in-universe perspective. It's a process in which you inbreed pokemon until they have the perfect stats, releasing many an inbred infant into the wild in the process. Then, you train them to level 100 fighting the same pokemon over and over to train their EVs. It's a brutal and statistics-based sequence of events that runs closer to dogfighting than the power of friendship. The fact that the anime has never really drawn on the fact that the game's stat system simply doesn't reward sentimentality for a villain still disappoints me greatly.
NoEsUnRUclipsr oh my god, that would make for a great and horrific villain in the anime. A psychopathic master trainer who treats his Pokemon like tools, but is genuinely undefeatable in battle. How would they stop him? I imagine the only way is by tag teaming him. It’d be so interesting
I mean, during D/P Paul was basically a competitive player insert who only cared about results and closely analyzed the stats and abilities of all his Pokemon. I think that they only didn't really touch on the ''breeding'' aspect because it's a bit too risque for a kids show. The final sentiment was that, since Pokemon in the anime were live creatures and not pieces of Data that can be Min-Maxed a trainers bond and the amount of training made the difference. Like that early reference to leveling is completely out of place in the later anime.
Yeah, that's why Team Rocket would love competitive Pokémon. You just use Pokémon for breeding and wins, and you only care for the strong Pokémon, releasing the "weak" ones and just using for battle the strong ones and the ones in the metagame. Just the opposite of what happens in the anime by the majority of Trainers.
You need to play catch-up with the games then. As of Generation 7 any Pokémon's stats can be perfected with the use of Hyper Training and as of Generation 8 Stat Boosting items like HP up are limited only by the EVs as well as nature changing mints being included to freely alter the Pokémon's nature so the stats grow differently. Effectively, you can catch any Pokémon, no matter how awful it is and make it the best possible Pokémon of its species. So all these problems that existed way back in the old days are just outdated methods now.
@@CrystalGreymon Yeah, I was gonna mention that that's why the anime really lost its chance to do that, since Gamefreak have since tried to rectify that dissonance (and really have been since introducing Return, the attack that literally runs on the power of friendship).

The sorcerer's spoon is no laughing matter. In the books, it was a mythical relic created by Ekrizdis, first resident of Azkaban, to harnass the power of the Dementors so he would be able to properly measure sugar for his morning crumpets. Alas, fearing the powers of exact measurements, Damocles Rowle, in a fit of rage, chose to steal the spoon for his own misguided attempts to convert Azkaban into an elementary school, only to later settle for a prison after figuring that both were the same thing. The spoon was then lost to history, it's dark powers forever lost to time.
It's even more funny if you are from Italy like me, because a famous animator/comic artist/youtuber ages ago did make a video parody of harry potter where he just turns people into spoons
Charmander being caught at a high level makes sense due to how quickly it evolves into Charmeleon and then Charizard - and could also be a reason for why it doesn’t listen to Ash for some time. He doesn’t see Ash to be worthy enough for his efforts, which links in to how Pokemon in the games don’t listen to you above a certain level if you don’t earn ‘x’ amount of gym badges.
Or as the dude said: most of Ash's Pokemon dont wanna evolve because they take after his childish nature of not wanting to grow up, compare that to Charmander who immediately evolves very quickly and (probably) thinks Ash is a weakling-this may due to how his previous trainer treated the Pokemon, leaving him in the rain for being weak.
@@santosvazquez8829 Except it wasn't traded, and they have actual trade machines as shown in the S.S. Anne episode. So Charmander is fully owned by him, yet he still disobeys. Can you explain that?

When capturing low resolution games for upscaling to larger resolutions, make sure you disable bilinear/trilinear/gaussian filtering to keep the footage as sharp and clean as possible and make sure to capture the footage at original resolution or at a resolution larger than the original by factors of 100%. The GBA's resolution is 240x160, so you resize that resolution by 200%, 300%, 400%, etc. (480x360, 720x480, 960x640, etc.) and choose one that fits within the resolution you'll want your final project to be. 240x160 can be upscaled cleanly to fit a 720p youtube video by resizing the game footage to 960x640. If you choose RUclips's 1080p resolution, you can resize to 1440x960. You place the resized footage into your project at 1280x720 or 1920x1080 so you have some space around the game footage for your background, decoration, or what have you, and boom, you've got the cleanest looking game capture you can get. I can see that your captured footage was resized to an in-between resolution because the pixels are stretched to long thin rectangles in multiple places. Every pixel should remain perfectly sharp and square as long as you scale the footage by integers and avoid filtering tanalin.com/en/articles/integer-scaling/ www.imagemagick.org/Usage/filter/ andrew.hedges.name/experiments/aspect_ratio/

16:53 It is, though, cause the Squirtle episode featured Ash being held at gunpoint by four people, so why guns were a problem in this specific episode eludes me.

@@haruhirogrimgar6047 Gary had a literal Pokemon genius as a grandpa. Like. The smartest man in this universe. Paul raised his Pokemon to be the "best" by winning alone. He didn't much care for his Pokemon besides the fact that they would win him battles. Ashes excuse? He's the only one who actually acts like a kid, he's just a normal boy. Nothing special. He wasn't raised by geniuses, or parents that forced him to be his best by any means possible. Hes literally just a 10 year old with a big heart, he puts his Pokemon and their happiness first. People give him shit about letting go of his butterfree and Goodra. Well once again he did it for *their* sake.
@@Botaccount31 We are saying he is dumb because he trains poorly, battles like sh*t often, and makes terrible team combinations. His rivals are all or almost all much smarter than him at the same age. It is his plot armour for the only reason he gets so far. And Intelligence has very little to do with biology. Gary Oak was still able to get a PhD at the age of 10 and he acted like a douche-y kid a lot of the way. Misty was smarter than Ash, there was that unofficial Gym Leader much better and smarter than ash, Young prof. Oak is smarter than Ash in the Celebi movie, I would argue Dawn is Smarter than Ash. He is comparatively really stupid in both his own world and ours. He was only smart in parts of Battle Frontier, parts of D&P. And I hear he was good in X&Y but I dropped the series after how crap Black and White was. Also for Paul, both of their goals was to beat the Elite 4 and be the strongest trainers they could. Paul theoretically was right, given more training his team was objectively better than Ash. He was great in terms of writing to counter Ash, but that doesn't make Ash any "better at Pokemon."
I can't believe it; in the show, Pikachu beat Raichu because it was fast and quick and able to dodge Raichu's power strikes, so in order to recreate it in the game, you had to rely on the sheer brute force of Slam while Raichu hindered your speed with paralysis and then spammed Quick Attack. You literally managed to reverse the roles somehow.
Thing I just noticed for the first time though, there were no bullets in that gun. You see the front of the revolver's cylinder and they're clearly empty... now you may be wondering, did he fire 6 shots or only 5, well ash must have been feeling lucky since he caught 30 Taurus on a single run through of the safari zone... punk.

I'm kind of surprised by how not over leveled you were you in the beginning. I mean, you were over leveled by a mile in the middle but it evened out nicely by the end.
I feel like that's how Leaf Green/Fire Red are, not gonna lie, I remember my blastoise and pidgeot were waaaaay over levelled for where I was. They were near level 50 before I fought Koga.
10:02 this is one of those moments where anime logic actually made sense. In Gen 1, if you evolve Raichu too early, it never learns Quick Attack. This isn't the case in Gen 3 though.

XY and XY&Z specially. He in them start to progress and even surprise with some battles. Sadly, it was the only Pokémon anime where he was a decent character.
After watching a lot of "Can you only beat Pokemon A with only a B?" type videos, this was a fantastic and super fun change of pace, because there's a lot more of an even challenge whilst still offering said challenge! Hoping to see the Johto Series next because I loved this video from start to finish and really appreciated the attention to detail/level for Pokemon. Amazing video, happily subscribed! ❤️
Seeing as how Lt. Surge in the game uses more then his Raichu, I feel like you should have been allowed to use more then just your Pikachu. If the Gym Leader is going to use additional Pokemon that he didn’t use in the anime, the player should be allowed to, as well. That’s only fair.
I just remember Ash getting into the league fights, and bringing a Bellsprout and a Krabby. It would've been fun to see you use the Pokemon he did for each fight, but I think that would probably require hacking in PCs in each room.
I did consider going through with the team of three that he used for each of his five Pokémon League battles but yeah, it seemed kind of awkward to work out. A lot of them required guess work because you sometimes only saw one or two of the Pokémon he actually used.
So as far as "Ash usually just got the badges out of pity." That's not entirely accurate. Boulder Badge: Funny match. The sprinklers helped Pikachu gain the upper hand. Brock's siblings deliberately interfered, preventing Pikachu from delivering the finishing blow. Ash had Brock beat through a lucky (but perfectly legal) break. Cascade Badge: This one can be chalked up to a pity win. The regular gym leaders were not able to battle, so Misty stepped up. Their match was interrupted before a winner could be decided. Maybe Ash would have beat Misty had Team Rocket not gotten involved, but we'll never know. Thunder Badge: Ash won fair and square. Rainbow Badge: Team Rocket once again interfered before a winner could be decided. Ash heroically saved Erika's pokemon from a fire, and Erika gave him the badge out of gratitude, not pity. Marsh Badge: I mean... I guess Ash won? Haunter distracted Sabrina, which caused Kadabra to go into a laughing fit and was no longer able to battle, so it lost by DQ. But you can call it a pity badge if you want. Soul Badge: Ash won a fair battle. Volcano Badge: Close battle between Magmar and Charizard, but Charizard came out the winner and gave Ash a legitimate victory. Earth Badge: Giovanni was indisposed, so Team Rocket were gym leaders by proxy. Ash and his team battled back and defeated them. It's not Ash's fault the real leader was not in town, and they did use Giovanni's pokemon to battle (but not his best pokemon). Still, a legitimate victory. So at least half of his badges are the result of him winning legitimately. Another 2 are kinda, sorta "wins" but with an asterisk. The remaining 2 battles did not see a conclusion, but badges were awarded anyway. The bigger critique is how many times Ash lost on his first attempt. Boulder Badge: Lost first attempt. Thunder Badge: Lost first attempt. Marsh Badge: Lost first AND second attempt. Volcano Badge: Lost first attempt.
I mean it was his first league so I think we can cut some slack. It’s not like he deliberately used Pikachu against a Ground specialist while having a Grass/Flying type available in his team or anything oh wait (Hapu battle)

"Are you going to do this for other generations?"
Yes!
How did you get '_____' in Fire Red?"
I used the Universal Pokémon Randomizer to get Pikachu as my starter and all of the other wild Pokémon that seem out of place were there because I edited the wild Pokémon before starting with Advance Map.

Matthew Philip Roberts also, technically it’s a trade Pokémon, which makes it more likely to disobey
Does make Charmander's former owner not only jackass but complete idiot
Or as the dude said: most of Ash's Pokemon dont wanna evolve because they take after his childish nature of not wanting to grow up, compare that to Charmander who immediately evolves very quickly and (probably) thinks Ash is a weakling-this may due to how his previous trainer treated the Pokemon, leaving him in the rain for being weak.
Only traded pokemon disobey due to high level, but one could debatably consider charmander traded since we never saw him get released, just abandoned

Every pixel should remain perfectly sharp and square as long as you scale the footage by integers and avoid filtering

"Ash's dumb boy energy is totally rubbing off on me" is probably the best thing stated in this video 16:00
-Jo R 2020
I can't believe it; in the show, Pikachu beat Raichu because it was fast and quick and able to dodge Raichu's power strikes, so in order to recreate it in the game, you had to rely on the sheer brute force of Slam while Raichu hindered your speed with paralysis and then spammed Quick Attack. You literally managed to reverse the roles somehow.
16:50 Goddamn... all they did was sing and then he goes "You want to be shot?" LMAO
Thing I just noticed for the first time though, there were no bullets in that gun. You see the front of the revolver's cylinder and they're clearly empty... now you may be wondering, did he fire 6 shots or only 5, well ash must have been feeling lucky since he caught 30 Taurus on a single run through of the safari zone... punk.
Pumped up kicks..
It is truly a mystery.A ANIME MYSTERY.Thanks for reading.
“in the same episode he caught caterpie he evolved it into metapod, that was an action packed episode”
wow i can’t even imagine that sounds insane jesus christ
A caterpie
AND A METAPOD?
WOAH
I know you’re joking but it actually kinda was, little fucker beat an ekans and a koffing
Metapod off
"Your onestop shop to answer questions you were never bored enough to ask" Aight with an opening like that I'm subing
Before the vid: so how many Tauros are you going to catch?
During the vid: uncontrollable laughing, well done mad lad
You could tried that in Pokemon Yellow because in Viridian Forest there's a 1% chance of finding a level 9 Pidgeotto and you can find all the starters there, but otherwise I like the video ^^
You can find all the starters in Viridian Forest in FRLG !? I thought it was only Pikachu that you could catch
@@iamnotinvolved1309 no, not in FRLG. they said yellow
@@MartyriaDoll ohhh, Ty. I read it wrong
Yeah I get why you’re saying that, but you can’t catch any of the Johto pokemon. So ETU had to make the executive decision to play Fire Red so that those newer pokemon were available
He needed Bayleef for the final battle, its not in Yellow unfortunately.
Krabby. :(
Went out of the way to get Lapras and a box full of Tauros but no Krabby.
Krabby hung out with Oak, it wouldn't be fair to leave him in a box with no Oak. :
I wanted 2 like but I dunt wanna destroy the 69 likes
I'm kind of surprised by how not over leveled you were you in the beginning. I mean, you were over leveled by a mile in the middle but it evened out nicely by the end.
I feel like that's how Leaf Green/Fire Red are, not gonna lie, I remember my blastoise and pidgeot were waaaaay over levelled for where I was. They were near level 50 before I fought Koga.
@@mayravixx25 yeah, the game gets way too easy after beating misty. But then the elite four comes amd kicks your ass
10:02 this is one of those moments where anime logic actually made sense. In Gen 1, if you evolve Raichu too early, it never learns Quick Attack. This isn't the case in Gen 3 though.
“I know this wasn’t the hardest challenge” 26:56
Time: Am I joke to you?
Richie C he showed the full game
Logic: am I joke to u Richie C
@@jedidiahs.3047 he spent a long ass time catching a box of Toros
Hayden Rodriguez lmao
*Try Magikarp with only Splash*
*Or Clefairy with only Metronome*
every veteran Pokemon player:
Yes. easily in fact.
Shorter title: "Can You Beat Pokemon Fire Red as Ash?"
That would be Yellow Verizon.... He had to have used a GameShark to catch all three starters in FireRed...
"The matchup everyone wants to see.. charizard vs blastoise but I dont want charizard to get washed away" . It's the whole reason he beat gary. He got lucky it's the miracle that got pulled off
You earned my “like” at the full page of safari zone Tauros
safari zone Tauros *in a great ball*
Lmao i had to search for this comment!
10:32 I'm not crying, you're crying
Man I forgot how stupid ash really was when the show first started
Bird Bird When did he get more intelligent?
Ash is the embodiment of every young first-time Pokémon player, stumbling through the game with only a vague understanding on how things work.
Hello fellow bird, I am bird too.
XY and XY&Z specially. He in them start to progress and even surprise with some battles. Sadly, it was the only Pokémon anime where he was a decent character.
Still is hella stupid, fam
That battle with Lt. Surge being almost verbatim how it was in the show put a dumb smile on my face
This is really creative, I appreciate the research that went into making this challenge video
You could play Pokémon: Ash Gray
It’s a ROM hack of FRLG where it’s closer to the Anime
Ash gray is without a doubt one of the best fake pokemon games that you can buy online. The team rocket version is pretty sweet as well.
Ash grey is not fake its a fan made ROM hack of fire red
Cuyler Sloan anything that isn’t an official Pokémon release is considered fake. They still are good games, just not official
Adventure Red Chapter is also an amazing romhack.
I do personally prefer Red over Ash / manga over anime so it's the version I preferred a lot more.
I played a little of it
Seeing as how Lt.
Bird Keeper Toby, years ago, figured out that Krabby would NOT get enough exp to evolve against that exeggutor.
he actually did not use bellsprout. one of the trainers he had to fight used bellsprout.
@@nihildwo4874 Oh, you're right. It's been a while.
@@cadencenavigator958 i mean you tend to forget the technicalities of a series you probably watch 20 years ago XD
4 pity badges. The good thing about this though, is the fact that Ash refused each badge when it was given to him by pity.
OH MY GOD😲😲😲🙀🙀🙀
I mean it was his first league so I think we can cut some slack.
It’s not like he deliberately used Pikachu against a Ground specialist while having a Grass/Flying type available in his team or anything oh wait
(Hapu battle)
isn't the point of the league that all of the trainers are knowledgeable/experienced (hence the gym badges). wdym that ash didn't know because it's his 'first league'
@@jackdiddles4304 I mean it was his first journey. I wouldn't expect most people to be particularly skilled or knowledgeable in their first attempt. Also the point of the league is to offer open participation in competition to anyone who wants to enter
You got me in the feels with that Mystery Dungeon music.
