One of the only things known is that George Martin wrote and played the piano part, and that John and Paul contributed but nobody is truly sure how much other than the entire idea came from John himself. Thus making it a John song.

I was there when the Beatles did this one (I'm sort of old, yea), and I've always loved their disc. But, for some reason, I'm really digging Ed's version, as he puts a twist on it, and brings something out of the song that snaps it up to attention. I love it!
