@@myamdane6895 Yes. But he's insinuating we know how it ends. But what is the end? It's all relative. Does our real life history have an end? Something to philosophize about.
I think the thing I am most concerned over are the scenes in between the major historical beats we see in the Fire & Blood history book and how well that'll fit into the story. When Game of Thrones went off script sometimes it was a hit (Arya & Tywin, Robert & Cersei scenes) and sometimes it wasn't. Fire & Blood is a history book told by a maester and not POV characters like in Ice & Fire so this should be interesting to see how they fill out what happens in between major events. But props to them this does look good, am definitely excited.
@RedTeamReview True, they have to fill the world with minor characters and natural dialogue that would never be mentioned in the Fire and Blood history book. Characters like Podrick and Bronn, Shae, Ser Rodrik, Brienne - GoT and ASOIAF have so many characters that make the story and world rich and colourful that wouldn't be mentioned by history books, all of which would need to be added by the show runners to capture the same vibe as GoT S1-4. And almost all the dialogue too. There is a lot of work for the writers to do but also a lot of freedom. This could be a good thing or a bad thing. I'm not worried but I'm not letting my hopes get up either.
Since the characters are not given much depth in the original source material, the show can flesh them out by inventing things that happen in between the major beats and that means they are free to shape the characters much more to the showrunners' own interpretation of the story than the entitled book purists might like, even though what they have on the page is not much, since it's not told from the characters' POV. If it makes the book purists mad, I'm all for it at this point honestly because their limited tolerance for artistic flexibility stifles artistic creativity in a lot of ways.
I actually think this is going to be a benefit to the show. The writers are going into it knowing that this is the case, and they have less of a crutch to rely on like D&D did during the earlier seasons. We don’t really have to worry about the writing diverging from George’s vision too much because it’s a different type of adaptation. It’s more like adapting historical events (think Chernobyl miniseries) rather than adapting a beloved book series which is much more difficult to do justice.
From what I know of the story... aside from the dragons, there won't be as much magic in this show as there was in Game of Thrones. So people who enjoyed the more grounded side of GoT, but still liked the dragons (which there'll be more of this time), will probably enjoy this show even more.
One of the worst things about GoT was how much the show runners minimized the magical and esoteric aspects of the story. They had zero interest in the overarching themes, archetypes, and supernatural cycles that tied everything together. For HOTD to be better than GOT the writers need to stay more loyal to the source material. Even though that entails less magic this time around. Just write an adaptation, not fan fiction.
@@3lastname390 Yes but magic is still scarce and mysterious. There are mages that can control fire at will and necromancers but they are extremely rare.
@@mattfoulgerBC GOT actually had to balance the grounded and more fantastical elements and it did so admirably imo because there was never a moment where I felt the magic was out of place but 5 books that are 1000 pages each are different than 8 seasons of tv. You need to condense things, change things around and ultimately decide what the main focus of your show is going to be. House of the Dragon has an easier task because it no longer needs to convince the audience of the existence of dragons alongside medieval politics...because GOT already successfully did so previously. Also, GOT was not fan fiction, as they worked based on Martin's outline for the ending once they went ahead of the material covered by the books.
If you haven’t read the source material why even say this? there is a lot of magic in fire and blood and the dance of dragons which this show is based on
@@TSEliot1978 They've been doing that for years now. It doesn't have to have a reason, it's just the thing to do because story and lore will always be sacrificed at the altar of virtue signals.
@@TSEliot1978 The other day Condal said everything they put into this show has a reason behind it. There's a theory I like that could easily explain it. With the amount of times that they repeat how much they respect George's source content, it seems like HBO is hyper aware of how much they can't fuck this one up. I have hope.
Of course they can't. This is HBO's only shot at a massive flagship giving way to an entire cinematic universe. If it fails, HBO will end up in the same pit as Netflix.
George does seem pleased with the project. As far as finishing ASOIAF - I just think he is bored with it and would much rather work with HBO on spin-offs.
I like how they are saying that "they are gonna stay faithful to it" and "its in good hands" and "you have to respect it and not do different for differents sake", i really pray that it will be better this time

Regardless of the faults with the later seasons of GoT. I don't anybody could say that the costume, set design and special effect weren't A tier. (Not including coffee cups :D)
so far the costuming looks amazing, still in the same world but has an older feel. really looks like this world happened before the game of thrones we know. super challenging to do with costuming but they pulled it off
Thank you for coming back with “you have to start with respecting it.” Staying true to the GOT [with the exception of the ending, of course]. Salute on this one. I’m now looking forward to it. 🙏🏼
They should do a feature film released in theaters of Robert's Rebellion, IMO. It's a story we mostly know already, but kinda just want to SEE, so they don't really need to do a full on show about it or anything. I was hoping for an actual flashback in GoT, but they just had Littlefinger tell us about it. A feature film would be ideal for maximum production value into the battles, with just enough time to tell the story adequately. It'd basically be Braveheart in Westeros.
@@AWSVids roberts rebellion isnt a big interesting story .we need aegon's conquest or blackfyre rebellion story characters like bloodraven would be dope to see
I literally have a dream in working in one of this season. Let see how far it go. These shows are not just any thing but feelings. There is connection of soul with these stories.
Looks fantastic, but the interviews here feel like HBO is both trying to tie the show to GoT to make the casuals want to watch it, while also distancing it from late GoT to pacify the fans who despised the ending. They're reassuring us that these are people who respect the material and know what they're doing... And I believe them!
Can you lot stop for a moment in terms of trying to mindread what Martin secretly thinks of the showrunners of the most successful fantasy show ever made? Most of the time you only end up making stuff up about the showrunners anyway.
Just hearing the original Game of Thrones themes music playing in the background is giving me chills and building up the anticipation of the 21st drawing close.
The difference between how this show is perfectly bringing fans back after what happened with szn 8 vs how Amazon is completely killing all hype for the rings of power is crazy
Honestly, I'm as excited as I was whenever a new season of Thrones was coming around. It's great to hear that theme again, to revisit and get lost in this incredible world, it really brings all those same feelings back. After the fallout from the final season and from what I've read of the recent articles you can kind of tell that HBO knew George was right all along in needing more seasons to truly tell the story. I feel he's more in the driving seat this time. We're all here because of him and I just hope and pray to the Seven that the quality is as good as those early seasons. Hyped!
@@bregowine I think HBO would fire the Showrunners before they could pull that. I believe they learned not to have too much trust over their employees now and changed contracts. Also I really don't see Ryan and Miguel doing this rather than leaving the project.

Knowing that this show covers the Dance of the Dragons, I don't think the non book readers are ready for the slaughter. Although they'll probably spend this season setting up the conflict.
I am so heartbroken from season 8 but looking forward to the prequels. Hope it can reignite some of the love.
Only people heartbroken by season 8 are people, who couldn’t see the writing on the wall….the ending is what George told them it would be lolol it was clear from season 4 on that’s the direction it was going. Y’all need to quit crying just because D&D didn’t pick YOUR fanfic to finish it.

@@otda3675 What? The whole ending would have been alright if it wasn't rushed out like crazy. With more time to actually develop, it wouldn't have felt so lazy.
@@otda3675 People aren’t mad about the ending per se, yes George told them something along the lines of what would happen. But the way it was done and how rushed and poorly done it was plays a factor. Also Bran, Arya killing the Night King…like. Season 8 made terrible decisions. So you can wipe the sweat off your forehead now because no one is going to change their opinion based off of your lame comment .
I don't think there are any problems with season8,a good story doesn't need a good ending
I'm so excited to go back to Westeros. It's a world that means more to me than I can describe. I know what happened with GoT, but I see no reason to tear this show down before it's even started because of that. If they do the same thing then whatever I'll get over it. "You have to start by respecting it. You can't just do different for different's sake." Now that is what I like to hear. Too many writers try to give a story its own twist these days, and that often ruins the story. For example, Halo and Wheel of Time. Both completely fleshed out stories they could have beeb faithful to, but they decided to do what they wanted and everyone hated it. To hear these writers talk about this franchise the way they do and the fact that GRRM is involved has given me high hopes. Honestly just glad it's not D&D writing it. That alone is a massive W
At 1:33 I stopped paying attention to whatever they were saying because I heard the music. I dont know if the show is good, but theres no doubt Ramin Djawadi created another masterpiece. 🎧
I seriously couldn't be more excited. I really missed this world, I've rewatched the main series twice since it ended and everything I've seen about this series makes me giddy. To have this and LOTR airing at the same time is a dream for a fantasy fan like myself.

You have to blame Dan & Dave tbh
We all know how it ends, but the journey that’s going to get us there, it going to be an epic ride throughout this series.
But does it ever end? That's the question.
@@thejason347 Yes, this is all history that is already written by GRRM
@@myamdane6895 GRRM might write more books set 800 years in the future. Then there's a new end.
@@thejason347 That's entirely possible. But this show is set 150 years in the past
No one cares goofball
Man good old game of thrones days brba on air undertaker's streak gta 5 those ps 2 games

From what I know of the story... aside from the dragons, there won't be as much magic in this show as there was in Game of Thrones. So people who enjoyed the more grounded side of GoT, but still liked the dragons (which there'll be more of this time), will probably enjoy this show even more.
Wait aren't Dragons and magic connect in that world? Isn't magic supposed to be stronger with more dragons?
If you haven’t read the source material why even say this? there is a lot of magic in fire and blood and the dance of dragons which this show is based on
“You can’t start by doing different for different sake.”

@@TSEliot1978 They've been doing that for years now. It doesn't have to have a reason, it's just the thing to do because story and lore will always be sacrificed at the altar of virtue signals.
@@TSEliot1978 Apparently it was suggested by G.R.R Martin himself.
@@TSEliot1978 The other day Condal said everything they put into this show has a reason behind it. There's a theory I like that could easily explain it. The Velaryon's are seafarers and a lesser Valyrian House, if Corlys father or grandfather married a Summer Islander than that would explain the change in a way that would not go against the preestablished lore
The episodes Miguel Sapochnik directed for GOT were usually my favorite ones and I could tell it was him working on them as they were SO good! Reaaaaaally excited for House of the Dragon and can't wait to see it.

Still hoping one day we see the Tourney at Harrenhal on screen.

Maybe not better than s 1 to 4 but better than 5 7 and 8
Eh, they have to prove that first. GOT had a lot of tv-defining moments and changed how people look at fantasy storytelling. This show is essentially doing something the previous show already did successfully so it needs to find its own identity and do a lot of things well before I can say it's better than GOT. If it manages to make 8 seasons without stupid fanboys throwing temper tantrums that would already be good.
