At the siege of Hellholt Aegon's favorite sister-wife Rhaenys flew attacks on her dragon Meraxes, when a scorpio-bolt struck the dragon's eye. It fell out of the sky and slowly died on the ground (tearing down parts of the castle in the process).

If they had Jon Snow finish his grudge match with the Night King instead of Arya, the whole prophecy thing may have made more sense.
I think the show in a stupid way tried and failed to say that the threat was Dany not The Night King. So Jon did save Westeros and complete the prophecy. But poor writing just mucked it up.
Actually a very good point is that Daemon is a mature Jofferey. Only difference is that Daemon knows how to fight, is brave, and doesn't have royal authority.
