Saw them a few weeks ago playing selections from the first four albums. Killer gig! Thanks so much for posting this; especially love Second Bridge - unbelievable song!
Great, except Reptile. Steve is not singing on the beat. He's coming in too late. And before some..person, says "He can do what ever he likes, eegghh !" It doesn't work or sound as good as how the singing, actually goes. Drummer is superb.
Wrong. They are an incredible part of the Church. However, both left during the heyday (pun intended). This is Steve's band, period. The last two records are TOP FIVE in the Church's cannon of EPIC masterpieces. Ash, Ian and Jeff are all great talents and bring a unique style that are all their own and not Peter or Marty (both of whom I love as players also . I saw them at least half a dozen times or more). This band only gets better and I suggest you go watch the live show in Texas October 2023 it is in two parts, you can find it. This band just gets better and better. I selfishly want a new record and tour in 2025. I have over 30 new TOP songs from 23/24 that I am playing to death from the studio recordings and still finding nuanced little easter eggs all of the time. As a fan for 40 years, the CHURCH never disappoint. Everyone but Steve can be replaced, deal with it like we all have had to accept it. We love every iteration of the group!!!
@Undercoverbrotherfromanother Right or wrong is a matter of opinion. And if I agreed with your opinion, then we would both be wrong. The current musicians don’t even come close to the musicians from the band’s earlier lineup. And that’s without even mentioning Richard, who was the best drummer The Church has ever had to this day. In any case, opinions and tastes are subjective. And even though I was an undeniable fan of the band for more than two decades, it’s fair to state with full conviction that Steve Kilbey is nothing more than a prima donna. He’s always in his crystal castle, on his pedestal, often looking down on the fans who are the ones keeping the band alive. In fact, he has treated many fans rudely and unfairly. That said, I’m glad for your loyalty, even though I consider loyalty to be blindness.
@chillingastronaut1877 Richard was too fast and had issues keeping time, no offense. That was both live and in the studio. Everyone is entitled to an opinion and has one. However Everyone has has an asshole and your opinion, like your asshole, stinks.
Great show; wish I was there! Wish we were there 📻💌📱🌠🌌
Kudos to Steve Kilbey for keeping this music alive. ❤
