Is this XiaoXin model really identical to the Lenovo P11-Pro for the European/USA markets? Or does it have a mix of Chinese / English software, a crippled Playstore and/or a Chinese power adapter plug, which is typical for Chinese products that are made for their internal market?
Charger is with a Chinese plug. Software is a standard global ROM, it's identical to ones on Lenovo tablets in Europe or US. Lenovo calls this ROM version ROW (Rest Of the World). Google services are preinstalled and work flawlessly. Netflix is also preinstalled. Hardware name of the XiaoXin model is different to the standard Lenovo P11 Pro model. More experienced users suspect this to be related to different hardware responsible for communication (different antennas, modems, and potentially different bands supported), as all other specs are identical. Different model name however means the XiaoXin had to undergo a separate route of certification and this leads me to the only problem I found with this tablet. It manifests itself when you try to update Netflix via Play Store and you receive a popup telling you that the tablet is no longer supported by Netflix. When you open up information section in Google Play Store, it shows the tablet doesn't have Google Play Protect certificate installed. The certificate can only be obtained from Google by the manufacturer, so this can't be 'fixed' by the user by any means. Nonetheless applications, including Google ones receive updates via the Play Store and can be installed without any problems. Netflix is the sole application I use which demands Google Play Protect certificate. This means the version preinstalled can't be updated and being outdated refuses to connect to the Netflix service. Currently the only way to get Netflix to run is by downlading its APK file from a web site such as APK Pure and manually installing it. It works perfectly fine after that (until a new version is released and you have to repeat the manual update).

550 euroes here in the Netherlands, so much cheaper than in Spain for some reason. Depending on how much import tax is, probably worth buying "locally". Shipping is faster, global rom installed from factory, can be returned without nearly as much hassle, etc.
It's called export and import. The exporter party wants to profit off its developments(if you think China is bad, then you probably shouldn't check out USA's portfolio), while the importing party needs to: A)validate every product(offer own warranty) B) store every product C) adapt every product(localized ROM etc). Agree! The Tab S7/S7+ have such amazing displays, top tier quality LCD and OLED displays that look absolutely gorgeous! Best of the best out there when it comes to tablets. For such an expensive tablet, the Lenovo should be a much better tablet overall :/ It has the Snapdragon 730G. Tab S7 has the SD 865+. The new upcoming Tab S8 will probably get an even better chipset. The hardware and software on the Tab S7 is top quality, best of the best. It also has better multitasking and desktop mode (aka DeX). Also, 4GB RAM n Android tablets is ok, but 6GB is the lowest I would go. Tab S7 has 6/8GB RAM along with 128/256GB storage. Also, once you use 120hz, you will love it and will not want to pay $300+ for any phone or tablet that doesn't have at least 90hz. It makes the tablet so smooth and your experience so much better. The pencil is also better and with the 120hz is 👌🏼 In november the Tab S7 was at $300 on some insane Microsoft deals. When the S21 launched, they were giving the Tab S7 for $300 on bundles. But it's usually at $550. So if this Lenovo tab is more than $300, better spend a little more and get a real great tablet and better experience with the Tab S7. You just can't go wrong with Samsung. I switched from Apple in 2015 and it's been the best thing ever! :D
@@Hhubs_ but this Lenovo Tab seems to have low quality OLED screen. Most reviewers have noticed right away and showed how bad it looks compared to the best OLED screen out there S7+ and compared to 1 of the best LCD screens out there S7.
Thanks a lot for reviewing tablets again. I want to buy a premium tablet with a good screen for basic day-to-day tasks, and this seems to hit the spot for a good price! Thanks again, I hope Lenovo keep releasing tablets like this one.
Little Tip: Test Netflix quality using Test Patterns movie in the netflix. It will show you the detailed information such as video quality, bitrate, fps. Etc.
It looks pretty impressive, but the deal I got still beats anything, I got the Huawei Mediapad M6, it has 4 speakers tuned by Harman/Kardon, a 10.8" 2K IPS LCD, a huge battery (dont remember the exact size, but even with youtube and gaming it lasts 2 days), it has the 3 year old, but still very very fast and powerfull, flagship kirin 980, it has micro sd support, very fast fingerprint and face unlock, build quality is also awesome, pen support (im using the official huawei one that I got on amazon for 20€), even tho it doesn't have google services, there are plenty workarounds and I haven't had an issue using it without google services, the emui rom is still getting updates, and I got all this for 320€, I know it sounds crazy, and I did get it "used", but the reason I put it between "" is because it was classified as B used in the store (for those who live in Portugal or UK they may know the store, is called cex), and the device is flawless, it came with the box, all acessories included, 0 visual marks on the tablet, really, I'm surprised I was able to get a deal like this, its really good
That's a good just the lack of google puts me off. I had the Mediapad with the kirin 990, I couldn't use or review it even as so many apps (back then) all asked for Google services or they simply wouldn't run. It was so frustrating I returned it.
@@Techtablets I actually dont mind, even for me, someone who is in college, apps like outlook, microsoft teams, they may at first say they dont work without google services, but I just press ok, and they work normally, what I did after some digging was find alternatives, and I ended up finding the Aurora Store, it has the same layout and all the google play store apps, because it uses the same API, it even lets you connect your google account for it to check if you purchased an app or not, with this I was able to install all my games, including, for example, genshin impact, and it works without an issue, and with this soc, I can play it with max settings, for everything else I use alternatives, I tried and, curiously enough, Chrome works without an issue, doesn't even say it needs google services, but for everything else I use huaweis alternative, their email app, their calendar, etc, for youtube I use youtube vanced, I know vanced is kinda hacking because it gives you youtube premium for free, but its the only one that works without needing google services, again, like the Aurora Store, it lets me use my google account and get notifications, post comments, all normal youtube stuff like it was a normal device, so, basically, after a tiny research looking for alternatives, I found the perfect replacements and have no need for google services, more, my phone is a Huawei mate 20 pro, same soc even, and the connection between both is pretty good, multi-screen collaboration is really useful, the only thing that I find weird is that the tablet has already gotten the emui 11 update, yet, my phone hasn't, but oh well, guess I gotta wait more

Great review Chris! Hopefully Lenovo will release a 2nd gen version next year, with 120 Hz display, a more powerful SoC, and wireless charging support. They're definitely moving in the right direction but I still think Samsung's Tab S6 Light is a better all-rounder AND it has the 3.5 mm jack.

I have a Lenovo M10 FHD+ and a M8 HD. Be aware that update policy by Lenovo is a disaster. The upgrade to Android 10 created lots of problems like : no apps notifications, no automatic updates of the widgets, etc. Since 4 months they have been unable to fix those problems. I recommend to go on Lenovo forum to check that before bying. Lenovo hardware is very appealing for the price but the software monitoring is a disaster and that makes their tablets useless quickly...
Yeah, Lenovo makes excellent hardware but they are the worst company when it comes to software updates. It's been like that for years and there's no sign that they'll change it. For 350 euros I could not getting Android 11, but for 650+, HELL TO THE NO.
@@dejanstarwars10 Android 9 working properly is way better than Android 10 making the device useless. Problem : you can't downgrade to Android 9. We're asking Lenovo to make that possible but no... We're stick with a rom full of bugs.
Hi. Is this a chinese ROM or the global one? And which one would you recommend? I heard that if I choose the global ROM i'd receive an unsealed box because the global ROM needs to be installed in the tablet first(so the seller would open the tablet itself?)
Thank you so much for the awesome review! I'd love to see a review for the non-Pro version, I found it for only 240$ but was wondering if it had a good display like my brother's s6 lite.
Thank you Chris for this nice review. I just received yesterday the Xiaoxin Pad Pro from Banggood. How can I check if it has the Global ROM installed? Is there a way?
100% Go Amiga. I'm looking to build a restored A500 such awesome PCs for back then. Also, I ripped 1000s of Amiga game tunes years ago on a website called Amigamusic.com I still own the domain I should get it up and running again.
Hi Chris, great review again! I love this tablet and very well may get it. Of course, there may also be import duties shipping to UK/Europe I guess, but still much cheaper. This is the Lenovo P11 Pro but there is also the Lenovo P11 (non-Pro). This would also be really great to get a review of, though I couldn't find it, or XiaoXin version of it on Banggood. Not sure if you can find it on an import website though? Now it's IPS instead of OLED so less vibrant and also uses a funny resolution of 2000x1200 which is a really odd 5:3 ratio and what's more, on the width, doesn't fit any common video resolution e.g. 1080p, 1440p etc so there will always be scaling (unlike this P11 Pro having 1:1 scaling at 1440p with black bars). BUT, it is of course cheaper. In UK, Lenovo website has it at £230 vs £450 for P11 Pro which is a big difference, so there might also be a big difference on importing websites too. It's also snapdragon 662 instead of 730g. However, it also officially supports widevine lvl 1 and also has quad speakers so it could be the king of budget HD Netflix/Amazon tablets! I'm happy with IPS vs OLED (and the cheaper price!) but I do have a reservation about whether the non 1:1 video scaling will look decent or not. Let me know if you are looking at getting it in for review or not!
I'm thinking of getting mi pad 5 for studying purpose and due to my brand loyalty towards xiaomi😂. But I guess this is good for me to get bcs of budget constraint. Plus I wanna get a new laptop too next year 😁 thanks for reviewing it
@@Techtablets there are problem that cause short and power down when you press some place on back . Also some devices automatically reboots randomly and cube stopped shipping them now..
I've been trialing my old tablets (HD 8 2018, Miix 2 8, Dell 7275) and ultimately decided on trading in my HD 8 for a new HD 10, $55 out of pocket. My primary use case is video playback at accelerated speeds, and a combination of streaming apps and Jellyfin as my media server allows the HD 10 to fulfill its use case. However, in my experimentation and tinkering, I always came to the same conclusion. How come iPads have Sidecar but Android tablets don't have a good equivalent? AFAIK wired Sidecar has GPU support, so it's essentially an iPad and fully functioning portable monitor for Mac. Splashtop or Spacedesk are ok, but are software rendered or rely on HW decode/encode. I understand that Apple tightly integrates software and hardware. However, it's not like Android tablet manufacturers don't have a similar level of control. On Windows, Project to this PC is cool, but still CPU-heavy and not really viable for mobile work. I just use my tablet for background or continued watching, but that's because that's little else I can do without DeX or some OEM desktop mode. I'm surprised Samsung and Windows haven't come up with a good solution to make the S7 a portable monitor for Windows machines with TB3 or something that more or less guarantees a recent-generation iGPU. Insanely high-spec Android tablet for media consumption with all the functionality a second screen can bring. I'm really interested in this P11 Pro, as I am in the Chromebook Duet. However, it's really hard to justify paying so much for devices with such niche optimal use cases. It's not like I couldn't use an Android tablet as my primary device, and a PC + phone already fulfills those functions well enough that a tablet is strictly a luxury product for power users or budget purchase for basic buyers. These premium tablets really need to start adding the real feature we want: DisplayPort Alt-mode in, with HID support. I would have bought an S7 yesterday if I could just plug it into my PC for high quality secondary touch display. Spending $200 on a quality portable monitor doesn't feel as good as buying a standalone tablet, but ultimately would benefit most consumers in the long-run. I wish product managers and engineers would recognize and tackle this void.
dude in what planet you are lol new updated one ui 3 has the option for use tab s7 / s7 plus as a monitor for windows 10 and only require being conected in the same wifi network and this feacture is probably now coming for the entry level tablet
Chris I have a question. Is this Lenovo p11 pro better or Huawei mediapad m6? Because I am getting both in a very similar price range. Which one do you rate higher?
Great review as always. Is it worth upgrading from a huawei mediapad M5? This has a slightly larger screen. Do you know how it compares in other respects?
Hi! I'm having a hard time deciding between Lenovo P11 Pro or Galaxy Tab S6 Lite, I wonder if you could help me! Really considering the fact that I'll be using the tablet for taking notes.
600€ in Germany jeez that's really crazy, great reviews as always. The OTA support will be different on the XiaoXin one? Or can you flash the global Lenovo ROM?
It comes with the Global ROM flashed from banggood where I ordered mine, I'm not sure about Aliexpress sellers. But yes OTA updates do work got one already. As for the pricing in europe it just shows how much they overcharge us!
@@Techtablets Europe always gets fleeced when it comes to tech. That's one of the reasons why Europe needs to start developing it's own tech instead of continually relying on the likes of China, Japan, the USA etc.
TechTablets , what is the tooth or texture of the touchscreen like? Does it have enough feel so a finger knows it is sliding? I'm on a Samsung Galaxy Tab S6 without any tooth, and the screen keeps confusing taps with swipes. Due to the problem above I've also found Benchmarks to be of little use. The most "lag" is caused by the tablet's inability to recognise the meaning of a touch. This could be helped if tablets could allow for the removal of swipes or combination of swipe from the "lexicon". Also, while on the screen, it is a OLED. They don't use a lot of power. How fair is your battery test? If you want to heat up that tablet, try this game World Of Steel: Tank Torce from BraveTale, after about 3 months on hard play it will probably heat up as much as this Samsung Tab S6.
@@Techtablets , that is a shame. As it means you'll have no feel of your finger sliding - that really shows in fast paced gaming or feedback with the stylus.
Thanks for the review. I have been agonizing about getting this tablet, only because of the price. Seems way over priced given the 730G chip, but I'm am Android user and hate Samsung's UI so this build quality with clean Android is what I want. Great work
Locally it's overpriced, for at least there is this import option now. Before I had a lot of requests to buy it and I simply said no. Not paying over 600 euros for a SD730G tablet no matter how thin and light it is. But at 3 euros it's much better.
You have the best channel for reviews brother!! Any future concerns with burn-in though since its an OLED? All of my smartphones have gotten burn-in from apps on the main screen after a year and a half or so
Every amoled panel has chances of burn in its kinda hard to say if u will get it or not. Since it's a tablet I don't expect it to stay at high brightness so the chances are less. But if u use ur tablet at high brightness ther is a chance
Wondering if you can help me iam getting confused with this tablet I've seen quite a few reviews that say the p11 pro has snapdragon 870 when I find the tablet on websites it says it's 730g .is there another tablet with similar name or something that has the 870

If possible, could you test the cheapest best alternative pen for this model? Could you test the pentile screen influence about reading PDFs? How is the reading experience under daylight or during the night?
Your videos are amazing, keep the great work!
Thanks for this info and review Chris. Watching from the Philippines and this just might be the answer for what I need.
Amazing Philippines. Hi Rod, I suggest you watch the reviews of alldocube iPlay 30 Pro. It's about P9500 from Lazada.
tank god you've made a review of the pen. I was just waiting for someone to review the pen, and if it was worth it
It's quite a good pen just like the Surface book and Surface Pro pens.
@@Techtablets thanks! It's decided then, it will be my next tablet
That pentile is a deal brealer for me. Great in-depth review as always.
All oled smartphone have a pentile display though.
You're still using a smartphone with IPS in 2021?😥
The screen is fantastic. Go and view one. It really isn't a deal breaker
Agree! The Tab S7/S7+ have such amazing displays, top tier quality LCD and OLED displays that look absolutely gorgeous! Best of the best out there when it comes to tablets.
For such an expensive tablet, the Lenovo should be a much better tablet overall :/
It has the Snapdragon 730G.
The pencil is also better and with the 120hz is 👌🏼
In november the Tab S7 was at $300 on some insane Microsoft deals.
Yes I hope this year we get an update with SD870 even if the rest is the same that would be really something. (If priced well)
@@Techtablets The same tablet with SD870 for +50-100 euros more, imported from China and I am 100% sold.
@@Techtablets I actually dont mind, even for me, someone who is in college, apps like outlook, microsoft teams, they may at first say they dont work without google services, but I just press ok, and they work normally, what I did after some digging was find alternatives, and I ended up finding the Aurora Store, it has the same layout and all the google play store apps, because it uses the same API, it even lets you connect your google account for it to check if you purchased an app or not, with this I was able to install all my games, including, for example, genshin impact, and it works without an issue, and with this soc, I can play it with max settings, for everything else I use alternatives, I tried and, curiously enough, Chrome works without an issue, doesn't even say it needs google services, but for everything else I use huaweis alternative, their email app, their calendar, etc, for youtube I use youtube vanced, I know vanced is kinda hacking because it gives you youtube premium for free, but its the only one that works without needing google services, again, like the Aurora Store, it lets me use my google account and get notifications, post comments, all normal youtube stuff like it was a normal device, so, basically, after a tiny research looking for alternatives, I found the perfect replacements and have no need for google services, more, my phone is a Huawei mate 20 pro, same soc even, and the connection between both is pretty good, multi-screen collaboration is really useful, the only thing that I find weird is that the tablet has already gotten the emui 11 update, yet, my phone hasn't, but oh well, guess I gotta wait more
I bought one base on your review. Great work. Bought it in China @EUR 295
Good choice and what a great price!
Now Lenovo is going to release the 2021 version with SD 870 , I hope you can have it on the channel , greetings.
but doesn't have gps
Thanks. I appreciate your thorough reviews. I might pick this unit up soon.
Many thanks for the clear and comprehensive review. Any similar alternative (price and specs) with windows OS?
Just ordered this for 250€ and I think it's a good deal. Thank you for the review Chris. Recently both my gf and I have bought electronics thanks to your reviews. Keep it up, I really enjoy your content.

We need more android tablets with Snapdragon 800 series processors.
100% yes we do!! I hope they make a cheaper SD 870 one.
tab s6 is clearance now if you find stock , like to bestbuy
I am not interested in the tablet. I am just here to support your channel. You are the only truthful reviewer elaborately examining devices. Please keep up the great work and don't change your style. Greetings from Turkey!
I appreciate that! I'll try not to change my style.
In what specifically would the Samsung be better? I am between these 2
No, tab s6 doesn't have the jack port
@@SIVN89Tab S6 Lite has a headphone jack, its screen is better suited for reading, and stylus is in the box so you don't have to buy it separately.
Hey Chris, nice to see you covering a very decent offering and spotting the import price. But would you recommend this over the iPad 2020? (which is $329)
Depends if you want Android or IOS the iPad is faster.
Only interested to know if MS office tools can be used on this tablet. I have always loved your reviews, just wish a bit more reviews on using MS office tools on future android tablet reviews by you.
Yup, really need 1 windows tablet or both types tablet which has 8gb ram, metal back, longer battery, type c data transfer n charger.
Hi Chris, been a fan of yours for a long time. :) i would like to ask your opinion if I should pick this one or the Xiaoxin pad plus? Their price here is 225 vs 220, and if the pentile amoled isn't really that bad cause other reviewer says it's really bad -.- that's why I'm considering the Xiaoxin pad plus. Hoping for your response chris, thank you and God bless! 😊
Only if you look at the screen closely do you really see it but it will bother some people. Go for the XiaoXin 2021 SD870 model if you can.
i like Tablets they are so useful for Web surfing and media conception
Same here! Good for watching videos on the couch with my ANC headphones if someone else is watching TV 😂
@@Techtablets 😂
Nice review. Btw, does the display of this tablet is oleophobic coating? Thank you
This is DOA for me as Lenovo has nonexistent software updates. Did reviewers just give up on that and just not mention that in reviews anymore at all?
Watch my video I mentioned that. I got an OTA already but unlikely it will get Android 11.
@@Techtablets lol wtf? So... dead on arrival.
DOA for you, but a large portion of the general population doesn't even care about updates.
@@eugene188 Yes, having different opinions is allowed? So what exactly are you arguing about? I was talking about how it’s DOA for me so what has the general population have to do with my opinion on it?
Excellent review very good tablet.Chris could you check please who is the manufacturer of the oled display is it samsung, lg ,boe, auo? You can use cpu z app etc. I had ordered it from banggood and I would like to know the manufacturer of the display. Furthermore I had samsung s5e ,so is the lenovo display better or equal compared to s5e whats your opinion I use the tablet for movies .
Damn they better not release a buggy Android 11 then and repeat this!
Hi. Is this a chinese ROM or the global one? And which one would you recommend? I heard that if I choose the global ROM i'd receive an unsealed box because the global ROM needs to be installed in the tablet first(so the seller would open the tablet itself?)
Does Lenovo know the iPad exists? With a Snapdragon 730 the pricing outside of china is wayyy too high.
I don't think they do, 649 euros here in Spain is absolutely ridiculous!
Nobody truly beats iPad tho
Greetz from Germany. This is a really good video with every important informations about this tablet. You make a good job! Now I will buy it.
Thank you so much for the awesome review!
I'd love to see a review for the non-Pro version, I found it for only 240$ but was wondering if it had a good display like my brother's s6 lite.
LCD NOT OLED BUT 1440P for price i think it's good
Hi Chris. Just only one question. Is the oled display far superior than IPX Xiaomi pad 5 ? Thanks
Thank you Chris for this nice review.
I just received yesterday the Xiaoxin Pad Pro from Banggood.
How can I check if it has the Global ROM installed? Is there a way?
Just want to ask if you can plug in an external mouse and keyboard via USB type c to usb hub 3.0, will it work? Thank you

100% Go Amiga. I'm looking to build a restored A500 such awesome PCs for back then. Also, I ripped 1000s of Amiga game tunes years ago on a website called Amigamusic.com I still own the domain I should get it up and running again.
Hi Chris
Will you still prefer this oled screen over for example mi pad 5 ips ?
i really need to start watching the expanse, thx for reminding me :P
The only problems I can see with this are software support and quality testing.
It seens it doesn't have firmware updates.
Is there any difference compared to buying it from China or Europe? Is it possible to receive future updates with the Chinese version? Thx!
Just bargained Razer phone 1 for 96usd,miss the design a lot, gonna root it with custom roms.
@stonks Dayum.
Awesome review as always Chris! First tablet in a while that I actually want to buy. I hope this trend continues!
I hope so too! Now I would love to see a Dimensity 800 or 1000+ tablet with this type of build.
i wonder why this quality contents have a low subs..
Because a majority of the people unfortunately click on clickbait titles and see it as a form of entertainment rather than in-depth analysis
I'm thinking of getting mi pad 5 for studying purpose and due to my brand loyalty towards xiaomi😂. But I guess this is good for me to get bcs of budget constraint. Plus I wanna get a new laptop too next year 😁 thanks for reviewing it

I wish product managers and engineers would recognize and tackle this void.
dude in what planet you are lol
new updated one ui 3 has the option for use tab s7 / s7 plus as a monitor for windows 10 and only require being conected in the same wifi network
and this feacture is probably now coming for the entry level tablet

Chris I have a question. Is this Lenovo p11 pro better or Huawei mediapad m6? Because I am getting both in a very similar price range. Which one do you rate higher?
I think it is. Mostly due to the fact is has google play services.
I will never buy a Lenovo again.

The screen feels smooth.
Lenovo is very good andriod durable and battery life so long 😁 but a lot of new brand came out that this is not that famous now
Is the Pintile arrangement something only this model suffer from or does every Oled screen suffer from it?
You have the best channel for reviews brother!! Any future concerns with burn-in though since its an OLED? All of my smartphones have gotten burn-in from apps on the main screen after a year and a half or so
Every amoled panel has chances of burn in its kinda hard to say if u will get it or not. Since it's a tablet I don't expect it to stay at high brightness so the chances are less. But if u use ur tablet at high brightness ther is a chance
Exellent review. Thanks so much!!
