Great job all these engine build videos. I have watched a lot of engine building videos on RUclips trying to prepare myself for my first attempt at engine building and yours is the most complete, straightforward and informational. Thank you for sharing!
Im definitely not a know-it-all and really dont want to come off like one so this is just my opinion, but I personally don't like to remove any material from the pin bosses, the bottom of the pin boss is a high stress area as the piston crosses over TDC and changes direction. High rpm is literally trying to jerk the pin out from the bottom of the piston. It only really pertains to high rpm, heavier pistons, irregular rod angle, etc. It's always a pleasure to see folks building a gen one.
I definitely see your point, the bottom areas I mentioned are very beefy on these pistons. I ended up not taking a ton off of there and removed the cast in balancing "pad".
A little tip when installing the connecting rod & piston into the bore & over the rod journal on the crank shaft is to cut a couple pieces of 3/8” ID rubber hose a inch or so long, place these hose pieces over the connecting rod cap studs so if u slip when tapping the pistons into position the threaded stud doesn’t put dings in the cranks rod journal!
Thanks, tracking the hose over the studs trick. Went OK just guiding them into place this time. There are also a few tools out there that do the same thing.
Summit Racing™ Connecting Rod Bearings SUM-171000 and Sealed Power Main Bearing Sets 4663M. Both standard sizes, be sure to check out my other videos about measuring clearances!
Wish you luck you need to go study what your doing, the rings you have are drop in rebuilder rings and balance needs to be done also checking bearing clearance is critical
@diveingarage Your doing great man, if anyone has something to complain about, ask them where their video is and we'll be more then happy to point out anything for them we don't like 😀 Keep up the great work 👍

Thank you, I appreciate that. Good luck on your build! I'm lining up another one for the winter!

@@diveingarage HPA has a good video on this and where to remove material

Seeing you throw those overheated pistons and rods in the trash was a relief
What about the balance of your assembly?
Thanks for sharing. What is the part number for the rod and main bearings?

Nice build
Thanks, it's coming along. Waiting on parts is the worst
@@diveingarage yea tell me about it ....
Get that engine built!
Almost there!
never paint a chevy ford blue. Just me, either black or orange,
GM Corporate blue
Ford isn't the only blue 😂 also that's no where near Ford blue
@@jjmccloud Wow, I was corrected over a year ago. But thanks again lol
@JamesDean-nr6ik just incase you forgot 🫢
I would like to see you hammer a piston pin out ! It takes a hydralic press to remove them !
!
You better check sizing of them even though they are new

Agreed, clearances will make or break a build. Check out the other videos in this series. Everything was checked many times over off camera as well.
I can tell you are new at this, you still need a lot of information to be building an engine !
make a video and link us to it. I'd like to critique it.
Stop saying, "again"!
Haha slowly getting better at this

Thanks! Looking back at this video now, I've come a long way! haha
