I’ve been watching the series on this engine. I got ahold of a TBI motor. We just pulled it last night. Rear main isnt leaking, it spins after a lil effort. #8 had a touch of water but not in the oil. Oil didn’t have the doom swirl in it either. So that was a hopeful sign. I’m lookin at the loaded eBay heads but after watching your vid on em I’m kinda shying away from loaded. I’m also looking at a roller cam. I’ve been seeing horror stories about the flat tappet for awhile. Glad to see they’re holding up under an N/A application. Makes me feel better about em. Thanks bud 🤙🏻
Thanks for watching and glad you're enjoying the videos! You're right, buy the ebay heads bare. I got a video with all the parts you need to put them together. Good luck on that build!
I was worried about that too. Ran a borescope through the distributor hole and inspected. Looked all good. I think it wasn't actually the threads that was the issue, just the interference with the bolt head and that coolant boss.
Just measured, with the scoop I have it's 8" from the top of the fender to the top of the scoop. I'm hoping to do a massive cowl hood. Looks like a 10" might do the trick?
I think the mini-blowers work about as well and will clear the hood if that's what you're worried about. Vice Grip had one on his Monte Carlo. They are great for the street.
I talked about the motor parts and such as I was building it. Forged rods, stock crank, hyperutectic pistons. I know, should been forged pistons. But I'm only planning on around 7-10 pounds of boost. Thinking they'll be ok.
@ sbc 350 .30over 10:1 compression solid flat tappet cam stock bottom end I’ve have ran this thing at 6800rpm all day long for a whole session no problem at all! Just put this motor in a new build for 2025 session

"ARP" joke was pretty great lol.
Haha thought someone would appreciate that 😄
Cool ready to hear some Horsepower !
Dude, it's just like on a boat!
Yes!
Your level of calm is very odd for me to accept 😂
when you run a tap through the cylinder head to fix the bolt that the intake threads into you're dropping thread shavings into the oil gallery

I've been wanting to see this. I want a 671 on my square body but curious on how much is out the hood when done
