Glad you enjoyed it
Nice to see you got away from the crowds at the station for the last view.
It was my plan to get somewhere especially on the N&C line. Most of the time there's hardly anything worth making a special trip for but Sunday was the exception!
Your narratives are much appreciated. This time the extra info on the gypsum train was most welcome.
There used to be a fairly regular service that used a small part of the old GCR line up to East Leake, but given what you said, I guess that's now a thing of the past too.
Good to see 4472 none the worse for wear after her Highlands misadventure.
I'm sure back in the day those sorts of mishaps used to happen regularly, as rail staff hurried to turn trains around.
Thanks! I think what made the Scottish incident worse was that the train didn't appear to be shunted correctly, at least from seeing the videos of the incident, and the train included passengers standing on the balcony which FS hit. I guess the passengers were Americans too which can't have helped.
I thought I saw you on the platform! I was on the gypsum empties. I was surprised to find 40 MEAs on it when I relieved the train at Kirkby Thorpe. There’s the potential for a bit of slack running in and out with all those instanter couplings. Just like the old days but it keeps one’s mind focused on the job! 🤣
Thanks for the info. To be honest I was surprised it ran, having been told that British Gypsum had stopped importing gypsum through Tees Dock. And then the MEAs!
Excellent video as always Les, lovely to see the Scotsman flying through that cutting!
Not only flying but climbing! Thanks
Well, it finally makes its appearance. lol Great video and glad you could catch the classic along with others less famous. lol

Thanks for an interesting variety Les. What is the aroma like from the HVO fuelled 66?
Thanks. To be honest I've no idea!
Superb day at Carlisle Les with both Flying Scotsman and the Blue Pullman.
All these charters must be good for the local economy.
I'd hope so - certainly the tourist places keep aware of them. Glad you enjoyed it.
another great video Les i got a question for you if you know the answer what year did the 10.25am Leeds to Glasgow Central finish running used to go via S+C dumfries kilmarnock into glasgow at 15.00hrs depart south at 16.05 into leeds about 2145 hrs the last time i was on that was in 1965 used it to carlisle for a good days spotting
It was apparently running in some form in 1978. Glad you enjoyed the video
Excellent video Leslie and finishing with the Flying Scotsman at full steam in the cutting. Thanks Leslie. Regards Tom
