@@user-yv7dt5je1l I'm all for being able to protect ourselves and having a right to bear arms but as a NYer who rides the trains everyday I just can't help to think about how crazy everyone being able to carry guns on the trains would be. The average person is not a marksman so it would only be a matter of time before innocent bystanders will start catching strays. A bunch of us NYers armed on a packed NYC train scares me a bit. I'm not going to lie.
They are treating this like a new toy they have to play with. Utter clown show.

That's the point dufus, they trying to keep the subway safe. Plus alot stations have camera rooms were cops watch from they don't always stand by the entrance. You as a New Yorker should know this.
This is backwards cause 597 US 1 requires historical tradition of 1791. No sensitive place laws were even around then and can't be required now.
People are so dumb, obviously these will be installed side by side to the turn stile so that people can get scanned even if the jump, their body will be scanned

SLASHINGS are up, this past 3 days we’ve had 2 folks pushed on tracks, a cop getting their nose broken trying to stop a fare evader and TODAY a person slashed with a glass bottle at 59st / Columbus circle. SMH

How many useless new toys is the city going to get? The NYPD robot, the MTA turnstiles designed to prevent fare dodgers but actually makes it easier, and now this gun detector when people are getting pushed onto tracks. All of the R&D money into all of this garbage could have gone towards simple platform barriers that are used in metro systems all over the world.

this will ONLY be at the "Tourist trap" stations (14th/34th/42nd) type streets.
when this really needs to be in stations like flatbush/newkirk/chruch/ anything in east NY and A train.

When I was in high school, we weren't allowed to bring our phones into the school (this rule changed during my second year). However, during those years, students thought up clever ways to sneak their phones into the school. One way I remember them doing so, was to slip their phones inside their shoes and slide them underneath the metal detectors as they walked through..
My point is, have the NYPD thought of *EVERYTHING* to prevent weapons from entering the subways? If not, this may not be 100% failproof.
Also, let's not forget that guns aren't the *only* weapons that criminals bring into the subways. Will those detectors be able to identify all forms of weaponry? Will there be railing/walls installed to prevent people from being pushed onto the tracks?

Who is going to monitor every station in nyc? Because if they had the personal to have them post in every station there would be no crime in the sunway system . Plus metal detector without arm agents is as good as the way is now .

They have knight scope robots and they’re too stupid to deploy them! They have the ability to detect guns and facial recognition for criminals. Those gun detectors are certainly going to protect you from getting shoved off the platform onto the tracks and the oncoming train.

If you pass thru quickly the detector will miss it. Nothing is fool proof.
I can’t go through that, I have 2 machines in my body that is keeping me alive until I get a heart transplant. So uncle Adams and NYPD what are you doing for the people that has a defibrillator and other medical devices on them? We can’t go through a medal detector, make it make sense smh
