Man, I miss my Tivo. Had the first model. Big huge box. Very pricey. ($399.00 for the box, $299.00 for lifetime service.) But I HAD to have it, with it's 20 hours of "best quality" recordings! For the time, THAT WAS AMAZING! (unless you lost sat signal) I had to use it with my Directv. No antenna input. (or no dvr capabilities for it) As a matter of fact, I had to use an I.R. Blaster to make Tivo work with Directv. The only "streaming" I did, was when I hit the pause button and ran to the bathroom. Oh, and you HAD to have a landline phone connection for the whole thing to work. Quite a change in 16 years. My how they've changed. And I had NO internet. It worked wonderfully. Kids, nowadays! lol
Thank you for your video. It is the reason I'm still considering..... I would want Sling blue and Tivo. Was discouraged yesterday. Now I'm back at researching.
Ohh so I guess that means no recording of Netflix, thank you very much for the info your video is very helpful to me because of this video and your feedback my mind is made up... Team tivo! 😊
Hello i was thinking of buying the Tivo Bolt, are you able to get local channels with it or do you get it with sling and if you do get local channels is it via internet or coaxil or hd attenna in the home to receive it
ok seems you have an OTA connected to Tivo and have amazon and hulu netflix connected in tivo , and then i see you have roku on a different input - though is there a recommendation of which OTA .
Sweet and the 2 antennas you mention you have them both connected to Tivo Bolt some how one for UHF and VHF? or just using one via Coaxil, Im more concern for watching basic channels as i have all the streaming options New Apple Tv's, PS4's, Sling Tv and other apps sources and Comcast soon to rid of because only have to register tv providers but hopefully in my area i can get those basics channels to rid cable.
i did cord cutting prior except i couldn't get basic channels maybe my old antenna was not strong enough or sorts, so we went back to cable or torrent shows, but now that is being blocked. Then went back to cable.
nice video 2 questions how many TiVo devices can play at one time. I heard that you can only play two at a time. and what internet company do you use. that is a good rate thanks
I have a smart TV (Vizio) I have Netflix and amazon prime. should I just get tivo? I watch Chicago fire and on cable watch outrageous acts of science as well as HGTV/ cooking channels that's all I would need cable for. but it's expensive and I want to cut it after the super bowl
Nyle Omar voice recorder TV depending on how you want to do it you can buy a recording device period like a DVD recorder that connects to your TV. is one way to do it you could probably do it also with a VCR there's many ways you just have to think about ways to do
I to also had purchased the tivo bolt with the 1 year sub but it has run out fro several months now.. Im interested to know what kind of tivo subscription you have now that it has run out also.. thanks
Jorge Gomez thank you for your question. I recently moved to the "monthly" TiVo guide subscription while I consider my alternatives again. I think if TiVo offered the lifetime subscription for 50% off, I'd go for it. However, at its current price I believe it's not worth it, especially since it's not transferable. Realistically, it's a better option to be month to month so I can leave at anytime and the cost of the lifetime subscription is equally what 3 years of monthly payments would be. More and more TV options are coming out all the time, so I don't want to be locked in.
Ya pretty much the same here.. Last month Tivo had nice deals on lifetime refurbished models which would have been good deals if you didnt already own the tivo bolt they also had deals on transfers of lifetime to new bolts for people that had the older models with lifetime already.. There are also having specials on amazon on the Tivo OTA lifetime which they also had on they tivo website before but its only the Tivo OTA not the Tivo Bolt you would loose the 4k.. But do you even care about 4k because what in actuality would you actually get in 4k because im not 100% sure the Tivo bolt upscales to 4k even though most 4k TVs do upscale anyway and streaming in 4k is I think only on Netflix.. Well hope thats helpful.. Thanks
David, I've got a question regarding the TiVo OTA 1 TB. Is there a RUclips App that comes with the software and if so, can I acces my RUclips subscriptions and watch them on TV?
Is the walking dead on Sling TV an on-demand show? I am about to get rid of cable and the only reason I will be getting Sling would be for the Walking dead as well. However, I work every other Sunday so I won't be able to watch as soon as it comes on. Would it be worth it for me? I'm getting Hulu and already have Netflix and Amazon.
So you said once you buy the box you don't have any subscription services. But I'm seeing on the Tivo website it's $14,99 a month. Did I misunderstand you?
"Cutting the cord" is NOT expensive. I spent $685 for EVERYTHING I needed; a one-time-expense: 1. large outdoor antenna = $200 2. pre-amp - $65 3. 100' coax = $20 4. powered 4-way splitter = $35 5. 4-channel DVR - $230 6. 2 high-speed desktop switches = $30 7. 3 4K Fire Sticks = $75 7. extra 9' mast = $30 My cable TV bill was about $130/mo. I have added PHILO TV app to add the balance of channels I want @$20/mo. So, after less than 7 months, I'm saving $110 a month. So, I just put all of the items on a separate credit card and paid $110 a month on that card. It was a new card, so I had no interest for the first 6 months. That's NOT expensive. That IS a GREAT savings. Just saying...
I can't wait for google fibre to come to my area because i am stuck using comcast till then there are no good internet providers in my area and comcast charges for there 69.99 a month but i have no cablebox just internet
I pay on average $280 a month. We watch the same stuff day to day because there is nothing on. We buy or rent everything we usually watch. We’ve decided to make the jump and cut the cord. Apple TV here we come!
Good Luck, the adjustment period will likely be worth it. I still have the same setup as mentioned in this video... although we watch less and less TV.
Don't understand the point of TIVO. Yeah you get a free year but then you're paying for their service. Why not just go with a higher level PS VUE channel line up which provides most local channels (depending on your location), HBO, Showtime, all espn/Fox sports channels, Bein sports and ability to have cloud DVR included for 55 bucks per month. Add internet and you're at 85 per month with your internet. All of your TV's can get access as long as you have a PS4, fire tv or fire tv stick.
Steve Tucker He's talking about "legal" and easy to use options, for himself and his household. Some people just want to sit down and click to watch their content and not have to fiddle w/anything or worry that they'll get a "Cease & Desist" e-mail from their ISP!
You still have a subscrition to a service even if you are paid up ! Thats NOT cutting the cord IMO ! This is obviously a Tivo paid service announcement !
sweetbrandigirl LOL! You cracked me up! The TiVo subscription is for their guide service and if you don't want to use TiVo by all means dont. I have listed all of my reasons for selecting what I use in my setup many times. There are many ways to cut the cable/fios TV fees, I chose ariel antennas with guide service from TiVo... although just rolling the channels works too. No, I am not paid, endorced or otherwise compensated by TiVo.
It you have the xbox one s are x and a Samsung smart TV and if u have the internet you can download the spectrum tv App if u have the spectrum Internet u can download the spectrum TV app it free
George Johnson As this gentleman started MANY times, this solution, works for "his" solution! Not everyone feels comfortable using KODI! And please understand, it's not a "legit" option, everywhere in the world!
TIVO with (commercial skip feature) is great for OTA channels, then add Amazon or Netflix etc, for really cheap TV entertainment.

who's your internet provider?
Great info but you left out the physical hook up and from inputs to distributed outputs. I can't work unless you hook it up right?
Thanks for posting! Very helpful
With sling tv, are all the programs live as they are happening?
Ohh so I guess that means no recording of Netflix, thank you very much for the info your video is very helpful to me because of this video and your feedback my mind is made up... Team tivo! 😊
Love the video! But can you watch different channels at the same time with tivo and tivo mini
I'm currently looking into cutting the cord and wondering why did you need to put 2 antennas ?
Did this help with reception? one wasn't enough?
what internet service do you have? I would have to pay 87.77 to Comcast even after I would cut the cord plus the streaming cost.

Ok, that's was I thought.. Thanks for clarifying
Why are you not counting the cost of Sling as part of your monthly fees?
Thanks. I enjoy your videos!
Have you figured out a way to record, pause, or rewind Sling TV? Would be nice to use it on TiVo as well...
AKA Lone Star well Sling has rolled out their DVR function fifty hours for a extra five dollars a month.

So you pay for netflix, hulu, and sling... Why not just pay for a bundle service if you're going to pay for all that.
Shaker242
Or just get kodi... Pay $15 a month for vader streams and have everything you have now plus more. It even has live ppv events in hd.
Sean Prior how do u get vader?
"Augment" over and over

Do another for this year. This video is outdated.
Adrian I have been thinking it’s about time to update this.
not sure why you pay for any of that.. it's all free. as long as you have the internet.
Steve Tucker He's talking about "legal" and easy to use options, for himself and his household. Some people just want to sit down and click to watch their content and not have to fiddle w/anything or worry that they'll get a "Cease & Desist" e-mail from their ISP!
$50.00 + sling cost = $70.00 + 29.99 internet = $99.99
get set tv $20 plus internet way cheaper
