Nice video! I decided to go with Tablo DVR paired with Roku. The Tablo interface is very similar to the channel guide used with Comcast DVR so no learning curve for the slice interface on HD homerun.
the Hd Home run is good if your TV is way on the other side of the house and you don't want to run coax cable to it. Also for long cable runs and you loos signle. The HDhomerun and my #FreeSatelliteTV can be viewed on a smart TV
One HUGE downside to using the Live Channels DVR instead of the HDHomerun App DVR is Live Channels requires your DVR storage to be internal, which means any external drives need to be set up as "adoptable" storage. This locks the external drive to THAT android device and that device ONLY, so you cannot share shows across a network. With the HDHomerun TV app you can use it as normal external storage and see the shows (and even schedule DVR recordings) from other TV devices on the same network.
I had the older version HD homerun. Are used a Mac mini as my server which had a software program called EyeTV for recording over the year programs. My problem is is they did not upgrade I TV to work with HD homerun. If I buy the new HD homerun plus? What I TV or TV guide comes with it so you can program programs to be recorded for example blue bloods I want to record Blue Bloods every week.
Id recommend a tv tuner in your pc, nextpvr app to dvr, mcebuddy to remove commercials and plex to stream it around. fyi hdhomerun also works in plex... love my setup...
Will this setup work with a MiBox Android TV box? It doesn't have nougat - but it does have the Live Channels app. I guess I could also download the HDHomerun app. Does that app let you filter the channels like the Live Channels app? Thanks!
Don't use Android Live Channel's beta network TV tuner. It's buggy. It doesn't "let go" of tuners properly when you turn off the app, so you'll end up seeing "all tuners in use" if you try to watch TV. Instead, download the HD Homerun app, then go back into Live Channels app and choose the HD Homerun as the source for OTA channels.
I don't need to record tv. I have a cheap android box hooked to a roku TV. With a few programs I can watch pretty much anything, any time I want. Including live TV
Royce Scrivano In my experience with the cablecard version no. Reason being is the bandwidth useage on the internal Network is quite high and decoding takes place and the device watching so you can't decode on the phone and send it to the Chromecast and still have a useable stream. No mind you mine uses mpeg2 and the newer ones use h.264 so it is more wifi friendly
"You need a router." So you still need an internet connection coming into your house. Yeah, you can get a router to have wifi in your home, but a provider needs to go into that router. So that means I still need to get my internet through Comcast.

You keep missing what is important to millions of people & cord cutters! That is sports! NBA League Pass in my case! Will this device be good enough to stream 1080 quality NBA games via WiFi? What about reviewing the Tablo vs HD Homerun & forget about the cable crap just OTA & apps! Answer questions like how the various sticks or set top boxes fair streaming NBA games from League Pass & the minimum internet & WiFi speeds necessary to obtain void quality. Enough with all the video game talk (the get enough of that elsewhere)! It looks like Nvidia Shield may be the only box to get as it can go over Ethernet or WiFi, install Kodi & Live TV via OTA antenna & stream all Android APPS (NBA League Pass) & also be a Plex server. Let me know if this is correct or if I'm wrong & what streaming sticks would be a good compliment for 2nd & 3rd television sets? Also if Plex TV's guide is a better place to spend monthly guide fees on than Tablos guide fee? I'm trying to decide where to spend my money, next bang for my buck! Please help?! Let me know about the setup I'm contemplating purchasing: -OTA antenna (EagleStar Pro 53-6165VA HDTV) $69.99 CAD *I already have roof mounted* -Winegard Boost XT Pre-Amp LNA2 (thinking about using this mast mounted amplifier instead of home interior Pre-Amp to boost a few channels) -Nvidia Shield -Tablo Tuner USB -Amazon Fire Stick (other tv sets) Let me know what you think of my proposed set up! Thanks in advance!

Cool. I was looking for a simple setup like this with my Nvidia Shield TV, thanks!
I've been using their cablecard device since it came out. Silicondusts hardware also works with some smart TVs directly, PS3/4, Xbox, and PC.
Can you please explain how it works with Xbox?

I went with the Xbox One S and HD Homerun Quattro. DL the HdHR app on the One S and your set.
Does it keep recording even if the nvidia shield goes to sleep or should I change the setting on the nvidia shield to never go to sleep ? Thanks
will this work with an LG commercial 49" TV
Will it work with a Firestick or with Roku?
was that Jimmy Wong on the TV?
What about a Vizio smart TV such as the E700i-b3?
Were those channels you show in the background OTA or Internet channels?
Thanks very good. What if I want a DVR to record OTA channels? What would you recommend? the HDhomerun DVR ?

Chromecast compatible?

Greesh? It isn't that difficult to switch TV's to OTA
Dude, what happened to you hair?? Did you.... comb it???
RythmBoy Am I...am I not supposed to do that?
Joe Fedewa Joe will this interface well with Fire TV given that Amazon devices don't use full android in their devices?
There is an HDHomeRun app for the Amazon Appstore
doesn't work with Roku
MARCH 15, 2017 - WEDNESDAY.
... No extra devices needed on a Roku tv. One remote.
Thanks, but I'll save the $55-$116 and switch over. It's...NOT.....that.. . DIFFICULT.
If it's so easy why is everybody going crazy and why aren't you a millionaire?

You can still have a router and use it without connecting to an ISP. The HDhomerun will work, youtube will not.
What the hell is an android tv ?
