      @Dave Carter The thing is, leaving them unlocked caused the most chaos. The homeowners closed and locked their gates, with their vehicles inside, using the locks to which they had no keys. The next day started very badly for them when they were unable to leave for work.

    Something about the padlocks that may be more of a problem than they realized. The locks appear to be standard locks available from any hardware store. If somebody decided to go and buy some locks and simply replace theirs, leaving them open, then Meggitt would never know they locked themselves out when they left that night. Of course that somebody would have the keys to all the locks.

    • @Jester-Riddle
      @Jester-Riddle 2 года назад +2

      I got the impression that the locks required a key to lock, so that shouldn't be a problem as it would immediately be noticed on trying to lock up. However, yours is a fair observation ... (especially if I am incorrect about keys being needed to lock them !).

Funny how nice the workmen are be it Line painters, Dumper Drivers or Robot Lawnmower Drivers. Security and Police seem to like dictating to the public what to do and need to snap out of it. Another issue with those open locks on the gate is when someone comes along and replaces the lock with their own...same make, same model, weathered in the same way. If I was a commercial property crim, I'd keep industrial locks out in the weather, just waiting for these replacement opportunities. All you need is a sufficiently lazy security outfit, like this one. These guys then lock it up at the end of the day, with the crim's (my) own lock. At the end of the job, I put their lock back. Until they check their cameras, they might not even know they've been compromised.

    When they leave the padlocks like that, day obe you see it and nip down the shops and bye one the same. Day two you go and replace theirs with yours. That night you go down and open up the gates as you have the key and rob the place blind. Piss poor security.
