You have to wonder, though, why CC would even give the "Your mattress" line - it sounds like she knows / suspects Niles is into her - otherwise why would she used "I'd never sleep with you" as an insult?

Sometimes she jokes that she "gets around" and other times he jokes that she never gets any.
I love Niles. This sitcom never got the attention it deserved. Grandma Yetta, Niles....they were hits.
I love when grandma Yetta was petting CCs sweater for an entire episode cause she thought it was Chester 😂
One of my all-time favorite lines was when CC was insulting Fran's dress saying:
"Oh I wouldn't be caught dead in that dress!"
Nials: "you'd have to be dead 4 months to fit into it."

Ladies and Gentlemen, boys and girls, you have just bore witness to some of the best burns and thrown shade in all of sitcom history!
My favourite Niles moment is when he absolutely shreds Maxwell about being so annoyingly indecisive about Fran, shaking him and throwing him on the couch after yelling in his face, lol.
And I feel like his rant in season 5 "I am so sick of this year after year..." was probably a nod to what critics of the show must have been saying by then! Though I also think part of why it was so important to Niles was - Maxwell getting married = Niles has CC all to himself.

The one scene between these two that always stuck with me, was CC screaming "I want to DIE!", and Niles saying "There there, now don't go doing anything drastic", while slipping a meat cleaver into her purse.
It was "don't do anything rash."
I almost forgot about that one 😂 one of my top ten along with the kissing contest episode part where she said is my mental health just a game to you? 🔥🔥🔥

@@bbuuttercupp I have to think that that wasn't even a case of the joke being intended to remain unsaid, he just had to bite down on the coat in order to stay in character and not crack up on the spot.
Also when she talks about Niles having a heart attack and she said, "Don't make me get ugly" to get him to say something and was worried when he didn't.

I viewers pin Fran as the style icon of the show, but I think CC 's outfits were just as gorgeous. Her work clothes were treś chic, she pulled off the shoulder pads, pantsuits and long skirts beautifully.

Oftentimes, you can see Fran struggle not to. I think it comes more easily for Charles (Shaughnessy) because he's British. They're naturally tight lipped.

I always thought Maxwell was fully aware of what kind of person CC was and that she was only interested in him for his looks and money. However he also needs her as a business partner and so feels obligated to treat her civilly and courteously. And so he allowed Niles to be his mouthpiece and say the things he can’t

@@giovannigiovanni.7220 It was...sort of. We all saw it coming way early on...but they didn't really do anything with it because they wanted to focus on Maxwell and Fran. When the show was about to get the axe, they didn't want to leave it hanging and pushed it. It could've been ended better with an extra season, but they put it off too long and lost what time they thought they had.

The lag time between, hearing the joke, realizing it's a joke, and the 'NO' is amazing.
Agreed! Her delayed delivery there was flawless. Being a good "straight man" in comedy is harder and more rare, IMO. It was Daniel Davis AND Lauren Lane who made Niles so funny. And I would STILL watch a spin-off of CC and Niles!
