I agree. 😀 When I listen to the original version on the soundtrack I always think something is missing in the chorus. So I just start humming to fill in between the "Sugar high" vocals 🤣
True but the lyrics to the soundtrack make more sense if you’re just listening to the song by itself bc it’s about a girl he likes. This is a super edited version
You feel her stage fright , and she’s so nervous. But then it’s like the good days..she looks out and doesn’t see statues with phones. She realises everyone’s having fun and finally sings her heart out like nobody can hear her ..and she rocks out….sugar fucking high ✨
Yep. Grew up in the 90s. No cell phones, no social media. Just great music and films. Going to school with friends all week planning the weekend. Great times.
One of my favorite moments in a movie full of favorite moments. I love how you can absolutely see exactly how Gina's feeling WHILE Renee's doing a fantastic job on the vocals (which, okay, probably redubbed, but I'm guessing they also sang in shot for the sync).
She served me beer just one or two years before this movie. She was a waitress as Sugar's in Austin, TX. Then went on to perform "Sugar High." There's a sugar themed trend here! It's surreal to know that I used to tip Renée Zellweger. Crazy 90s!
Love this movie so much. Brings me back to the 90s this scene still makes me emotional. There’s so much emotion in her performance that you can feel it
I grew up watching this when I was probably like 12-13, roughly when this came out, watched it all the time. I actually think Rene Zellweger has a great voice for this, she is actually singing this right? Anyone else grow up watching this?
I was 11-ish. And I'm sure I watched it then, but was 18-19 before I watched it again and appreciated it's full worth. Now at 37, I celebrate each Rex Manning Day and tell my boyfriend how my mood is by telling him what character I most feel like that day.
I absolutely love this movie, I was a lil too young when it first came out, I prb didn't see this til about '01 or '02 when I would have been about 14-15. I remember seeing it late at night on encore, and boy oh boy did it play on encore a lot.. I found Reality Bites the same way, n a lot of other good 'coming of age in the 90's' kinda flicks.. This one is really special though, one of those movies I could always throw on and enjoy it.
working in any small business can be fun if the owner is chill and not greedy, sadly these businesses often struggle, but working at one when you're young is an amazing experience
I actually worked at a Tower Records in the 90's and it was pretty fun. The employees were exactly like they are in the movie, but the only reason I quit was because of the manager. They let us play any kind of music we wanted so that was awesome!!! I got written up for playing the music too loud twice. We had smoke breaks, a patio area and just walked around the store with a broom pretending to work. The customers were awesome and knew us by name. We had a Weinershnitzel next door so the store stunk of chili cheese dogs, fries, burgers and onions all the time. Thus making us all hungry all the time.😆😆👍👍
My memories of watching this movie for the first time was when I was spending the night at a friend's house. She didn't know it at the time but I was 4 months pregnant (this was 8 years ago and it was my first child). I thought that this movie was weird but cool. Great memories.
the 90s were the best, MTV was coming of age, drugs were theoretically not addictive. The music was only getting better by the day, FM radio ruled the roost. And no one knew what an MP3 player was yet. Does anyone notice that Renee Zellweger is singing distinctly Different lyrics than the original Coyote Shivers version.
Did anybody search up sugar high on RUclips and find this? Because when I was trying to search up sugar high by Scott Frenzel, this showed up and I clicked on it, but it’s actually pretty good song 🎧 I love it!
The original lyrics are better but it's criminal that there's no studio recording with Renée; she fucking makes this song whole. And it's honestly this bands only good song IMO.
They just don't make movies like this anymore. Im not 1 of those that say all of today's stuff sux because it doesn't but idk the 80's 90's was just different. Movies like goodies, sandlot, stand by me, breakfast club, etc.... I haven't seen a movie like that in the 2000's
Had they included Renee Zellweger's part on the album release, it would won SONG OF THE YEAR AWARD 1995.
It's what made the song worth listening to
@@SOULS_INKPEN : word.
I'm here exactly because spotify doesn't have a bersion with Renee's part. @@SOULS_INKPEN

Her voice in this song is amazing !!!
i actually like this version better than the original
@@taniarodriguez609 me too !!

@@taniarodriguez609 Me too. She has an amazing voice and this movie ROCKED!👋👋
I once wished this version was on the soundtrack, but the original is great in it's own right.
I wouldn't mind having this version in the soundtrack. The backing vocal gives a nice touch to it.
I agree. 😀 When I listen to the original version on the soundtrack I always think something is missing in the chorus. So I just start humming to fill in between the "Sugar high" vocals 🤣
Same mate

Knowing Coyote Shivers he probably threw a big tantrum so they only put the original on the soundtrack.
Great film, great sound track, great cast. A superb time this era
Superb
Agreed
gostei especialmente pela presença da minha deusa Renée Zellweger
@@joseoscarazevedolopes she is beautiful
The cast is just crazy.
So, we all agree the 90's was the best generation to grow up in??!
Nah the 80s had cocaine
It was the 80's
I think 90's is pretty evident. Nirvana and grunge alone made it worth it.
Yes
Early 80’s baby, so I gotta say 80s and 90s decades
I feel so lucky that I grew up in the 90s. We had the best movies.
This deserves a Criterion Collection along with Pump Up the Volume, Heathers and Mallrats.
She plays that moment PERFECTLY!!!!
You feel her stage fright , and she’s so nervous. But then it’s like the good days..she looks out and doesn’t see statues with phones. She realises everyone’s having fun and finally sings her heart out like nobody can hear her ..and she rocks out….sugar fucking high ✨

Love the song too.

When i was a teen a got 1 week school suspended because of this movie... i glued quarters in the school entrance!! 😆😆😆😆
You're a hero
I hope you told the principle thst you dont feel the need to explain your art to anyone.
Principle:what made you think to glue quarters to the floor?
(Hopefully)You:who knows where thoughts come from, they just appear
How cool Reneè in this scene ?! So dope
one of my favorites films when i was young
The song COULD have won SONG OF THE YEAR AWARD if they had Renee on the album release.

Renee could’ve had a grunge career.
She would have been cute doing it
Renee in her prime. What a fn body.
I seriously have been striving to achieve a moment like this for like 30 something years now! I Fuckin' love this movie!!!
They will never come unless you create them.
i love you Renée Zellweger. my eternal goddess
''may I service you?'' LOL, best line !
I think it's great how rene Zellweger has a far superior singing voice to the actual lead singer 👨🎤 🎤
Aww I love this movie and track! Thanks for posting!
I blame this movie for making me think working in a record store would be fun (it wasn't).

I remember renting this from Blockbuster. Excellent movie.
Among this then-young cast, you can see Renee had something really special that took her as far as she has gone so far.
She got Jerry Maguire after this movie...
Simply awesome
The biggest tragedy in Hollywood is not putting this version on the soundtrack
