The movie was about "cruising" and early rock and roll culture in that time period. You guys have to check it out, cruising was just another word for hanging out, driving around and doing nothing. Apparently a universal activity for all young people.
Lowrider/cruising culture will always be a West Coast staple, especially in Cali. Btw, the inspiration behind this video is the Arnold Schwarzenegger movie Total Recall.
I grew up in the 80's and 90's on the east coast in a beach town. There weren't a lot of hydraulics on cars where I was but subwoofers were huge; especially in trucks and SUV's like Blazers and Tacoma's. Alpine's and Fosgate's were everywhere. I had two 12" Fosgate's in a ported box with a California Baja 1000 watt on for each sub in the trunk of an Oldsmobile that I put in a custom box when I got a Mazda B3000 truck. Great memories riding around the beach thumping from spot to spot.
I had all of too shorts cassettes going back to Born to Mack. As a kid growing up in Detroit I didn’t know anyone else who listened to him, but I thought he was pretty funny and his beats were tight.
