Love your content! I'm still adjusting to botanical gels but I went from never doing wash n gos to feeling confident I will get at least 3 days out of it. I do find it hard to upkeep with my workout, routine.
Thanks for sharing your experience! A few people that I know that workout heavily. I believe most may wash their hair twice a week because they sweat so much and sweat out their style of the they frequent the gym a lot. I also seen some use stronger topper gels and more of it to hold their wash and go after a long workout. And some even wear a hair scarf to the gym to help keep the hair in place and less frizzy.
Thanks for this video/ info very helpful. I figured out how to dry all of my hair under the hood dryer (honestly too relax to do hand dryer🤦🏻♀️). Anywho, I switch to cool (about 15-20 minutes) go back and forth hot/ warm/ cool (which ever is needed) and I’m usually dry my entire head in 45-1hr.
Thank you for sharing your experience! I start off with low heat sometimes cool depending on what I may doing that day. Then I work up to hot. If I get too hot under the hooded dryer I switch to cool for a little bit. No matter how long I stay under the hooded dryer my hair in the back won’t dry (high density problems lol). I end up having to use my hand held dryer for the back and any pieces that stick out from the hooded dryer
Please do and thank you! 💕 Let me know how it works for you. It really helped me to define my roots. Sometimes closing my eyes also helps me to feel the curls clumping as well.
Righttt natural hair is so versatile. A good haircut not only helps me achieve a successful wash day but it really helps boost my confidence as well. You can’t tell me nothing when I have a fresh haircut 😌💁🏽♀️
I’m trying to learn the 30 day detox method, but I live in a humid environment. I find a lot of the gels to not hold my curls enough. I also had very dry and frizzy hair, which later helped me realized I needed a protein treatment - apogee 2 step. I’m hoping my next wash day - I can get back on the botanical journey. It seems to have given me too much moisture- being a higher porosity hair type. Thus I need a better balance. I also need to still incorporate deep conditioning due to my highly porous porosity. Great video!!!
@Shal Perk, I too live in a humid environment and the only topper gel I’ve found to give me the hold and longevity I need is Ecoslay Jello Shot. UFD and ICH gives me beautiful results but by day 3 it’s looking like an Afro and it’s snowing! UFD and Jello Shot gives me the 7 days I desire with curls still looking good.
I too have med-high porosity hair and have to be very strategic with the products I use as a result - esp. in the warmer, humid months. So I cannot use UFD in the summer b/c the new formula has glycerin as the 2nd ingredient - a definite no-no.
Thank you so much for sharing your experience. I know a lot of folks that have ditched base gels like UFD because they live in a humid area. They may just use gels that are considered topper gels. Have you paired any combos with gels that claim to be anti humidity?
You got this! Definitely allow yourself grace as you practice. It took me about two months or 8 washes to feel entirely confident in my wash day and wash and go technique. And I’m still learning new things now almost two years into my simplified routine.
I tie it in the back with my hair sticking out the bottom of it. Then I wrap it around and tie it in the front. This way the front of my hair remains flat and my hair isn’t molded to the front like the pineapple method. Not sure if that is great explanation but I hope that helps. Its probably easier to see it than me explaining it. I may film a night time routine when my schedule frees up for the people that need the visual.
Quality products especially shampoo and conditioner do make a huge difference because they are the foundation to a successful styled results but also long term health and hydration. They also highly concentrated and don’t require as much product as I used to think I needed. However, technique is also extremely important. Quality products can only do so much if you don’t use them properly. There are a few products that I know of that perform decently without the heavy price tag that most quality products come with.
@@Neesha242 I can look into some brands and I’ll report back once I try them out. Off of the top of my head, Nature’s Little Secret (love their shampoo and none of their conditioners have Shea butter which is a notorious heavy butter), Curl Mix (heard amazing things about the whole line but I haven’t tried it), Flora and Curl (I heard they have a great gel not sure about the shampoos or conditioners) and Kinky Curly (their clarifying shampoo, detangler and stylers work well) offer some great options at a lower price point. I would just make sure the first five ingredients aren’t oils or heavy butters so you don’t experience a lot of build up.
I found your channel trying to find none oil stylers! This is the first time I have ever heard of botanical gels!! I am definitely going to try! I did notice during the video that you don’t pre-poo. Is there a reason for that??
Thank you so much for watching! Prepooing is an optional step. I only prepoo if I have neglected my hair, rocking a fro or taking out a protective style. Prepooing is not needed most times because I never allow my hair to get dehydrated (Aka washing weekly) causing it to severely tangle on itself. Plus, prepooing makes your shampoo work twice as hard to cleanse your hair because you coated it in a product right before cleansing. It makes you use more shampoo and essentially wasting your money if it is not needed.
@@itstruedestiny you are so welcome!! And wow!! Thank for the insight and for responding and being so willing to answer my questions! I’m still trying to make it work on this hair journey❤️

Hello Destiny! Thank you for sharing all the information concerning your natural hair. My hair curl type is like yours, but much less thin. You mentioned that you might be able to help find a natural hair stylist in my area. Is that offer still good? I need help. 😞
@@itstruedestiny Thank you kindly! Louisville, KY or Lexington, KY. I live in Fort, Knox. Elizabethtown, KY is close by too. I'm tired of gummy caked down hair. 😫 I just ordered Melanin Hair Set. When it comes to a cream for lco or loc method, do you prefer a curl cream or creme gel for definition as I'm finding it so hard to keep hair defined and naturally hold shiny curls x
I don’t follow the loc or lco method. I don’t use oil on my hair at all for the last two years. I talk about it in my two year update video. I don’t use curl creams or cream gels because they do not help me achieve definition. I usually reach for botanical gels. My favorites are listed in my shop which is linked in the description.
So I’m on my journey of using only botanical gels, I just recently purchased the i create hold, does kinky curly custard pair with that and I don’t have a hooded drier would my dyson work instead of hair drying?
It just depends. It is about your preference in styling. Does those two gels give you your desired result? Personally I just don’t like to scoop product out in a jar because I do the majority of my styling in the shower. It just gets messy and I could potentially contaminate a product like Kinky Curly. Does using the Dyson give you your desired result? Personally I like the hang time I get with my hooded dryer but that’s my personal preference. Plus I’m a lazy natural at the core. I just don’t like the arm workout with a hand held dryer lol. If you are using a Dyson, I would just make sure to use the diffuser attachment. Using a handheld dryer may contribute to a little more frizz than a hooded dryer but you may like the little added volume. It just depends on what you want. I hope this helps 💕
This is motivation for me to get my wash day started. Been putting it off for a few hours now. That curly magic....don't know what I'd do without it!
You got it! Wishing you a relaxing wash day. 💕 ikr I love me some Curly Magic
