Thank you for preaching the importance of the wash process 🙏🏾 there's not enough of us out here talking about the power of S&C and how styling starts with your wash day routine. Great video sis!
Heyyy! This video is about to go up 🔥 so many great tips, super detailed indeed. I haven’t been bold enough to try anything other than UFD Curly Magic for a base gel for my thick hair. Great techniques✨
Cannot tell you how ecstatic I am to have found your channel! I have high porosity hair and have desperately been waiting for someone to address my unique concerns re holding onto moisture/hydration without a leave-in/butter/oil. The fact you mentioned UFD and ICH have oils in them and help the hair hold onto water makes so much sense!
I’m so glad you found my channel! Welcome to my little corner of the internet. I plan on making more natural hair content soon especially centering around hydrated wash and go hair.
Thank you for watching! I got you! My biggest tip is making sure you are emulsifying the product A LOT and applying it on soaking wet hair. I learned through watching stylists that I was raking way too much. I needed to incorporate a lot more smoothing during the application process.
Looking at you and some others I think I need to smooth even more than I already do and I need to be open to layering products because I very much so love a one product and go.
Yes smoothing is key! I realized I was raking my hair way too much. I used to be a one and done person as well until the summer hit. I’ll definitely switch back to one and done wash and go in the colder months. This humidity is no joke this year lol
Very pretty WnG!💜 So similar to my own, and our techniques are also about the same. I don't live in a humid area so I can use UFD as a one-and-done. I learned mine from Albena years ago, her channel is Embrace Natural Beauty, but I also follow the newer stylists.
I haven’t been following her page for long but I love her content. Her voice is so soothing and I love how she teaches. I can only get away with just UFD in the winter months but never in the summer lol.
@@itstruedestiny We have a few humid days during summer, and I will use ICH on those days. So far this summer I haven't used it, and last summer I think I used it maybe three times.
I love this. I’m going to try using the inner sense with UFD and the Ouidad. I’ve been using just UGD and Ouidad and feel like it’s not clumping my curls enough. But it could be the way that I’m raking too far along in the process and disturbing the clumps. This is certainly a learning curve.
I use this combo (well trio 🤔) as well !! I actually use the stronger hold (red label) ouidad gel, but it's awesome to see someone else do the same 🤗 high density girls UNITE lol
@@Realist79 I would have had to try the original version to properly answer your question. The product does however do what I need it to do, which is add extra protection from the current elements. I really only use a small amount as a tertiary topper with my base and topper gels.
For me, it does. That’s the reason I only use a little bit for section to get the benefits without making my wash and go super crunchy which I’m personally not a fan of.
Yesss high density girls unite! I love to see it. I was at the salon a few months ago and they were shocked that my hair was not dry after sitting under the hooded dryer for almost two hours. I had to tell them I usually go in with a handheld dryer after sitting underneath the hooded dryer. High density isn’t a joke lol.
Thank you for watching! I have a list of my favorites in the description I am always updating with quality products. I have a few more products on my to do list to experiment with in the next few months. Can’t wait to share them with y’all!
We have very different hair types (I’m a super coarse super dense loose curly) but I’ve also been on this no oil no butter high quality product journey, and my hair has changed so much for the better. I’m a cosmetologist but listen not all cosmetologists are created equal! I don’t know nearly enough to be a specialist, esp because cosmetology schools tend to neglect textured hair education or their education is bad (loc method, no shampoo, etc). I’ve been looking for a styling routine for when I go to the Philippines this summer, and I may have to try this! I just need to pick up ouidad. My issue is also that I cannot stop touching my hair. I’m autistic and my most natural stim is touching my hair 😭 I’ve done it my whole life and it like is physically difficult to not do it
Omg hi! I love your makeup content on Instagram. I am Black Girls Curls touched on haircare in the summer not too long ago and talked a bit more in depth about anti humidity gels. I feel like the Ouidad gel is the most accessible one for me personally. Plus, Ulta usually has a sale on it every now and then.
I need to know how you sleep in wash and go’s😩. I started to wash my hair weekly and abandon oils and butters about 8 months ago and my wash and gos are amazing the night before the next day the it’s all misshapen an all over the place🥲 I don’t know what I’m doing wrong they start off almost exactly like yours but the next day it’s ruined already I have been using the method of putting your hair into a puff using a silk scarf but I think it’s causing my hair to stay stuck in that position once I take it off lol any tips to stop this would be helpful
I absolutely understand what you’re saying. Try wearing your scarf the other way instead of a pineapple so the roots are able to stay flat. In the morning, you should be able to do a little fluff in the morning. Some stylists recommend using a buff. You can probably buy one on Amazon. I wear a bonnet sometimes when I’m too lazy to wear my scarf. If you do wear a scarf we’re your hair fills up the entire bonnet. For ex if you have short hair don’t wear an xl bonnet. It gives the hair move to move around and get “stuck” upwards. Hope this helps 💕
I have had several hair cuts since then but I have been natural since 2016. I started growing my relaxed hair out in 2014. I have a mini natural hair journey Short video on my channel.
Nope! It is not needed with a diffuser attachment which allows for the hair to dry without direct heat (not pictured in the video). I plan to do a more in depth tutorial in the next few weeks where I break down how to diffuse without compromising definition.
@@itstruedestiny that would be perfect! I’m still working on perfecting my wash and go. I have 2 questions. 1) do you do your wash and go in the shower most of the time? 2)When you’re completely done w/ your wash and go, do you give it a final shake?
Idk what I’m doing wrong but my wash and go ALWAYS comes out hard. I use UFD and ICH. Do I just need to use more water?? Or less of one of the two products?? Heeelp 😭
Technically you want somewhat of a gel cast for style longevity but I’m with you. I don’t necessarily care for hard crunchy wash and gos. I use a lot of water when styling. I probably don’t use as much ICH as I seen other stylists and creators use. Also, these products may not be for you and your hair preferences. You may need to look for another product combo that gives you consistent results that you love. I love a good wash and go with the Doux Mousse Def in the colder months. It gives me a nice soft-medium hold with a quick dry time and no crunch.
It definitely is! The majority of gels I’m using are botanical gels which helps with hydration and doesn’t lead to buildup. The gels I’m using are formulated with high quality ingredients and curls in mind. Eco tends to cause build up and scalp irritation. It doesn’t offer lasting hold. It is not formulated with quality ingredients at all. Literally trash. I believe there was a class action lawsuit a few years ago surrounding the ingredients and possible links to cancer. Not to mention the owners of eco are extremely racist and misogynistic.
That’s understandable! I love a good one product wash and go but it truly doesn’t add as much time as you think. Styling doesn’t take longer than 25ish minutes.
Literally the answer is YES YES YES to every single video idea you asked us if we wanted!!! Please give it to ussss!

I tried a few but the amount you get in UFD for the price can’t be beat!
Yes hair holding onto water 💦 just bought this dryer. Destiny you’re the GOAT in this space. Such a great teacher too.
Thank you so much Kia! I hope you love the dryer as much as I do.

I tried this combo (UFD-ICH-ouidad) this past wash day......... GIIRRRLLLLLLL!!! You might have given me my new styling trio!
Ayeee! I learned from the best. That makes me so happy! 😆👏🏾

It is definitely a learning curve! The innersense is thicker and could probably help the curls naturally clump together.
Interesting how you use the Ouidad last. I use that between the UFD and the ICH since the ICH is thicker so the ICH is my final topper
That’s very interesting. I may have to try that!
I’m interested in seeing your entire wash & go in 2 hrs. Do you have that video up already?
Editing it now!
PERFECT, can’t wait to watch it!!!
Found this because your ‘30 Day Hair Detox- Week 0’ video from 10 months ago was randomly recommended to me.
Thank you for sharing your journey!
I think you are confusing me with @Deidreforever. I love her content though! We have collaborated in the past.

Do the OUIDAD strong hold give a strong hold?

I always thought gels were bad for our hair. 🤔🤔

Love your curls!! What moisturizing deep conditioners do you use ? For low porosity
I uploaded a review of the only deep conditioner that I use. It should be in my natural hair playlist.
Thanks for the reply! I found it & I already use that one. I’m hoping it’s ok to use frequently on low porosity, since it’s not a balancing one.
Love the video !! What shampoo and conditioner did you use ?
It depends on what condition my hair and scalp are on that given wash day. All my favorites are linked in the description box. ❤️
Just found you and glad I did! I’m subscribed!
Welcome to the channel! 💕
I use 2 gels the Uncle Funky's and the Innersense, was looking at the Ouidad, but didn't buy it
I find that it really helps with the humidity here in the south. It is just too muggy 😩😭
Wait so no mousse or leave in? Omg I am trying this ASAP
