I'm a complete chess novice but Danya and these speedruns have for sure been rubbing off on me. Things like looking at what squares are freed after an opponent's move and dislodging pieces are things I've begun incorporating in my games. Thanks Danya!
Dropping some serious opening knowledge here with a long line from the 3rd or 4th most played continuation culminating in a move (Rxf2) that isn't even in the database! Much appreciated. I think Daniel is hesitant to go in-depth re: openings but the little strategic titbits and specific lines are often the most useful parts for me. I'd love to hear more like this in future videos.
Im not great at chess and tilt a lot so quite often it happens that I want to just stop playing. Watching your channel is probably the only reason I havent quit at all. While watching I find myself inspired to continue playing despite the grueling difficulty and constant tilting. Thanks a lot Sensei.

at 7:58 we can play dxe5, Rxd2 (queen sac), exf6 (attack the queen) and eventually Bxd2 etc. We will have a rook, horse and a pawn for the queen and a maasive attack on black's king. And not to mention a pawn two squares away from queening. Isn't that an interesting and a chaotic line!!?

Black was overrated in my opinion, weak opening knowledge, did nothing about the threat of smashing up the kingside and that’s it, these 2 mistakes cost him the game.
@@stg1325 Please don’t put your words in my mouth, I don’t think I could have crushed him so easily but after analyzing the game I see that his opening preparation is really weak, he was out of theory so early in his main-line (I know my Sicilian really well) and everyone knows weakening the king is never good unless you have some big idea (this guy didn’t). It’s something beginners learn at their first lesson that you shouldn’t allow your kingside pawns to be smashed like that.

As a person who doesn’t really play chess (I have a very basic understanding) but played fighting games: I appreciate your play and commentary. You explain options, set ups and possible solutions to problems. In fighting games we do frame data, Good responses to certain things good buttons and bad ones. I hope you explain your thoughts more..and ways to approach things.. and why you choose the options you do. If you still competitive, don’t give away too much.🤣 But if you playing just to play..or play with a friend, I think you can help people A LOT..
Danya is 'competitive' in the sense that he occasionally still plays in official tournaments and is ranked in the top 200 in the world but his main occupation is teaching and streaming. And in these lessons he does, there is no chance of "giving anything away." He is not explaining anything that anyone who is at a high enough level to compete with him doesn't already know.
@@r123554 Yes, this. The biggest thing that competitive chess players keep secret is specific opening lines so that they can be more prepared than their potential opponents in them, anyone they face is more than capable of working out the logic of a move an thinking ahead.

But his opening preparation for serious tournaments would be way more in depth than the discussions about openings Danya does here, and most of what Danya discusses in these videos are patterns or methods of thinking that any serious opponent of his would already know. These videos are targeted towards amateurs, mostly beginner or intermediate. Danya vastly outmatches anyone who isn't a grandmaster. As in, he could beat any non-master blindfolded with a quarter of their time on his clock. That claim is literal, not an exaggeration.
There’s an earlier idea of N-b5 (threatening to fork on c7) followed by the sac c5, to undermine white’s center, and after white takes dxc, the knight on b6 drops back to d7 & will pick off the pawn on e5 (or perhaps the doubled pawn on c5). Would love to see what Danny says about this undermining maneuver; is it sound?

I can't speak for Danya, but what works for me is reading chess books, preferably those that cover the games of past masters - e.g. Irving Chernev's book Logical Chess. If you like to watch RUclips videos, check out the lectures on Saint Louis' Chess Club
…Bb4 is an alternative to …Be7, as it makes d4-d5 more difficult to achieve (Bortnik line). The good think about the Alekhine is that most players at my level will not play often against it,p. Often they will begin to think at move 2.
You said the c4 pawn is a center pawn.. Are the c and f pawns considered "center" pawns? I've always wondered what is considered a flank pawn.. I know it's a,b,g + h but wasn't sure if c and f were included.
Can’t speak on this conclusively but both the c and f pawns can control some central squares, and they can also become center pawns when capturing. So I don’t believe they’re considered center pawns per se but they can either be more part of a flank or more the center depending on what happens in the game. Probably not the most useful answer, but anyway 😂
I will learn the four pawns attack against the Alekhine because it looks good. But caro kann advance feels more solid over the fantasy(Maroczy) variation so I'll keep that, and I play the Moscow, Canal attack, or the Rossolimo against the Sicilian because of the Spanish game familiarity. Which means I also need the Hyperaccelerated Fianchetto and Kramnik Sicilians as well. I do get the the early d4 in the Marshall and short circuiting some Sicilian theory but I get a great deal of enjoyment out of analyzing my games and pulling up games from the greatest chess players 10 moves deep. That's not gonna happen with the Smith Morra. Great players just don't play the Smith Morra.
Not at all, they’re completely fine openings. But if you don’t know what you’re doing then of course you find yourself in trouble at some point haha. Danya I believe doesn’t suggest the Sicilian until a player is fairly high rated because it can lead to complex positions, and as for the Caro-Kann just know enough theory for whatever your level is(exchange variation and advance variation main line is pretty popular for example)
Anyone under 2000 doesn't have enough understanding to play sicilian. Same goes for grunfeld against d4 for example. Caro is much simpler once you learn advance and exchange variations.

At higher levels it's too risky and hard to play with high precision but for average player its fine if you learn the mainlines
