Danya: we can play Be2 and sacrifice a pawn for development Me, planning to play Be2 and forgetting that the c4 pawn was hanging: yes, yes, a sacrifice, exactly
Really wish this series would never end. I learn so much from these videos. Learning the concepts are good and all but seeing them in action in games really do hammer the points home.
It will be an end of an era, but after he finishes this, he said he wants to do much more and different format content, so we will still be getting more from Danya! Just not the speedrun
@@brucewayne2184 I think the problem is as you get to real high ratings in rapid, you start to see a lot more computer cheaters, so it's difficult to keep the speed run going, especially in the 10 minute format
Love this series. The videos are slowly dwindling down but no one comes close to Your natural ability to break down every move in a understandable manner! Keep up the Great content
I saw it too and I thought it probably wasn't the best move because the best move was to continue attacking on the queen side. Sometimes it is better to ignore tactics and go for strategical advantage. But not this time though.
2:23 9...Bg4 here isn't theory! It's a legitimate move after 8...e6 9.Nf3, but not after 8...Qd7 9.Nf3 as in the game here, where it's a blunder: without the pawn on e6 protecting d5, 10.d5 is already crushing for white.
Yes with the very hard to see point 10...BXf3 11 e6!! fe 12 QXf3 ed 13 cd Ne5 14 Qe4 followed by 15 Bb5 if the knight moves from e5 (or 15 Nb5 if Black protects the knight with ...Qd6). If the knight moves to some square other than e5 on move 13 then just 14 O-O-O with a crushing attack for the pawn.
@@ElGnomoCuliao And from what perspective are you coming at this from? Because he simply missed Ng5. Other than that, his opponent is the one who defended far better than the previous ones. He was still playing defensively the entire game though and only got counterplay towards the end with Bg5. Danya played like a GM the entire match. Not up to the standards he sets for himself but as a GM regardless
Another giant bowl of pasta, another massively excellent lesson from Sensei. Just one minor note: these videos have gotten very quiet lately! Anyway, thank you as always!
I know one guy who plays it against GM. Here in my country, he's even known for it lol. But unfortunatly, they all avoid it by playing d4. btw MVL is some of this "GM"
Oleksandr Bortnyk uses it pretty often. (And a lot of other exciting openings, for example he uses accelerated panov attack against caro-kann). He's very sharp tactical player, so the positions quickly becam complicated.
White can easily secure a small stable advantage with many easy lines or can essentially refute it with the 4 pawns attack or the mainline with some more knowledge, so more GMs playing it would essentially just mean more losses for them
Hey Daniel, I got a question for you: what game duration would you recommend to start with for a beginner? I used to play 10 mins and got stuck in 700 elo, then I started playing 3 min blitz and could only reach up 500 and there I am, kinda frustrated for not being able to get higher. Do you think I should move up to 5 min games? Or should I just keep playing blitz til' I get better 🤔. Hope you read this and thanks for this you're making. You're awesome! Pd: oh, and excuse me for my bad english if I made any mistakes
Hey there! I suggest doing rated puzzles every day to get better at winning. To play faster, you'll need to play more games, but take the time to reflect on the games to realize your mistakes. Don't feel discouraged about your elo. It'll come as long as you're learning from your mistakes.
I would suggest sticking to longer games and analyzing every single game afterward. Everyone's different but I noticed that Blitz wasn't doing me any favors and I stagnated, so I went back to Rapid and have been making steady progress after that again. I've even been considering moving up from 10min to 15 minute games simply because I still often get into time trouble when trying to play solid chess and not blunder anything major.
I would recommend 15+10 games, the 10 min without increment kinda messed with me too, then I tried the 15+10 variant and it got me from 1000 to 1500 in about 6 weeks
Yes, but black is getting checkmated down the B file (probably, I haven't analyzed it too deeply) instead of recapturing the bishop. White at the very least would throw in the intermediate queen check on b7 which would defend the rook on b1
Can you play some more obscurities? id love to see you navigate a bongcloud-esque position in this fashion hahah, your narration gives such a clearheaded and stress free comfort to the game that even a pretty weak player like me can intuitively find some moves right along with you, aswell as being taught so much. Thanks :)
Great game and have you guys noticed the dry spell of cheaters recently! In the previous two series every other game he had a cracked screen thumbnail giving dubious distinction to those engine-savvy miscreants.
Whenever GMs or even IMs look away from a position to calculate a long ass combination (either covering their face or looking at the ceiling etc) I always suspect that they've already found it and the rest is all just for show😂
in the first example, the light square bishop would be hitting the queen, and the pawn's still defended by the dark squared bishop. after the queen moves back to d7 i think he would have pinned the knight with the light squared bishop. assuming d7 because it's the safest square for the queen that still hits d4. could be wrong
